That's well-written, thanks TCM (even if he hates me emoticon) emoticon

@Brekkie: Spinning Log, albeit being called the usual name for some reason, was very different because it was the two logs divided by a wobbly platform in the middle. The Broken Pipes on ANW were A LOT deadlier than the Spinning Log ever was (even with the "hurtle" they added in season 6 Denver emoticon ).

By the way, the Broken Pipes and Tuning Forks so deserve to be brought back in ANW, but instead we get Block Run for the fourth year now lolololol.

I digress emoticon

Semi-final two was aired tonight, here's a link to the top twenty leaderboard:

Overall, another good episode, liked the semis course more than I was expecting and it's nice to see so many returning competitors in the top twenty.

Finals start next week and I am NOT a fan of the 'eliminator' (i.e. stage 1) course.

'Elimination Night' (the final stage 1) airs tomorrow evening at 6:30pm on itv. The course is uploaded to YouTube and the show's social media accounts for all who want to see (I'm trying to avoid spoilers as the 4th obstacle of stage 1 is one of only three obstacles which I have not already been told).

As I said previously, I'm not the biggest fan of the course: obstacles 1 to 3 are good, 4th as I've said I don't know, 5th onwards is a let down.

This could be exciting due to this being BY FAR the strongest competitor field we've had - I wouldn't be surprised if we got clears in the double digits... especially with a time limit of FIVE MINUTES! Even 3 minutes would probably be doable on this course. Anyway, hoping Teige and Beth Lodge do well. I honestly think Teige could be the one to reach the mountain, and in Beth's case it would be great to see a woman reach stage 2 (she definitely has it in her).

Results:
15 clears out of 19

Thoughts:
Most boring episode so far, not worthy of any more reviewing than that - at least stage 2 onwards looks decent.

The final (stage 2 onwards) airs in two days - stage 2 is 5 obstacles against the clock, stage 3 is 3 untimed obstacles attempted immediately after stage 2. The obstacle lineup is the same as last year apart from the first two obstacles which I won't spoil here but they are easily available elsewhere as Messup calls it. The final result has been leaked though so be careful how hard you look.

With 15 competitors remaining this could be an exciting final episode, but I worry that runs will be severely shortened in the edit due to the high number of competitors. Hoping not to have a series 3 repeat in that regard. My predicted top 3 are Teige, Deren and Chris De Stefano, though not necessarily in that order.

Was Stage One boring because it was too easy or just dull overall?

I think Stage Two and Stage Three should have a 4:4 obstacle split, instead of a 5:3. Even if they're much tougher, just having three obstacles in Stage Three is a bit of a letdown emoticon

Both! Obstacles were boring, results were boring.

Anyway, the final has aired and it was probably one of, if not THE best episodes we've had. This year's stage 2 felt a lot less stale - even though double twister and cannonball alley were the only new obstacles. They just made the stage much more entertaining and more strenuous on the upper body. They showed every run in full which was a nice touch and the time limit for once was probably about right. 8 out of 15 cleared stage 2 and moved onto stage 3 - ANW could learn a thing or two from this.

Stage 3 was the same as last year except the spider flip had a much bigger gap. 6/8 failed crazy Cliffhanger, Ali Hay made it to the flying bar and Tim Champion became the first ever to complete the course.

Midoriyama was... well, interesting. A 45 second time limit for 22m of rope seemed a bit generous but they really wanted that win. Tim got about 2/3 up in about 20 seconds but then just gased out and pressed the buzzer with 1 solitary second to spare. An exciting climax to an exciting series. Well done Tim!

Overall, I've been really impressed by this series (apart from that eliminator). I'm glad that they finally learned their lesson and invited people back! It says something when only 1 person in the final episode hadn't competed before and in my mind strengthens the argument further for inviting people back. I hope this wasn't just to get a winner and then next year they'll return to their old ways. Obstacle choices on the whole were decent but not a huge step up from series 4 - there is definitely room for improvement in that department. Editing was the best it's ever been without a doubt. The new theme tune is majestic too. A solid 10/10 in comparison to previous series, maybe an 8 on the whole. Very good series. 👍

The new series hasn't been officially confirmed yet, normally it is by now but they have done a lot of pushing to try to get people to register their interest so there's hope. Hoping for even more returning competitors, bigger and better obstacles and more of the same in terms of editing.

Very interested to hear what they do with obstacles next year. I think ANW 10 is untouched by them, but ANW themselves seem more interested in 9 than 10 this year with the obstacles they've been bringing back! Only eight obstacles added in the regionals last year have returned.

There's a guy called Kane who I talk on discord about ninja shows who has done an interview with former NWUK competitor Ali Hay (Stage 2 in season 3, Stage 3 in 4 & 5) and they discussed some interesting things like how the show was run and the potential for a new series, as well as his run on Sasuke. It's a long watch but it has some very good discussion that I thought some people here might be interested in, I'll leave a link below:

KnK Ali Hay Interview

He also interviewed Perry Oosterlee who's done a lot for international ninja but still need to get around to finishing that one.
