Yeah Full Money’s not a bad idea. I remember thinking it was pretty creative. Big Foot Wedge is also decent for me though it feels a bit short and we won’t get much of it.

One thing I both love & hate about this show is that you don’t get THAT many attempts on the average hole. It’s probably a good thing for making stuff less repetitive, but it also means you miss out on a lot of potential wipeouts if a hole only appears four or five times.

Think of stuff like Buns & Weiners, Turfing USA. You only get about 8 attempts at it so there are lots of things that could be missed. The average obstacle on most shows gets used probably at least 100 times (most ANW obstacles, reoccurring Wipeout obstacles, any semi-regular TC game), so it’s kind of strange to get so few on these.

Buns & Wieners was a great hole but I'm not all that sad we didn't see much of Turfing USA. emoticon

I think you bring up a really interesting point. If we assume (even though it's wrong because of quits) that every single contestant on Wipeout episodes with the Jiggleators ran the Jiggleators, then that comes out to around 842 attempts (accounting for the fact that the reboot has 4 less contestants). I don't know if that's more of a compliment to Wipeout's format over Holey Moley or a complaint about Wipeout not giving us enough new obstacles. Probably somewhere in the middle.

I wonder if a hole where contestants are forced to clear the obstacle no matter how many attempts it takes would work. Holey Moley has a ton of fluff so I think they could definitely fit in the extra attempts.

Re: Holey Moley

Hey, Turfing USA sure ain’t my favorite hole, but I wouldn’t be against seeing it a couple more times. At least compared to the repetition a lot of the holes this season had!

Yeah, I do think Holey Moley’s is overall preferable. It’s definitely better from an originality standpoint, but the fact that there are so few attempts per obstacle may indicate that they don’t make great use of the show’s time (lots of filler, as you said!).

Having a repeating obstacle is a good idea and something I was just thinking of. Also, I thought of basically a duel round, in a similar vein to the Sweeper, where the competitor who stays standing longer gets an optimal position. Gopher It did this in a way, but head-to-head would be cool (though would go even faster I guess emoticon ). But I think those are good ways to mix it up - then a ton of the standard “really hard obstacle and you get one shot” ones as always.

So, the finale! I do think using the newer holes was a good idea. I was surprised they didn’t try to sneak in a “run fast or get knocked off” thing as we know they love to do!

Full Mooney got some champion putting, but the efforts on the actual obstacle were pathetic! Although I do think it may have been rolling kind of weirdly, at one point it looked a bit more wobbly anyway.

Holeywood isn’t so bad after weeks off, and an interesting surprise here! I was feeling kind of bad for Kathy being the only of three to not hit a lily pad (though she’s well within her rights, being 64 or whatever!), and just seconds later she just casually hit a hole-in-one lol. I did feel bad for her opponents, they didn’t really get a shot. I wonder if the competitors are randomly-generated or chosen with more purpose. I have a hunch they drafted this round to ensure that a woman would make the next phase (purely say this because more guys remained in the championship and they don’t tend to worry about them making it). I know if been annoyed by the constant “Riggle Drop Zone” reoccurring joke, but I actually appreciate that it led up to Joe having to admit that the Riggle zone is the most prestigious.

Big Foot Wedge becomes the second hole (after Holey Matrimony) to go undefeated. The Rob Riggle lookalike was probably the closest to sticking it, might’ve done it if he reached his arms out. Has a woman ever played this hole? Seems to be mainly guys, and I feel like all three of these guys were in it before?

It was good to see the Parcade again, if briefly. I do think it would’ve been better to use it throughout the season and maybe save something like Donut Hole for the finale, but I’m sure I’d have a complaint either way! The second hole-in-one was insane. Also, was I crazy or did the first guy’s ball fall out of Uranus (no, this isn’t the beginning of a joke…) for no reason? It looked weird, I should rewatch it.

Unfortunately, this episode did a bit to undermine how meaningful certain things are. Like the Rob Riggle Drop Zone being supposedly the worst spot to hit from (I think it really doesn’t matter where you hit from) and then saying in the past that Uranus is one of the worst positions (it seems to be the best as it’s pointing at the hole). There have been other instances like often the channel in The Pecker gives you a worse lie than just going down the main thing. This isn’t like a real issue I have, and it was cool to see the hole-in-ones, but I won’t lie that the Parcade one felt a bit more contrived because of how it unfolded.

The final round was unexpected, but not bad. I imagined it’d be a Distractor (on the regular course) with all the Muppets around them, but I was wondering how the Muppets would actually be standing up! So having Jeannie sing was kind of random and a copout, but I wasn’t looking forward to the Muppet distraction anyway, so I was fine with it. And the song was funny (and somewhat catchy) too, so that’s a plus. It was good to give her a bit more of a role, she’s hardly appeared outside of the occasional hole overview this season. I did notice she came dangerously close to one of the balls the guy hit, wonder how they would handle that. What’s interesting is the round went for 12 rounds (not too surprising), but they didn’t really feature any near misses as they tend to do. Maybe no balls happened to come too close, but I’d be surprised if there wasn’t one that stopped within a few inches of the hole.

My Dad thinks the plot and the final hole were their way of saying the show is cancelled, but I really don’t think so. I don’t think he knows this was filmed with season 3 either, right on the back of a double commission from ABC. So I doubt this was them officially wrapping it up. Though, I’m still not sure whether it will return as I don’t think anything has been said about that yet.

I think I’ve said it before, but I’m always saying they should t film two seasons together again, but maybe we’d be lucky to get two more seasons at all!

The 5th season may be filmed on the course they set up for the Aussie version.

Oh wow, I read this post but somehow didn't reply.

It has now been confirmed to be filming on the Australian set. Not thrilled by this news; the Australian set looked a bit cheaper to me and also just gives a different feel when I wished they'd have gone for consistency and stayed in the same location. Although I guess it's a bit less shocking given they doubled-up on filming in 2021 - that did seem to imply they wouldn't just go back and film in 2023, at least to me.

But the biggest thing is whether the Australian version will receive new obstacles? Don't they still only have season 2 stuff? It'll really suck if they just reuse that stuff, though I doubt it (unless the show is extremely desperate and this Australia thing is a last resort?). I guess it could make sense if Australia themselves is planning to film another season with new obstacles so both countries' versions can share the cost & get use out of the same stunts? Maybe that's the thinking.

One good thing is that Australia seems to have removed some more covid restrictions, should make it better.

Any updates on this? Feel like they tend to film in late January/early February.
