In case you didn't know, The Crystal Maze has been axed. It was never going to beat the original but it wasn't a bad reboot.

The CM fan blog have got hold of a load of props. Some are being sold on ebay, and I managed to get this https://mobile.twitter.com/JGAdventureZone/status/1433097786849906700

Re: The Crystal Maze

Was no surprise given how the last few episodes had been treated with one series going out at 10pm and some unseen episodes from three series ago getting a 5pm airing on E4.

It's a shame but I agree it wasn't a bad reboot and around 45 episodes isn't a bad run really. I do think they shouldn't have gone so far down the celebrity route and although I think we'd have all preferred an extra couple of games per episode overall we couldn't have asked for much more - other than more people watching it.

It is fair to say C4 could have scheduled it better but to be fair when it didn't really work at 9pm they did try it at 8pm, and then tried it on Sundays, and ratings just didn't pick up.

As for Richard Ayode - people either got him or they didn't. I thought he was brilliant myself.

Yeah the scheduling was all over the place. All episodes pre Eastern Zone have been removed from All4 for some reason.

Another sign really that it wasn't taking off was it just wasn't repeated either. Even in this on demand world repeats are important and a new audience could probably have been found with a daytime slot on E4 or 4Music, or during the day on C4 itself. Indeed with the original run itself I discovered it when C4 used to repeat it during the summer holidays a few series in.

Shame to hear but what I assumed considering the scheduling last year and its subsequent absence from our screens. I liked Richard but there's no denying that at times he really killed a lot of the energy in the atmosphere - having 10 games rather than say 12 was probably more to blame for this though.

That's a shame! I never watched this reboot too much, but I was glad to see it was going and it actually had a decent run (just over four years I believe). I remember the cancer celebrity special that inspired it five years back now, so it's certainly not a bad run.

There is now a Pluto TV channel showing the revival episodes back to back.

Took me ages to find Wally 😅
Love the nods to Ocean (best zone ever, for one series) and Eastern (worst zone ever, wasn't even a zone, just a room).

Ocean is my favourite too. Eastern had potential, but similar to what you said, it was basically a corridor.
