We have the rest of the zone revealed!

The Towering Flume of Doom is back! This is a launch I think most fans of the show could agree they wanted to see again.

The Rolling Stones version of the Rolling Log is the first obstacle. Because of how much easier it looks than Vertigo, I'm hoping they stop trying to justify the relay style and actually do separate runs.

We can also see what looks like The Gauntlet in the back. I'm guessing that's a Sweeper Run style obstacle.

The Leap of Faith appears to have raised ends that act as bumpers and things contestants have to climb. It also has the word "OFF" written on it meaning it's probably enter/exit.

Re: Season 9

Well good for them bringing some underrated stuff back! I'm sure the Flume looks smaller though. Of course it's hard to tell from the picture, but the scale certainly looks different to me. Possibly a bit wider, too.

Rolling Stones coming back is very interesting, but I agree that it looks a bit easy. Yes, it should be somewhat easier since it's not a skippable obstacle, but this seems more like the Mace from Splatalot in terms of circumference.

Glad they've made the Leap of Faith a bit more complex anyway. To me, the first part of the final obstacle is most comparable to the Gears of Fear.

Also, am I crazy or over Nicole's back does there look to be a stray path with a couple of Sweepers over it? Maybe that's part of The Gauntlet or it's just some part of camera rigging that I'm making into an obstacle!

Also you can tell that picture is taken in California! emoticon

I think part of it has to do with the booth being elevated. It looks a lot higher up in the left of the first picture! emoticon

You're right. I just thought the track itself was shorter in length, but maybe not. I think I'm just finding it hard to believe they've remade such a big obstacle and not messed it up in any way!

Do we know if it is still teams of two? I'm assuming so.

Disappointing all around.

The only remotely good move they could make at this point is having the next episode be from the new course (or at least alternating after one more episode on the original course). I doubt it though.

I don't even think the new season course is going to be that impressive - sounds like more of the same.

The trouble with a show like Wipeout is it always needs to go bigger and better (although bigger isn't always better). We've talked many times about how things took a step up for season 2 and then season 3 especially. It struggled to continue doing that in later years but there was certainly progression in season 4 in terms of theming and expanding on the shows original red/blue colour scheme, which kept it feeling somewhat fresh.

I will credit TBS with giving the revival a distinctive look visually by going with a simply yellow and blue colour scheme on the whole, especially in the qualifier, but obstacle wise it feels like rehashes and rejects from the original run and what we've seen of the next course doesn't really change my opinion on that.

Yeah, it probably won't be great, but alternating courses would do a lot for it.

And I'm negative as anyone on this remake (especially only teams), but the course seems like it should be a bit better IMO. We have an extra pool (hopefully they'll use them all at some point), Towering Flume is cool, Zone looks a bit more innovative to me anyway.

It'll still be awful if they don't bother to vary stuff, but even then alternating courses is better than the one course repeated weekly.

Re: Season 9

I forgot to post about this (which says something), but last week there was a new trailer on the 10th showing the Sucker Punch thing and... the starting obstacles we've already seen five times for some reason emoticon

Today was another new trailer with the Hoop Hopper, the Lollipop and the Nutcracker. I guess the latter is just an old clip, but if we have more Nutcracker to see I'm going to riot. Although I suppose having that would mean we get THREE (!!!) whole starters, so maybe I should want it after all emoticon

These trailers also pretty much dash our hopes of them showing the new course mixed in with this. So these next 10 episodes are still season 8, right?
