Re: The Post About Today Topic

I just told my sister the news since I'm so annoyed at myself and now she's mad at me for "putting myself above others for not cheating". What? All I said was that I found it strange to be the only one who didn't think to look the answers up. I'm more just frustrated with myself and the school still being closed for some reason.

I guess the subject hits close to home for her emoticon

Yes! I am calm now though, I promise lol.

Well the day after that I went back-to-school. Back-to-school as in 90% of people staying home and several of the students in each class opting to return to campus. It's definitely not ideal at all and it's still basically a virtual class since it's going out to people at home, but it feels nice to get out again.

It's also just good to be there in real-life for different tech issues I have at my house. Of course, 50 teachers at my school have taken leave so are still working from home (and the kids in their class who come to school just go to the gym/media center for their class). I got lucky, and only one of my eight teachers is still gone, some kids I know got like 6 that didn't return.

The school is really big (seven different buildings for classrooms alone) and now it's been made into one giant loop with the arrows on the ground. So it took me about ten hours to find each classroom, but hopefully now that I know where I'm going it'll be somewhat smoother. The mask for seven hours is brutal. You can take it off at lunch if you're eating or drinking, so I always make sure to get a tall bottle of water from my house to hold and pretend to drink emoticon It's about two people per lunch table anyway! And there's a bunch of staff now running around yelling at people to distance and follow the arrows. It's a mess.

I think the majority of people (including all my friends emoticon ) are giving up on it, so it'll probably be even fewer next people. Probably because of all the rules they have now. Students aren't allowed to be alone in a room with the teacher, so if I'm the only one in a class they'll probably start sending me to the media center. So the teachers (most of them) will be at school but still 100% remote. Sad days. But I still feel like it's progress! I hope by second semester in January they have everyone come back, but I'm really afraid they will still need the social distancing thing and that a bunch of people will refuse to come back and they'll keep doing virtual. Why must this be senior year? emoticon

Most teachers seem pretty reasonable and understanding. But my math teacher (who I have for two classes straight) is crazy about it. She BEGGED us not to come and set up a giant shower-curtain barrier around her desk with a bunch of fans blowing disinfectant and she's wearing three masks. All at her desk as far away as possible from us. She apparently tries to get to school 30 minutes earlier than she used to just to avoid passing anyone. :omg And she's... 26 years old and self-reportedly living alone! I just can't understand this mindset. Be safe, of course, but some people are going crazy! When will they take back their lives??

Anyway lol. Nice to be back in class emoticon

Lmao seems like your math teacher is very secure with CV19, 20 FANS BLOWING DISINFECTANTS AND HAVING DESKS 3000000 KM APART WHILE WEARING 69 MASKS. emoticon

We were already back at school long time ago tho. emoticon emoticon

That's next week's plan emoticon

The best part is she clusters all of her students as close together as possible to be away from her emoticon

^And now I'm staying home myself emoticon I'm nt wearing a mask for seven hours to be the only one to actually attend school. Hopefully January will have people come back emoticon

Also, the election has flipped bigtime, but no results yet. We'll see...

So frustrated at the mo.

I wish people could use just a tad more logical thinking/integrity with this virus.

I went to the movie yesterday (and I'm consistently the only one in my theater these days emoticon) and the whole theater is plastered with "Stay safe" signs and a bunch of claims that they obviously aren't following up on. Apparently each theater now has an individual "room cleaner", but I'm not seeing anything different whenever I'm there. They're clearly not cleaning every surface every 30 minutes either. And I don't want them to - but I really want them to cut the fun and games and be honest. It'd be refreshing to not hear about it!

Speaking of poor logic/stupid, all of the parks in my county are STILL closed. Public outdoor parks. So don't worry, everyone's just going to inside play places to pay for their kid to play instead of playing (safer) outside. Forget encouraging kids to get outside and meet with friends. It's too dangerous now. Covid is clearly the only threat, even to kids who never die from it.

And what makes less sense than closing these parks? Eliminating entries/ways to walk in stores. So now everyone can cluster together as they try to enter through the single entry point, exit through the single exit point, and get stuck waiting for aisles that only allow them to walk one direction.

Aside from this logical fallacy stuff, it's mind-boggling how we're moving backwards from getting back IN schools and back to our usual routines. Kids need school. Trust me, I love my computer and without it I couldn't write this lovely rant, but to use it for seven consecutive hours? No thanks. No interaction with everyone and half the teachers talking about how they intend to "work from home" until... there are 0 Covid cases in the world? Until everyone takes a vaccine? Until pigs fly? What's the holdup? Rates are down, and many people like Dr. Fauci are now even saying we're nearing the end so you'd think, "Okay, things are easing up.". Nope! In fact Palm Beach is planning on becoming ONLY remote (not even the option to go to school for younger kids whose parents work or older kids who want to sit alone in a room and do the exact same thing, but still like to at least get out) after Thanksgiving and I'm sure Broward will join. So my school will go from 10% of people attending it to 0. And that doesn't bode well for my hope for a full return in January (even with necessary safeguards). And other places are becoming more scrupulous by the week, like the food bank thingy I occasionally do since school started.

And now my area's had insane flooding so many buildings are water-damaged and I know all of the first-floor classrooms are messed-up with water damage now. The outside of my school has three feet of water apparently (it's really low in the ground), it's crazy emoticon And yet I have a teacher celebrating this because they get (at least) two weeks to work from home. I mean, I don't like getting up and driving places either, but it's part of (normal) life and in the end it feels better than never leaving your house.

All I'm saying is that a lot of the logic I'm seeing around me (not to be self-centered!) makes no sense and I wish people would get more mature about this. And I'm not very mature about stuff, so when I say it you knows it's bad. Get it together people!!

Because I know for a fact that the owners of the school, park, and movie theater around me all read on here. Daily in fact.. emoticon emoticon
