Revival Episodes 7 & 8

So according to the preview trailer which has just been released. Here's what's on offer.

A rotating Honeycomb Maze!
A sweeper Bridge Ball!
Dodging the balls in Skipping Stones!
And a double Wipe Out! That explains why the other section was covered up on the Google earth shot.

I haven't seen the episode yet, but that is what to expect.

Clearly I'm way behind on this. Mainly because it's finals week and also because I technically can't access any of this. I might find a way soon though emoticon

A rotating Honeycomb Maze? What's that mean? I'm imagining the whole thing on a turning platform, but I doubt that's what it is emoticon

While I was negative about the extra things added to games at first, I'm finding myself a bit more receptive to them now. The original trailers made it seem like it was just water (and occasionally foam) being used on everything to make the game unnecessarily harder. But now seeing some of the twists (balls rolled down on Blueberry Hill, fog on Mushroom Trip, Sweepers on Bridge Ball), it feels a bit more like TCT-inspired variations.

I still don't love that they've gone for something that is obviously designed to make people fall like Sweepers, but given new things like Forked Over and Piston Pistoff, I think I'm starting to accept that it feels a bit more manmade than the original series.

It does seem like everything has some kind of "twist" on every appearance though. I feel they should let the game debut once or twice in its simplest form before adding extra bits, but I guess each game only appears once or twice anyway!

Double Wipe Out still just seems weird. It's like a battle?

It's kind of cool that they're "scaling it up" for the finale, but it also feels a bit insignificant as there've only really been four episodes and I'd like to think more are on the way at some point...

So everything is "Super" in these episodes.

I'm surprised how many people got through Skipping Stones seeing as no one has on the two times they've played it before.
Sweepers didn't actually do anything on Bridge Ball. Neither of these games were harder than before in reality - which isn't a bad thing because they're already hard enough.

I enjoyed Wipe Out this time. Having to swap over to the second one made it a lot more entertaining. Some fun falls from the second board as it was already moving at the right speed. That's what's missing in from the proper start - no falls right at the beginning because it goes so slowly.

Rotating Honeycomb Maze didn't really make any difference.
Congrats to the man that runs the Japanese TC site for making it through (and for coming prepared for Slipped Disks emoticon)!

Slip Way. This was "super" because of CGI lava and sharks? emoticon
The win rule is ridiculous though. I thought that as long as you got the arrow on the baord past the one on the runway you'd win, but nope. Getting it lined up dead on, exactly point to point, is virtually impossible. It's crazy to expect that to ever happen emoticon

NEW GAME instead of the Comeback games!! It's basically the second half of Sand Flee - finding a capsule then running to the reporters to have it opened to see if you got a good one - but in mud. Mud of Succour.

It really is feeling like a special episode with that game!

Forked Over x Piston Pistoff. Forked and Pistoff, if you will.

Again, what is it with people finding it easier to play games one after another than separately!?
Not sure that changing the direction of the forks really did much?

Super Show Down, where both carts move along the tracks. I'm not sure if this makes it harder or surprisingly easier (as it's making it more difficult for the guard).
Surely you should get a second chance if you make it to the end without your panel being broken. Otherwise what's the point of that if you lose regardless of whether you're hit or not?

All in all I enjoyed it a lot more than I thought I would during the first episode. There's a bit to be fixed if they make anymore (I hope they will), but overall it wasn't bad at all emoticon

It'd say the first 30-40ish episodes of TCThailand rate above this revival for me, but then it's easily better than the later Thai episodes when they had their budget slashed.

Fingers crossed for more, and that they hopefully make a few changes to improve it even more emoticon

Skipping Stones wasn't explained, but I'd guess there were just fewer fakes. They didn't bother highlighting the traps this time.

Clockwise has to be jumped or climbed over, anti-clockwise can just be 'followed'. They very intentionally set the hardest mode (all clockwise) for that 16-year old, and then the easiest mode (all anti) for the uni girls at the end. The pistons were also said to be controlled manually (god knows if it was actually by the guard or by someone behind the scenes), so it could've been easier than the ep 5 version too.

They term it as a 'draw' rather than a 'loss', though it is practically the same thing. Thematically (not that this matters so much), only getting one pass makes sense.

Oh yeah! I hadn't thought about how much easier anti-clockwise makes it at all.

It's frustrating that they did that to the 16 year old - he could have been the first person, possibly ever, to clear every single game played (well except the Show Down, but you know).

And yep, they were determined to get at least one of those girls through to the Show Down
through the whole series. They finally succeeded with some meddling.

Re: Revival Episodes 7 & 8

Final review from me:

Super Slippery Wall: It's Super! More hoses, very windy, much harder, and it's a thumbs up from me! Oh god that one contestant trying to get up but always falling down.

Super Wipe Out: Not just one, but two! Don't like the slow speed at the very start though but that second faster surfboard. Ooh and good to see the whales have faces back. As always, fun to watch them fail this game but too much hose I think.

Super Skipping Stones & Bridge Ball: It's a mini "Ultimate Showdown/Rat Race" in one.

First off, let's talk about the stones. Just like normal, except dodging the balls at the same time. Sounds fun right? Except for one contestant who took his time. I feel like there's less floating stones now.

Now, Bridge Ball, As if it's hard enough, the sweepers are these to make it more challenging. Again with the hose, but it's not called "Super Bridge Ball" for nothing. Same review as last time though.

Comeback Games: No comment, except they didn't show enough before the highlights.

Part 2 coming up in an hour or so

Super Honeycomb Maze: A maze that rotates and more guards! Same review as last time, but looks like the blue handed guards are probably more popular than the black maybe.

Super Slip Way: Why is it called super I wonder? It looks just like regular slip way, but with water bursting. And what is it with all these graphics? Hang on hang on! I don't understand what's going off, is this cheat way, or is it just, I don't know. Can somebody explain!

Mud surviving game: (Sorry Dan, can't steal your translation here), It's Sand Flee, but in mud. And the reporters are here for a reason this time. Not an exciting game to watch. Maybe Sand Flee was better off.
The ending is worth a watch though.

Super Strong Arm & From Right, From Left:

Starting with Strong Arm: Some mechanical issues I guess hence the steam, but the middle is now rotating the same direction as the first. But then I guess the person decides how to control these forks.

Moving on to From Right, From Left: The foam is back. Same game though, no changes to last time except it's now at night.

Super Show Down: I suppose the Count is old after all. If the old new show down was hard enough, this one's even harder. Both karts now move, same rules apply.

I'm praying really hard that they make another series for me to be able to participate on this show.

I'm still in the middle of episode 4. I watched all of 3 and then was going to watch 4 right after, but I lost interest during Bridge Ball. I need to get back into it though.

A Keshiheads special would be nice. Or a group of regular Keshiheads on here would be ideal.

I would love to take part if they did a next series, but it depends if I can cope with changes.
