Re: Paul O'Grady
Sadly it seems nothing really has changed - Paul was hospitalized with an angina attack and will undergo surgery tomorrow and be out of action for the foreseeable future according to reports, so the show will be anchored by guest hosts for now - although wouldn't be surprised if ITV bought The Chase back early if Paul can't return before Christmas.
Ratings wise it's been steady at 2.5m or so - not bad for 5pm, but about 0.5m less than The Chase has been getting, which had just about got to the point where it was beating Pointless once again. Without the Chase though Pointless has found an extra million or so viewers and rated as high as 4.5m last week, and you'd think with Paul now off their ratings will probably rise further.

Re: Paul O'Grady
Clearly bringing the show back wasn't the best of ideas. His heath was one of the main reasons he finished the show in the first place, yet last week they were still making him do stupid rushing round/dressing up/getting wet 'hilarious'-type things. The programme is only watchable because of Paul, so I never understood the point of the guest presenters. I'm surprised it went ahead yesterday and they didn't put the Chase on instead. Surely that's the most sensible option now?

Re: Paul O'Grady
I've recently started voluntary work at The British Heart Foundation when I first heard about Paul's illness...scary!!
Glad to hear he's fine and now out of hospital, although I'm guessing he won't be returning behind the desk for a while...what makes it worse is Vernon Kaye is the guest host tonight-can't stand the man!

Re: Paul O'Grady
But last time Vernon hosted the show they made him do Takeshi's Castle
I've not watched any of this week at all. The show is way too cringeworthy without Paul.

Re: Paul O'Grady
Ditto. I first heard of his illness tuning in on Monday to see Michael Ball, with that beard! Scary!

Re: Paul O'Grady
A rumours that Paul will be back next week. Although that's a bit too soon, surely? If he is back he'll probably end up disappearing again the next day. I remember that happening before.

And it isn't cringeworthy with him?

Re: Paul O'Grady
I said "way too cringeworthy without Paul", not that it wasn't a cringefest anyway. Paul just makes it copeable most of the time.
