I don't understand the notion that the new show needs to be note for note the same as the original. I think the new castle looks nice. If it looked like the original, it wouldn't be doing enough to differentiate and innovate, which I feel is important coming from the 80s to the 20s. If everything's going to be the same, you may as well watch what is already there. Bring on the new castle!
But the castle IS an important part of the remake. This is not only different, but arguably a lot cheaper looking, which is a bad sign. The Thai castle prob would’ve been received a lot better - done differently but still looked good!

Re: Takeshi's Castle Is Returning
From what we can see, it basically is the Indonesian castle, but with the top based on the original.
(Indonesian castle: https://videocdn-sbs.akamaized.net/u/video/SBS/managed/images/2020/07/29/1765658691584_07290107_image134630_large.jpg)
Actually, it's even flatter than the Indonesian one looking at that - the new one seems like it's just a facade. I really hope that it's only partly done in the photo and they're going to add sides to it at least, because at the moment it seems totally flat except the roof parts.

Yeah, to me the two don't look too similar (aside from building style). I think the new castle is taller and the Indonesian is wider, which is a shame. I think a good castle needs to be horizontally impressive.

Re: Takeshi's Castle Is Returning
It's definitely not finished in the photo, so no doubt it'll be wider. But yeah, I just hope they make it more realistic and it's not staying flat.

Re: Takeshi's Castle Is Returning
Oh, I see, I’m a little slow on the uptake with stuff like this lol. Getting wider will be good (it’ll make me feel better about my own current width) but the colors are ugly.

He's uploaded another teaser https://mobile.twitter.com/GoodRod1/status/1543532004335316993
I was optimistic about the castle but not sure about this🤔 It looks more like Wipeout than Takeshi's Castle.

Re: Takeshi's Castle Is Returning
After sounding so promising at first the hope is quickly fading 😞
Yeah, that's Wipeout. These pitchforks have also made their way on to Fort Boyard this year too. Forget Covid this is the new pandemic.
I guess Wipeout ripped off Takeshi's Castle, so they're returning the favour.
On the plus side, the pitchforks are a good obstacle. At least it's not a smackwall. PLEASE DO NOT HAVE ANY SMACKWALLS.
I don't agree with whoever chose this neon colour scheme either.

Re: Takeshi's Castle Is Returning
I haven't seen Wipeout for years so I need reminding of what smack walls are.
Goes and looks...
Ah yes, an obstacle powered by someone hovering their finger over a button to garuntee eliminations. Those were the kind of obstacles that made me lose my interest in Wipeout.
After Rebooted and the Comedy Central versions, we really deserve a good new TC. Let's hope we get one...

Re: Takeshi's Castle Is Returning
I know I'm in the minority here but I'm actually excited to see the Pitchforks in Takeshi's Castle. I'm glad they're giving us new games. Even though it's a direct ripoff of a Wipeout obstacle, I'm sure it'll be great.

Re: Takeshi's Castle Is Returning
Don’t feel too left out LS6, my sister who’s never seen TC and has no interest in it said “that’s cool” when I forced her to look at the picture
Nah, I do understand your point - I love the Pitchfork Tumbler and it’s a good obstacle, but it doesn’t really scream “Takeshi’s Castle”. I mean, if they just have a few things like this, it wouldn’t be too bad, but they still don’t make sense in the context.
Obstacles for the sake of obstacles if more of a Wipeout thing, TC obstacles have more of a purpose/reason to clear them if that makes any sense. The theme in the background may help a tiny bit in giving it a purpose, but it also makes it even more Wipeout.
The fact that they’re leading with this may be the most concerning part. I was busy when it was posted, but I immediately got nervous when I heard Inui was producing it. Judging from Sasuke, that leads to uninspired and repetitive shows.
