ANW 13
We have 2 filming locations... Tacoma Dome and Vegas (National Finals Woohoooo!) and from how the article reads it seems like there might be another location in between, could be wrong tho...

Calls have started going out and they have an article about some 15-18s being invited as well as the regular age group, like they planned to do last year. I don't care much for that personally but I know some people have wanted some of these kids on the show for years so if it introduces lots of strong competitors into the show I'm happy to see how it goes.

Re: ANW 13
Thank you for posting, I forgot to
Well it sounds like a step in the right direction, but unfortunately doesn't sound like it'll be normal either. At least we have Vegas this year and a potential middle location.
My biggest hope is that they treat the Tacoma rounds as normally as possible: 4-5 (6 would be a bit much IMO) individual courses with competitors grouped by their traditional regions. That'd at least feel more normal, even if it was all filmed in the same place.
That's assuming that they have 100 people compete in each episode, but now that I think about it, flying in 100 people from each place might not be worth it for them It's actually crazy to think they used to have 100 competitors compete in Qualifying episodes and it's kind of hard to see them going back now that I think about it Ugh, these changes bring me down so much.
So do the constantly mentioned safety measure stuff. They probably have to say it, but I'd rather pretend it's not happening and enjoy the show Also, isn't it supposedly "safer" to be in outdoor settings? I really prefer it being done outdoors, so now is the perfect excuse to do that
Well, some good news at least!

Re: ANW 13
Guess the Semi-Finals replace the City Finals then. I doubt now even when we return to normality the city qualifier/finals format will return - or if it does not with as many cities.
Quite common for long running shows that tour the country (usually the likes of Idol) to scale back on that element in later seasons in favour of filming in fewer locations.

Re: ANW 13
Well I'm really glad they're filming it outside, but still sounds like it will be reminiscent to last season with a completely separate semi-final round. I hope that won't be permanent, even after other things get back to normal

Re: ANW 13
NW France-esque split path this season:
https://www.americanninjawarriornation.com/2021/3/23/22346523/american-ninja-warrior-season-13-format-change-split-decision-pick-between-two-obstacles
So in the heats it's a choice between two balance obs, in the semis it's a choice between a traditional upper-body ob 9 or a tougher balance ob. Sounds pretty good so far, one of the biggest format changes they've done whilst adding not taking away from what we already traditionally have - I think you all know by now I like split paths and balance!

Re: ANW 13
Well that's interesting!
I've had the exact thought of the ninth obstacle being a choice between the usual strength-drainer or a really tough balance obstacle (particularly a long slackline), so that's interesting to see it come true.
I am kind of nervous though - are they going to be able to change both of them everytime? I really don't want the reusing of obstacles from last year to become the norm, but I find it hard to believe they're now going to be able to change both obstacles of both split-paths every time. They have trouble creating six unique balance obstacles in a regular year, and if they're toting them as being different than before, that seemingly eliminates a lot of opportunities
Could definitely spice things up though

They're teasing a new obstacle on ANW called the Overpass. I'm not sure how it works even from the description (or picture), but it sounds intriguing. I believe there are three bars involved that contestants must move across the pool, transferring from one to the next. At least it sounds like it with the "stunning ballet of athleticism".
Also just remembered the womens' special from last year is airing on May 9th!

Re: ANW 13
Just a heads up that Vegas is currently filming - they filmed part of Stage 1 last night and continuing tonight - apparently it's been windy which caused some dust problems last night

Re: ANW 13
Is there an audience? It's the same area right, so surely it'd be tough to keep people out?
