Palm Tree Trip makes it’s first appearance this series. Honeycomb Maze and Single Roller are two other games this week.

Before I write a review of this episode, I'd just like to say that I'm disappointed Skipping Stones hasn't appeared for five episodes straight now and I really hope they haven't scrapped this game for Series 2 and replaced it with something like Angry Darumas. emoticon

Hey Kubik, thanks for being consistent with the guides. There would be no guide without you because I currently can’t afford to pay for the subscription so it’s much appreciated. Do wish they’d make it public again though so I could actually see it emoticon

I don’t think Skipping Stones is gone - I saw it in the trailer for season 2 so pretty sure it’s definitely returning. I did think it was a bit weird that they introduced Take it Snow though, but this version isn’t against adding redundant and very similar games, it seems. Line Up isn’t exactly made redundant by any other game (it’s not THAT similar to anything), but it still seems weird they’ve remade it to basically be a secondary starting game. But the fact that Palm Tree Trip and Blueberry Hill returned this week makes me more confident that we’re not losing as many games as I thought. Now I def expect we’ll see Wet Paint and Turtle Hurtle since the sets are being used as they were. Although I guess the jury is still out on games like Avalanche, Run Way and Velcro Fly, which have locations which haven’t been seen at all yet.

Now that you’ve got me started, I find it interesting to see how each version treats games. The original is the show that’s been the most consistent with game arrangement - games were often played around a certain time of an episode and in certain clusters of eps (because games were built and the removed). Plus regular games appearing the majority of the time. Thailand got all of its games pretty quickly and rotated them fairly randomly with possibly a lslight organization (Bridge Ball typically being played later on). Most other remakes we’ve had haven’t had enough games to rotate (Indonesia) or have had too few games each week to compare (Vietnam).

This remake prob falls between the original and Thailand for arrangement. There is a slight organization to where games are played and they are often played in a sequence of several episodes and then rested. There is definitely fluctuation between games in how often they are played, but not as extreme as the original where some games appear 75% of the time and others only appear in one ep ever. This version also seems to care the least about having similar game setups in an episode. For instance, we’ve had Slip Way and Run Way back-to-back in an episode. There’s also the least emphasis on caring about “popular” and “unpopular” games IMO - as evidenced by the really weird games they’ve been recreating this season and the fact that Bridge Ball and Skipping Stones are relatively rare games on this season. And I could see Skipping Stones taking a backseat to Angry Darumas now even though I do think it’ll still be used.

This isn’t to say anything’s better or worse - I just find it interesting how each remake handles itself and uses its games.

I do like that this episode mixed up the format - an extra game slot and using a secondary starting game (kind of like Slipped Disks). I was worried about them having no variety in starting games this week and now I’m almost expecting them to rebuild Stock Pot Racing next week or something emoticon
