Wipeout obstacles that would work well in Takeshi's Castle

As I'm sure you all know, leaked pictures of the Takeshi's Castle set show that the Pitchfork Tumblers are now a Takeshi's Castle game. That got me wondering what other Wipeout obstacles would work in Takeshi's Castle.

The challenge here is that Takeshi's Castle is a lot more stripped down and Wipeout obstacles tend to be more grand. However, I still think that some of them would work well.

Topple Towers (Season 3/4) - Takeshi's Castle already has a similar obstacle with the Dominos. However, I feel like the taller version of the Topple Towers would provide some good falls without feeling out of place.

Dirty Diving Boards (Season 3) - This is another obstacle that's simple and wouldn't feel out of place. It worked pretty well in Wipeout and is a good scale for Takeshi's Castle. Maybe it could work as part of a redone Gauntlet.

The Blob (Season 2/3/4/5) - I feel like *something* could be done with the Blob. The most realistic use of it would be having a bunch of people race on it at once like in the Dizzy Dummy. Using it for a race rather than launching people 40 feet into the air is more reasonable considering the set Takeshi's Castle is on and would probably fit the show more (and is easier to work into a game).

Door Knockers (Season 3/7/9) - The obvious use for this is as a version of Knock Knock. I might be in the minority here, but I honestly think Knock Knock gets a bit old. Maybe putting giant hammers behind the doors could help.

Mogul Madness (Season 4) - I could see them adding an extra obstacle in as part of Dragon Lake. It's easier to put obstacles on a zipline as opposed to a rope swing so maybe TC could use one of those.

Hopefully I haven't upset any TC fans with this. Are there any obstacles you think would work well as TC games?

Not too much, though a trigger warning would be nice next time..

emoticon No, I do generally like those obstacles a lot, but I’m still not really sure they belong in TC. It’s a different format. It’s hard to explain, but there’s a certain thing about the games they have (even things like High Rollers where it is just crossing from Point A to B) that feels substsantially different to any of the obstacles listed (or really any Wipeout obstacle).

I mean, yeah, maybe it’s just because I see the 110 games they have as fitting and everything else as inappropriate for TC, but I do feel there are some more TC-esque ideas that I would be happy to have added. But first, I wish they’d start with just the classics. There’s an old thread where I posted a few of my many game ideas from that time and looking back, they also feel way too Wipeouty for me now.

I was going to say maybe some of the bigger rounds would work better, but then I also don’t want something like Overdrive on there either lol. Maybe its just because I’m thinking of all the colors and it would work okay in theming, but still all the Sweepers and windshield wipers to knock you down feels too… obvious. Maaaaybe a Sweeper but I feel like it’d be six players, lower and with a really thin bar lol. That’s the only thing I see that’s feasible.

They could also try this game kind of like the Bucking Bull/Rocket where they sit on a dinosaur that spins around and they have to shoot something with a water gun. I’m not sure what, maybe a pink bat or something. There, that’s enough Wipeout inspiration for the remake emoticon

I guess another thing is that Wipeout obstacles are made blatantly to knock you over and that’s evident in the later seasons as everything is moving with tons of spinning/swinging/smacking stuff. Takeshi’s Castle games are of course made to generate good falls, but they do it more subtly IMO.

If a smackwall or something similar is seen in Takeshi's Castle... I wouldn't know what to think, since to me it depends on the usage I suppose, but I imagine it would be quite weird, and quite a few people on this forum would dislike it. I found out about Wipeout years before Takeshi's Castle, but I really like the more simple but effective obstacles from both. I generally prefer them over obstacles with smackwalls, since there is usually more diversity in the fails, and they're more possible to complete if skilled.

This may be a hot take, but I think I prefer the Tipsy Towers over the Stepping Stones. Both are pretty much the same concept, (so are the Dirty Balls, but I find those inferior to both) but I prefer the Tipsy Towers by a little bit, because of the extra height. Stepping Stones are a Keshi classic, and I like it almost as much, so they could keep it as is, and I'd still be happy to see it. They will definitely return I imagine, I'll be a bit surprised if they don't. (Maybe it has already been confirmed, I saw the trailer on YouTube, but it has been a few weeks, so I don't remember the stuff from it)

I like the Tipsy Towers, but it’s not a comparison I consider much because to me the two concepts are made for very different shows & purposes. This isn’t to fault the comparison at all (they are quite similar), but to me a similar Wipeout and Takeshi obstacle is still like comparing apples to oranges - they serve different purposes.

So Tipsy Towers on new Wipeout would be the best news I’ve heard of the new Wipeout series. Tipsy Towers on new Takeshi (in place of Skipping Stones) would probably be enough to make me not watch it.

That being said, Skipping Stones are confirmed to be in the remake.

I'm probably at risk of getting chucked out of this place with this confession but as a fan of the genre I've always found Takeshi's Castle itself a little bit.. well... crap!

Indeed I thought that was part of the charm.

I like Takeshi's Castle but I think people are overrating the look of the original. Is the new look really that cheap compared to the original. I agree that part of the appeal is the games aren't that stylized and cheap looking.
