Either way, it’s not the best having Polcano every single week, Hole Number Two and/or Corn Hole almost every week, Full Mooney and Holeywood in virtually the same part of the episode most weeks and The Distractor/The Pecker as openers in several consecutive weeks. Im not against reusing stuff a decent amount or having designated times for certain holes, but this season just feels less inspired.

Whoa, this was a pretty accurate description of tonight (I did not read the episode description beforehand). This season is def the second most repetitive, next to season 1.

First hole-in-one yet on the Pecker tonight, it may have taken a fair amount of appearances for this to happen, but judging the putts in aggregate it does seem to be one of the easiest holes to do that. I’m glad the winner got it in the channel so it at least felt deserved.

The hosts pointed out something that I have noticed about Polcano this season - the two attempts at the pole are often pretty similar to each other (at least success-wise). Not only do we have the two episodes where both cleared and the remaining episodes with no clears, this week is an episode where everyone fell way short (I do believe the zipline has been altered at least once this season).

The Distractions this season are pretty good. I thought this segment tonight might go on for a bit (mainly because it was introduced near the start of the segment), but it ended after one putt. Interesting that they had Travis Kielce in the booth with no reference to last time. I guess they didn’t know which would air first.

I spent the most episode dreaming up a conspiracy theory: There are several things about this season that may suggest this season was filmed before last. First of all, the steady stream of Distractors is more reminiscent of early seasons - plus it’s played as an early round like in S1 & S2, rather than a final round as in S3. Then there’s the fact that they “revived” Polcano with so little comment - I thought nothing of it at the time, but it’s funny that they joked a decent amount about Ho Ho Hole being a redo of Polcano, but have never mentioned Ho Ho Hole at all this season (this isn’t really much evidence, but I thought of that tonight). It does seem a bit more of a natural progression for them ti have redone Polcano for S3 since it was such a good hole and THEN transformed it to Ho Ho Hole for S4 to differentiate it while still having similar falls. The zipline also seems more problematic this year than last, which makes me think maybe they fixed it this season and then it was fine for Ho Ho Hole because it actually happened after.

The most damning (sort of) thing is that they have several holes from last season just waiting around to be used (and they have been sitting there all season so it’s not like they were transformed into a new course like some stuff). Par are comes to mind as it’s always very obviously in the background, Agony of Defeat has also sat idle behind Polcano while Turfing USA & Putt-a-saurus also haven’t appeared. Holey Matrimony at least was tranformed into something new.

I’m not actually serious with this theory but the more I think about it the more it actually seems feasible. Last season had more games than this one which already seems weird cos why would they just not use some? Also, it kind of makes sense that things like The Pecker were used heavily here and hardly seen (well, I guess the Pecker is always hardly seen, or at least “seen hard(ly)) in their premiere season when they were new. Of course, the opposite argument could be made - Donut Hole and King Parthur are used so little this season, why couldn’t they’ve used more if this was the actual first season they premiered in? To that, I have no answer.

I definitely don’t think so, mainly because why, but primarily because of them using Polcano every week and never using some season 3 favorites, I’m saying there’s a chance they for some reason flipped them.

Thankfully, I got that rant out so I am too tired to be annoyed about the lifeguards wearing masks. But seriously, why??? I know this was Jan. 2022, but still so stupid.

Re: Holey Moley

So this season will definitely be the same length as the last with next week being the penultimate episode and then 10 being the finale again (avoid the programming description if you would like to avoid spoilers emoticon).

I rewatched episode 8 with some family tonight and noticed that there are a couple of different occasions in which The Distractor is mentioned in the Muppets sketches when trying to think of the final hole. This would seem really lame in a way, but then I haven’t seen anything else set up in the background for a final hole (unless they’re keeping this a secret). Reddit also seems to agree with me which (stupidly) gives me more confidence in my theory.

I thought it’d be something similarish to Parfishdutch (though not necessarily the exact concept) since the two seasons were filmed together and the same. I like The Distractor fine enough and I’m all for differentiating the courses, but it would seem a bit flat as a finale - probably worse than the season 2 Tomb.

It could explain the high concentration of Distractors we’ve had throughout this season - leading up to the ultimate distraction! I kind of thought the finale may have ti do with Polcano (since it’s been in literally every episode this season), but now doubt it.

A website confirmed that the final hole is the Distractor. emoticon

Luckily, that same website also confirmed that Parcade is finally returning so that's something to look forward to.

Yeah, I saw that emoticon I guess that explains why they saved Parcade… as a final episode surprise. I would’ve saved a good but less impressive hole for the finale so the other could’ve been used throughout the season (mainly because I know Parcade was one of the most popular last year).

Also featuring Full Mooney & Holeywood. Is anyone else extremely tired of the latter?

Also, there’s a new thread on Reddit asking whether this could be the final season. The thought never even crossed my mind at this point, but some think it may be. The fact that it’s already been 18 months since they’ve filmed anything is somewhat concerning, though I guess was always part of the plan after all! It does seem a bit weird to skip a year of filming and then come back, but I still do think it’s not ending yet.

I’ve been saying they should never film two seasons together again, but maybe we’d be lucky to even get two more seasons🤔

Penultimate episode alert!

This one was a pretty good one. There were some weird competitors though. I tuned in at the start of King Parthur’s Court so I didn’t get to see Dutch Courage at all, but the finger voodoo guy was weird and Boca Joe was annoying at times(why did he have to represent my area?).

At times, I was really rooting against the Joe guy, but I think what he was doing is more of a persona for the show because there were times he didn’t act like a jerk (see him clapping for the winner, kind of being a good sport when he had a bad tee-shot in Trap-tee-se). Why anyone would choose that act though, I don’t know emoticon

I was also really glad for Erika winning. She seemed like a good underdog and actually had some really good putts. Admittedly, I’m also glad because it’ll make the finale easier for me to follow as someone who can’t distinguish between similar looking people. I’m sorry, but this is a rare demographic of Holey Moley winner emoticon

Whoa, I never have more to say about the people than the holes, but that may be the case this week.

Good to see an absence from Polcano FINALLY. Though The Distractor and Pecker are becoming just as offensive honestly. Never a good idea to use your Pecker that often. Next season they really need a bigger variety of holes and lots of new stuff.

Note that the holes used heavily this season are either all-new for season 4 or holes that have been around since the first couple of seasons. Aside from The Pecker, there’s really no hole introduced last season that appears very much (Donut Hole and King Parthur barely appear at all). Also, I just noticed that none of the holes that were brought back from season 2 for season 3 were purged for this season. I guess that makes sense as they brought them back for a reason, but I would’ve preferred that things like Hole Number Two and Dutch Courage were rested rather than the newer stuff like Putt-a-Saurus and Turfing USA being outright scrapped. These are the things that have led to a particularly repetitive season.

The season finale being next week is really weird, this season has honestly felt like a whole lot of nothing at times, despite having its moments. Probably a good thing this season won’t drag any longer, but I will miss having this show to look forward to every Tuesday. Hope it’s back and better next Summer!!

Holey Moley finally being done might mean the return of Wipeout on Tuesdays. What a treat! emoticon

I follow what goes on but I haven't really watched in a while. The repetitiveness of the holes and the fact that they're overusing the bad ones has kind of turned me away. I was really disappointed with just how slow Polecano was. Top that off with the newer holes being a bit boring as well as the Distractor being the final hole and I'm just not very excited for the show. emoticon

Ah, I see. Basically the equivalent of what I’m doing with Ninja shows. It has been really repetitive and unoriginal this season, but I’m enjoying it more than I should be.

I feel like most of the new holes are pretty minor and the majority of them only last a split-second. The golfing itself on these holes is also not overly extraordinary. I am also pretty tired of all of them, particularly Holeywood. What I wonder is why they stopped using some of the season 3 holes.

Not sure if you’ve read my comments, but some Cliffnotes because they are pretty voluminous:

-Polcano has been used every week but this past one. So eight episodes in a row. It also seems to be less consistent and effective than it had been.

-I believe the past seven(?) episodes have had both The Pecker and Distractor included.

-A bunch of earlier episodes ended with Full Mooney and Holeywood

-Most episodes have at least one “run fast and avoid getting knocked off” holes.

I'm actually a big fan of Full Mooney. I think it would work well as an opener or ending for the Wipeout Zone.
