Aww, couple Finns just barely missed championship, being second in team Heroic emoticon

ENCE was further back, but 11th or where ever they ended up will still pay well enough.

Time for the biggest again, DotA 2 The International.

And it's real interesting even thought we're not even in the actual tournament, some big names are in the final qualifying where only two teams of twelve get to play for the real big money.

And among those is Team Secret with Puppey, champion of the very first The International 2011, the only player who has appeared in every tournament (making 10 as 2020 was cancelled). Will Puppey play once again in the 11th tournament?

There's also T1 with two of the only five players ever to win two The International titles - ana and Topson.

Topson and MATUMBAMAN (another former champion) of Team Liquid are the only Finns left; will there be any Finnish players in The International 11? If not, that would be first time since 2013.

Puppey keeps the streak alive, Team Secret is in TI11 emoticon

And Matumbaman with Team Liquid is the other qualifier emoticon

Besides them, of the 18 other teams only two have former champions: last year winner Team Spirit continues with same players (Russian and Ukrainian) and last year runner-up PSG.LGD has two Chinese 2016 champions (back then in Wings team).

Both legends fell just on the line from becoming absolute GOAT.
Puppey's Team Secret was second and Matu's Team Liquid third, with title this year going to another new team Tundra Esports. Tundra's coach Aui_2000 does make history as first who has won The International both as player and coach.

Sadly this may have been the farewell for MATUMBAMAN. At 27 he's lost passion for the game and is heading for his postponed military service.

End of an era, change of generation: today starts the very last CS:GO Major in Paris.

Next year begins Counter-Strike 2 era, the game to be released this summer. After a full decade of CS:GO, it's time to move on emoticon

Finland is no longer the power it once was in CS, but at least there's one Finnish player, team and coach in Paris for the CS:GO farewell.

IESF world championship is going on in Romania.
Events are CS:GO, CS:GO Female, eFootball, Tekken7, Dota2, PUBG MOBILE and Mobile Legends: Bang Bang.

Looks like this "official" organized sport is still far behind commercial competitions, similarly to how X-Games and such are above snowboarding world championships or maybe even Olympics.

And for some reason Finland isn't participating. 33 European countries were in qualifying (of CS or DotA, don't remember which I was looking at), including all other Nordics, but no Finland.
Maybe there's some mess with local association, real shame not to have Finnish team in CS or DotA.

Finals at weekend.

Ukraine has withdrawn as protest to IESF allowing Russia to return in esports.
Ukraine would've been at least in CS:GO quarterfinal and DotA2 lower bracket round 1.

DotA2 final will be Mongolia-Myanmar. Kyrgystan was third.
(Yeah, I don't get it either. Even if western pro players aren't in the tournament, you'd still think...)

Been a while since I've followed esports - Finnish public broadcasting has lately been all quiet about any.

So I missed that old ENCE man Aleksib won Copenhagen CS2 major with the Ukrainian team Na'Vi. He's the first Finn to win a CS major - rather shockingly, as CS has been called our national esport.
