Re: The Void - new water based show on ITV.

Still not a big fan of this show - and if the person who likes this show the most out of the three of us thinks the best obstacle is one that nobody even got half way past, that says it all. The obstacles just aren't good and the fact that four of them - including the boring first round we see most of - are repeated just makes this worse. A fine format, editing and commentary doesn't make up for the awful obstacles.

I don't know Takeshi1, I'm not completely sold but I'm still enjoying it for what it is. If this is the extent of the changes then yeah it'll get old for me soon, but if they can at least change a couple things it'll hold my interest for awhile.

Were the swings at slightly different heights last time as they were tonight? If not, that's something a bit different!

I really do like the Turntables (of whatever they called them), but they're a bit too hard. I hope they bring them back but change them up somehow. Maybe just allow them to spin 20% slower and it'd be doable. As it was here, you would've moved on by simply plowing forward and crashing into the second spinner.

Better Wrecking Ball this week at least. I was rooting for Anita as an underdog, but not upset that the other guy won either.

The balls in the final round were good too! Although I was hoping that someone winning the grand prize would be a bit rarer and a real special occurrence. Doesn't seem to be the case with the second episode having a grand champion and the first having someone come extremely close. But I guess that's just me wanting everything to be Takeshi's Castle.

I don't like the memory round very much. It's not a bad idea to incorporate memory, but it's hard to follow and the "first to fall is out" rule is poor.

Oh, so Ashley was on Can't Touch This? I knew he looked familiar. Maybe that's it then!

The Turntables would be easier by just having the dome later on, perhaps swapping it with the cross. It's the first obstacle though that looked to have some level of difficulty.

Hopefully they at least have alternates for the rounds they didn't change tonight. If they have two options for each round and just change two at a time that may at least be enough to ensure no episode has the same combination of obstacles.

That's true, that seems like a logical possibility. Though I feel it's more likely if they do have six obstacles that they gradually phased them out (like changing one after each episode), rather than continually swapped them back and forth as it's more time-efficient and cost-efficient. Something like yours would be better though! emoticon

Well if each episode was filmed as an episode they're changing the course every round as well.

Fairly confident they film all the round 1s from all the episodes first, then all the round 2s etc. Would be inefficient to do it any other way. If that's the case it's very much possible that they will have filmed several episodes of the blindfold seesaw and then several episodes of turntables so we may see them alternate. I do hope too that the other rounds change but considering the lack of creativity I wouldn't hold my breath.

Yeah I meant to type before that I had assumed it was done where all rounds of one obstacle are filmed and then swapped. It seems more efficient with this setup, although then there are also a lot of competitors per episode so maybe they'd find it more expensive to keep some of them in the area for the whole of the filming process to have them on all six rounds. Maybe it's all filmed in two days though and housing the contestants isn't a factor.

The usual clue in that case is if the presenters wear the same outfit throughout filming so they don't have to change. I wasn't paying enough attention to notice.

I suspect it's a bit of both to be honest - more than one episode filmed at once, but not quite the entire series.

That sounds about right. I'd imagine they'd have some efficiency system to avoid the max number of changes necessary, but probably not all at once given your evidence.

Do we know how many episodes there are? emoticon
