Re: Season 9
Full Frontal has been cancelled.
I'm pretty sure Wipeout, The Cube, The Go Big Show, Rat in the Kitchen, and American Dad are the only TBS shows left. 4/5 of these are gameshows so I'd still remain hopeful about Wipeout (but I don't think Rat in the Kitchen is getting another season). Impractical Jokers on truTV has been struggling with ratings but from what I can tell season 10 is still in the works. Wipeout's ratings were actually better than IJ's even when airing during the Olympics.

Re: Season 9
We're seeing more and more WBD shows and films being axed despite being completed (Batgirl, Scoob, Little Ellen in recent days) with execs just writing off the cost rather than trying to claw back any losses.
The company is seemingly being controlled by accountants rather than creatives or even TV execs at the moment and they'd prefer not to air something, and therefore not have to account for it, than air something and make a loss on it.
I'm really thinking now considering multi-million dollar movies are being thrown in the bin we'll never see the rest of Wipeout. So thankgod they squeezed a couple of episodes into the last run for us to get a glimpse of the new course.

Re: Season 9
I think those 3 weren't going to do very well anyways. Batgirl apparently did horribly in test screenings and I doubt it would've made back it's production budget. No point in sinking even more money into advertising. I've never seen Little Ellen (I didn't even know it existed until reading your post), but it looks to have very poor ratings. Scoob is harder to judge, but I don't think it would've ended up bringing much traffic to HBO Max.
Wipeout is a much safer bet for WBD because it's consistently one of TBS's best shows and isn't nearly as big of an expense when compared to other WBD projects.

Re: Season 9
I do still feel like we'll get more episodes (likely what's been filmed), but as the weeks go by I begin to agree with all those who say that they probably won't film anymore.
I'm pretty ambivalent on whether there'll be more episodes, so I don't think it's wishful thinking on my part that I believe there will be more. In fact, the weird thing is I only really care because I would feel bad for the contestants who never saw their episode and potentially never won their rightful money!
Actually, I guess I would like to see the remaining starting obstacles and Insta-Slam variation too, but I won't be devastated if I never do

Re: Season 9
An article here which suggests TBS are still in the market for unscripted competition shows, but no mention of what is actually happening with Wipeout and The Cube.

Re: Season 9
Still no news it seems. TBS are beginning to announce their content for early 2023 now.
An interview here about the strategy for TBS/TNT - comedy, drama, sport, targetting males over 55 it seems. Not sure Wipeout fits into that.

Re: Season 9
Still no words on it's return but The Cube is now in the schedules for Jan 8 so hasn't been written off. Possibly Wipeout may take it's slot in March.

Re: Season 9
TBS still in a complete mess - the premiere of season 2 of The Cube has now been dropped with TBS saying it is no longer airing in January, despite only announcing a month ago it would.
So even if by some miracle we get a date for Wipeout there is no guarantee it will air.

Re: Season 9
Some Warner executive said that their days of cutting shows are behind them. Not a guarantee that wipeout will air, but still something.
