The Big Bounce - aka Ninja Warrior on trampolines In about half an hour German TV channel RTL (broadcaster of Ninja Warrior Germany) will premiere its Ninja Warrior Rip-off The Big Bounce, which is produced by EndemolShine.
There are five qualification shows which consist of three rounds each:
* A duel round where people compete head-to-head
* A tactics round where people have to remember color, light and number combinations
* A final round where they need to jump very high and very far to get to the end
Last two rounds are played on their own. Each round has different obstacles that you need to tackle with the help of trampolines.
40 best contestants from the qualification rounds move on to the final show. That show has three rounds as well, but new obstales:
* A sprinting round, where speed matters
* A so-called "Bounce Off" duell-round
* A final round where the best two contestants have to jump up Midor.. eh have to jump up a 8-meter wall.
It's obviously a Ninja Warrior rip-off and presentation is very similar to Ninja Warrior Germany.
But since people enjoy Ninja Warrior, you might want to have look at that show.. which will certainly come to a country near you soon.
You can find two videos on YouTube (if they weren't geo-blocked)
Re: The Big Bounce - aka Ninja Warrior on trampolines It appears rather injurious. I find it creepy. My husband would laugh. I will wince. I find it painful seeming. It is however novel looking. I be conflicted! I find it hilarious.
The set is lovely and atmospheric. The show is risky and looks a little distasteful. I find it questionable. I am not big on people flipping backwards after they are bopped by a platform. I find it unfair.
Re: The Big Bounce - aka Ninja Warrior on trampolines I saw a promo for this and it looked alright, but then the whole trampoline thing feels more like a gimmick than something to base a whole series on. Will watch in the next few days to form a proper opinion!
Re: The Big Bounce - aka Ninja Warrior on trampolines If anyone finds a link for this could they let me know please? I was looking earlier but couldn't find anything.
Re: The Big Bounce - aka Ninja Warrior on trampolines I thought the show was overall pretty good - didn't need nearly that long a timeslot but didn't drag toooo much considering how long it was.
I love the obstacles. Trampolines are obviously at the center of the bulk of the obstacles, but there're still some non-bouncy ones. For example, the Buoy Run-inspired obstacle on the first stage and the vertical Bally-Go-Round-type obstacle at the beginning of the third stage. Also can't believe Wipeout never did do the vertically spinning balls, although they probably thought it was too similar to the Double Barrel, when, in reality, Smackwalls caused the real repetiton
But I digress, they got a lot right! Really enjoyed the trampoline to plank in the first stage and there were a ton of exciting moments on the trampoline to the slope in the third.
Surely it can't be too long until we see the Quad Steps but with trampoline platforms?
I did see some obstacles that weren't in this episode, in the trailer when I rewatched it, but fear that's only for the final episode All that's really needed is a few small tweaks (change the plank's height/distance from the trampoline, have the balls spin the opposite direction in the third stage but put a net to hang from on them, etc.). If they do these sort of things, it could be really good.. But I suspect not!
Re: The Big Bounce - aka Ninja Warrior on trampolines They uploaded some highlights of (what I assume is) tomorrow's episode. Looks like Stage One is completely redone, with the exception of the Buoy Run at the end! :
I have to say I prefer the first version, but they definitely did the right thing having a course to alternate
Re: The Big Bounce - aka Ninja Warrior on trampolines It could have done without all the interviews before each head to head, but I can see why they want to introduce the contestants like this - so you can back one or the other. There were some cocky idiots I was willing to fail!
These VTs still could have been a lot shorter though.
The referee guy who decided whether they’d some the slanted trampoline bit properly was only really judging the contestant who was next to him. The ones closest to the camera got away with some moves that they wouldn’t have if they were the other side. Doesn’t seem too fair!
I like the memory part. That’s something novel and changes the pace a bit. Nice to have different ideas within the one show.
I’m really impressed they’re changing the majority of obstacles each week. At last a show that bothers to have variety
Re: The Big Bounce - aka Ninja Warrior on trampolines It's probably just that they alternate the two different sets of first round obstacles and that's the only change. We can always hope there'll be more, but I'll be very impressed/surprised if there is!
