Wipeout returns 1/11

Return date for "all new episodes", being billed as a "new season" confirmed.

I thought it was the 1st November, then the voiceover reminded me the Americans do their dates the wrong way round, so it's the 11th Januuary. Same old course, no fake snow in sight - and just a glimpse of the punching obstacle which is about as basic a Sucker Punch wall as you could get.

It looks like it ends with a shot of a new obstacle! I'm hoping it's a 5th season 8 starter. My theory is that they're going to air the final 10 season 8 episodes and the first 10 season 9 episodes as "season 2" with the final 10 season 9 episodes airing as part of "season 3".

Yes, that's my theory too and even though it'll likely be the same episodes per obstacle ratio it should at least help it feel a bit fresher from week to week.

Re: Wipeout returns 1/11

So when you guys think this do you assume ten of each separately or mixing them together? If they do what they did seasons 2-6, it'd actually help at least have something different.

Sucker Punch isn't as classic as could be, but agree this is the easiest/cheapest layout and probably the result of laziness rather than "creative" initiative. Interring though that they grab onto the ledge, and I believe this was already discussed, but definitely looks like it has an airbag.

Good to at least see something new at the end. It looks like possibly a Breakaway Planks twist? That would seem to fit the remake's style IMO and this one isn't a bad idea at all (of course just about any obstacle is after appearing 5 to 10 times unchanged). Although, look behind Camille in the clip and looks like a different final obstacle behind her, made up of smaller platforms or possibly planks? That'd make sense as they'd probably have filmed this advert about a month back around when they filmed the newer episodes. I'm sure they haven't changed the final obstacle before 20 episodes anyway - then they wouldn't be getting their money's worth emoticon

How do the British do it, then?

They do date/month/year.

Hence it being that way on this forum emoticon

Correctly.

That last obstacle in the promo could just be the other half of the punching obstacle, assuming they'll be two in the starting pools again.

I do think alternating episodes from the two seasons would make sense, so each year you have two courses but one carries over from the previous year. Better than 20 episodes with the same course.

Well the other half of the Sucker Punch is almost definitely the Pitchfork Tumbler rehash with John and Nicole's faces (come to think of it, I guess they couldn't get rid of John and Nicole even if they wanted to, considering they still have this obstacle to show).

Yeah, it'd definitely be an improvement to have two courses to switch between - hopefully they'd do it like the original!

In the trailer, we can see the obstacle in the top right when they show Camille. It's the season 2 ender and not an extra starter. emoticon

That was what I was thinking too, LS6, but I'm not 100% sure. It's a bit blurry in the final shot and we can't see it very well behind Camille either.

I just went back to the trailer to analyze the obstacle behind Camille, but for some reason on my laptop it actually shows me a much more zoomed-in version so I can't see the final obstcale at all - just the ramp. Which is weird emoticon BUT I noticed a few other things of note:

1. On the Sucker Punch shot, on the right end of the wall, we can see a rectangle sticking out with a bar coming off of that. For a minute I was confused by the perspective and thought it was back in the pool, but I'm pretty sure it's attached to the wall itself. Is it like a hand that slaps them as they pass (I seem to remember a hand being involved somewhere, but I haven't seen it since the original trailers in about February so I could be confusing it with something else!)?

2. Funny how there ARE actually bubbles floating around this starter, but not over the Double Bubble Trouble-inspired obstacle.

3. Someone in the comments said they're still casting for season 2? That's not true right? Unless there's another block involved in the season so they'll actually be alternating between the two currently unseen blocks? I doubt that though.

I'm kind of going all over the place here, but figured I'd gather all the info I could!
