Re: Weakest Link Questions

Section 9 - The First Ever Celebrity Special. (We're nearly there now!)

Broadcast on Christmas Eve 2000, not long after The Weakest Link's first series ended.

Competing - Adam Woodyatt, Mel Giedroyc, Sue Perkins, Vanessa Feltz, Nicholas Parsons, Louis Theroux, Alice Beer, and two others, Charlotte and Simon, who I'd never heard of. Anyway, on with the questions...

What were the geese doing on the Sixth Day of Christmas?

What C is a large North American reindeer?

Which country first competed in the Football World Cup Finals in 1950?

In C ockney Rhyming Slang, what are your "mince pies"? (Stupid filter! Why can't it tell the difference between the words, just because the letters are in the same order as a swear word... emoticon )

Are amphibians vertebrates or invertebrates?

As a goodwill gesture, which country has supplied the Christmas tree for Trafalgar Square since the end of World War II? (Sue said "Germany"!!!!!! emoticon)

What C is the name given to the furry tufts of flowers carried by trees, such as willows and hazels, in the spring?

In which US state is Mount McKinley?

What is the English translation of the Gaelic word 'loch'? (Dead easy, that one! Alice said "Pond", though.)

Barramundi is a name derived from the Aboriginal word for which animal?

Which German city is famous for its "Oktoberfest" beer festival and agricultural fair?

But I put ney on the end, that's what made me mad!

Anyway, the answers!

1. Laying.
2. Caribou
3. England.
4. Your eyes.
5. Vertebrates.
6. Norway.
7. Catkins.
8. Alaska.
9. Lake.
10. Kangaroo.
11. Munich.

This is it! The final set of questions, comprising Section 10 and the little out-take that they sneaked in raight at the end of the video, during the pathetically small credit sequence.

Section 10 - Football Special.

Competing were several England football players from the 60's and 70's, and Kenneth Wolstenholme, the man who coined the line "They think it's all over... It is now!". It was over pretty quickly for him, though, he got all his questions wrong and got voted off first!

In which Hans Christian Andersen fairytale does a plain looking bird turn into a beautiful swan?

Which kind of elephant has the bigger ears? Indian or African?

Which two British gangster brothers were convicted of murder and imprisoned for life in 1969?

Which comet is said to have heralded the Norman invasion of England in 1066?

Which former British boxer had the catchphrase "Know what I mean, Harry?"

What K is the most common British bird of prey?

Which term means the eating of human flesh by another human being?

The five senses are: Hearing, Touch, Taste, Smell, and... what?

What is one quarter of 20 million?

In American sport, what name is given to the process by which American Football coaches select promising-looking young players from the universities and colleges?

In which BBC TV series did Kevin Keegan famously fall off a racing bike?

Out-take time, now.

Which dog was sacred in Ancient China? (Contestant said Alsatian!!!!! Anne couldn't stop laughing, so they had to stop.)

In the human body, what medical condition does ‘hypertension’ describe? (They got to the end of this question before stopping)
