Japanese VHS release

Although I've heard a lot about the Takeshi's Castle DVD and their opinions. Did anyone ever own the official VHS release of the show released sometime in the 1990's?
If so, is it worth buying a copy of it?

Apparently, it's not worth it.

I own a copy of the VHS release and I don't think the content justifies a purchase anymore, especially now as we got such a big chunk of the original release.
It just contains a 40 minute-ish best of of approximately the first third of the show. It does look nice on the shelf though! emoticon

So mainly content from episodes 1 to around 41 then? As I wasn't sure if there were bits that we don't have from TBS repeats or not.

I'm not a 100% sure that it doesn't contain scenes broadcast later than episode ~41, but there should definitely be no stuff we're currently missing.

I’ve been close to purchasing this myself, but reviews like this have put me off! It’s interesting the photos on the sleeve are from the Obstacle Course Special if the content is from the early episodes.

Thing is, if anyone can capture the VHS tape in full, it will be worth it. As I'm also wondering if it has the original BGM's or have the replaced them like the DVD's?

Thanks for all the comments.

After hearing all that, I have decided to not go ahead and buy the VHS, but I am on the lookout for recorded tapes which may contain original episodes though (or a 00's repeat).
