PROJECT: Design Your own TV Show!

So many people on here agree that channels like Challenge have started relying on showing reruns of same old, same old shows, effectively making them feel stale.

In this topic, you can post your ideas for a completely new concept that these channels can use. If we compile a few, maybe we can send them off to some Challenge-esque channels through email.

It's certainly a longshot, but it could be fun seeing if any channel responds to your idea(s).

I wouldn't mind taking that idea from two years ago on board

Quote:

My programme idea is a game show called Games Exchange where contestants would be encouraged to play video games with Dominik Diamond & Jason Bradbury, it would be hosted by Lee Mack, the channel that Games Exchange would work on is Sky One.

Everything on Games Exchange would be glitzy as possible, the sets, the expensive prizes (on the pre-Millionaire level), the theme tune that sounds like a 70s disco song More, More, More by Andrea True Connection (see https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=73RYirgeLV4) with the 70s game show vibe.

Two teams of two would take part in by answering questions about video games. There would be £5 on offer for every correct answer. They would play various rounds, mostly consisting of them buzzing in to unscramble challenging anagrams of various game characters such as “IMRAO”.

After three rounds, they would play video games. One of them could play with one half with Dom & Jason. Former Videogame Nation host Dan Maher would do a commentary on gaming round. The winning team in the gaming round would win a prize and there would be three more rounds (pounds doubled) before another gaming round. The winning team in the second gaming round would win a prize and go through to the final, if another team wins there would be a tie breaker round determining who goes through to the final. The losers gets gaming goodies as a consolation prize.

In the final the winning team would be given one minute on the clock to get ten scores in playing a video game. Five scores would win £20,000, the rest wins a car or a holiday. There would be a tense moments for the end game with a Bullseye style drum roll.

The show would be filmed at The Maidstone Studios.

I'll submit my old idea, too!:

Quote:

I came up with this show called "Spin it to Win it", which I could see as a possible half-hour daytime show.

There are five sections of the stage, each different from the others. Two three-player teams would compete head-to-head in each Zone, where they'll earn points for doing different things. The point system adds all the points teams score in each section together. This scoring style will insure that all five zones will get used. The team with the higher score at the end will win $5,000 and get to try the "Bonus Bucks" round.

The theme of each Zone would probably remain the same every week, at least for the first season.

The Zones I'd have are as follows:

Thinking Town: This section has a bunch of giant cards scattered around the room, which each have a multiple-choice question (answer choices A-C) on them. I'd dress the room as a city to go with the name "Thinking Town" and place cards in different places all around the city. Contestants will write their answer on any cards they find with a pen and at the end of two and a half minutes, the answers will be checked, and the points added for all cards a team gets to and writes the correct answer on. A few select cards will give five points, while most are worth just one or two. Questions on math, history, science, writing, grammar and the arts are asked.

Creativity Corner: The two teams will have a minute to make a piece of art, which will be graded by three "art critics" at the end of the turn. The team with the higher grade/score will be awarded ten points to their main scoreboard. After the first round, there will be two more rounds. There are several different types of rounds: Carbon Copy (try to match a drawing or painting shown to you), Blindfolded, Tag-team (the teams will only have one member painting at a time and they will switch out every twenty seconds), Finish the Picture (the teams will have to continue an unfinished drawing given to them) and Giant Pencil. The type of round used would be randomly selected on the spot each week.

Relay Road: The teams will both compete on an obstacle course relay-race on the stage. There are two identical courses side-by-side, one for each team. The first person on each team will cross the first three obstacles and then tag off to their second team member, who'll do three more obstacles before tagging their third team member to do the final stretch of three more obstacles. To finish the course, all three team members must raise a victory flag on a pole. Some obstacles are just crossings, while others are failable obstacles which must be restarted. Obstacles might include "Goo Pool", "Sticky Slide", "Bouncy Ground", "Fire-Pole" and "Lilypad Leaper." The obstacles would be small so change or be altered every week. The winning team will automatically get 20 points and a time bonus will also be added (under 1 minute is 20 points, under 1 and a half minutes is ten points and under two minutes is five points).

Science Station: The two teams will simply read a page of instructions and have to construct a science experiment, carefully following the instructions. If the team completes the experiment in five minutes, they are awarded 20 points, but if they don't they will win nothing. The team that finishes first or is the only one to finish will win a ten-points bonus. If neither finishes then nothing changes. Experiments could include a baking-soda volcano or a Mentos geyser. The experiment would probably be different each week.

Lucky Lane: The teams will have to spin a giant upright wheel, with an arrow pointing down at the top, which will indicate what the wheel has landed on. The wheel has 30 sections, and each has a different number from 1 to 30 on it. Whatever number it lands on will indicate the number of points to add for the team. To mix things up more, you could put a "Double your points section" or a "Lose x number of points" section.

Bonus Bucks: The winning team will have five minutes to answer questions of different categories and run across the stage to insert their answer into a box and then run back to tag their partner for the next question. Each question is worth $1,000, but a wrong question subtracts $2,000 from their bonus round (and only their bonus round) total. No passing on any questions.

The stage would be shown rotating and the zones could be switched around in what order they're visited (except for "Lucky Lane").

I have a idea. It is a lovely music production. The show plays a song. I would select songs such as Touch Me Swing on down and Light my fire. I will also play what about us. I find it inspirational. The music will play within a candy shop 0. I imagine the candy owner to begin dancing. I picture him to be tiny o. I kind uv think he ud dance like a beetle or crap o. I find it crazy to imagine. I think the candy could be bottles off those red and white peppermint things. I find it unique. I think it ud be inspirational huh? Messup could guest star to. I find it original to imagine.

I sent these ideas to Challenge and UKTV - it's highly unlikely anything will come of any of them, but you never know unless you try!

That's true!

All I've received is an automatic email from Challenge asking to forward my ideas to another of their departments. Bleh.
