Art Attack

It's probably obvious how much I love Art Attack now, from WhyMon. It was always my favourite show when I was growing up, and I'd still watch it today if it was still being made. Well, if Neil was doing it. I've just seen this:
http://www.digitalspy.co.uk/tv/news/a317839/art-attack-to-return-to-tv-with-new-host.html

I knew they'd been making a new Disney series in Argentina, but having Art Attack come back in the UK without Neil!? emoticon

I've seen this new Art Attack on YouTube, and it's not Art Attack at all. If they didn't use the logo you wouldn't know it was even meant to be the same show.

I hate the set. You'll never beat the original Art Attack set where all the art stuff looked real (I used to thin it was emoticon). When they changed it so that everything was covered in splats they ruined it, then there was the even newer mid-2000's set that was a bit better than the splat version, but they got rid of the paintbox and replaced it with one of those cheapo art sets you get (just like in this Disney set).
But thsi Disney set is by far the worst. The art stuff doesn't look real at all, it's also too small and there's not enough of it! And what is the desk? An iron? emoticon
And instead of the Head there's a palm tree. Why!? What has a palm tree got to do with anything?

It always made me laugh watching the French and German series' when I was at Disneyland Paris. You could see it was Neil's hands making the stuff, but the hosts were pretending it was them emoticon
This is what they're doing with these Argentina series' too. They just use the same clips of the stuff being made and they local host pretends it's them.

So, they're bringing back Art Attack in the UK without Neil, and with a new host who won't even be making the stuff himself but pretending to. Brilliant. emoticon

I used to watch it all the time, I used to paint stuff in my back garden emoticon Good times.

You know those paper things with Banzuke Brians face on them, where you pull his head and chin so his mouth goes really long? (I seriously hope you know what I am talking about)

This is honestly a very 'woops' moment for me involving Art Attack. About 4 days after Princess Diana died, we were at school and for some reason a ton of people didn't have any classes all at once, so we were all sent to the auditorium to watch whatever they had. All they could find was an old Art Attack VHS in one of the art rooms, so they put it on, and they were making those paper things.
They were making all different ones, and Neil suggested making some Royal family ones, especially Princess Diana..... yeah, so when he pulled it to open the big mouth, there was a big ARGHHHHH in a spiky speech bubble. This was met with a large boo and several incredibly embarressed teachers, although it was quite funny afterwards.

Sorry if that was a bit of an odd story, but I've never felt anyone would understand it before now emoticon

Re: Art Attack

They really want to replace Neil and then make Big Art Attacks like he used to do. They are idiots, really. They shouldn't do it.

I think we never had this set in Germany, but yes, it's really ugly. We had the one with the wooden table and the purple table. But I think they didn't want to hide the fact that our host didn't do the Art Attacks. Sometimes he sat on the table, commented on something and then there was a cut to the hands who made the stuff. They didn't say it wasn't him either, but I think the older kids could figure it out. I used to think that our host wasn't good at doing the Art Attacks, so that another random guy had to do it. You could win a trip to the Art Attack studio once and when they said that it would be in the UK, I knew that one guy (Neil) was doing the stuff for all countries.

It still looked better than Artzooka, some new Art Attack show from Canada. It is shot in Canada, too (except for that Paperbad Girl clips that were made here in Germany).
There are some worse scenes, where he is just doing some random movements, especially when "he" colors something. Maybe that's also because the host is so fake, I don't like him. The original one from Canda is good though. No Neil, but still good. You can watch him (and the other hosts) here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Fxx9U1FqNnU

I know exactly what you're talking about Rich emoticon I've still got that video. Actually, I've got them all but two. emoticon

This set is new and designed by Disney. Seems they film all the new series' in Argentina and some Argentinean man does the Big Art Attacks - not even the host. So it's made exactly like all the old international series' were, but with an silent Argentinean replacing Neil.

Yeah, all the versions were filmed in the UK. I found this video before, when searching for Art Attack. Skip to about 1:10:

And, behind the scenes is a part of the old Challenge set where they used to do the live links between shows. So international Art Attack and Challenge were filmed in the same studio. Everything always seems to link together emoticon

emoticon at Artzooka. You can tell he's not making that stuff because the shot of his face doesn't show the desk. If he was it'd be a further-out shot showing his hands making it.

Here's the promo for the new version:

Makes me hate the new version even more!
VINCENT VAN COCONUT?!?!?! emoticon
The Head is better hands down!
And Jassa will never be as good as Neil Buchanan, IMO!

It's impossible for Jassa to ever be as good a Neil as he doesn't make anything at all. He just pretends it's him while the hands are of some Argentinean person. I've see the Brazilian, Indian and some other country's version of this new Art Attack and they all make exactly the same stuff with exactly the same clips of the man's hands making them. I've seen the cars in that preview be made in the Brazilian and Indian versions. Exactly the same each time.

The set is crap, the palm tree is crap, the fakeness of it all is crap. The only person who is quite good is the man who makes the big Art Attacks.

Wonder how long it'll be until there's some sort of outrage that the new man doesn't actually make the stuff? Or if it'll go unnoticed?

They've got a Disney website up now:
http://www.disney.co.uk/disney-junior/art-attack/attacks/

All those Art Attacks are from the original show. In fact, I watched a repeat only yesterday where Neil drew that silhouette of monkeys on a tree! emoticon

LOL!! And Neil used to make stuff out of petrol and carrier bags.

TWENTY!? He's only twenty? I can't believe I'm two years older than him. I clearly should have got the job. I actually make the Art Attacks that I do in KHouTube, unlike him. He just pretends. Fact.

Yep, 20 is really young. Let's start a petition. Dan for AA host. emoticon

We could also ask Neil if he wants to produce a new Art Attack show with us. Our TV station needs more shows than just 101 Ways To Turn Of 101 Ways To Leave A Gameshow. emoticon

Nah, they couldn't afford me.

But yeah, we need another show on our station. To make it a total of two shows. Neil is a multi-millionaire now that he's sold of Art Attack so I'm sure he'd make a new series for us for free. emoticon

Disney have uploaded some clips.

Why do presenters on kids shows these days always talk down to the viewers like they're stupid/2 years old? There's no need to make the end of your sentence higher than the rest.

It's rubbish as expected.
Also, not sure why it's labelled as series 13. There were 20 series of the original Art Attack, so it's not even like they're following on.
