Big Ball Energy
I'm going to create this post now so that we can start putting any information about this episode here.
To start, the first and most exciting thing we've seen so far is that a pair of "Wipeout Legacies" are competing in this episode. I'm really hoping that these are returning players.
The other thing that we know is that this was the eighth episode filmed. Because 803 was a Nutcracker episode, it's likely that this episode will have the last filmed Spanker Plank theme. However, if this is the case, there's a high likelihood that we're only going to see DBT and the Sucker Punch 5.0 once each which is just a weird decision that'll hurt the show a lot.

Re: Big Ball Energy
Where are you getting this knowledge from? Is 803 last week's episode number? And if so, how do you know the Spanker Planks come in this episode and that Double Bubble Trouble will only be shown once as a result?
Am I missing something?
Anyway, this episode won't have much "Big Ball Energy" if the only thing that changes is the first obstacle. I've still yet to see a Body Blender OR Jiggleator variation, which is highly concerning
There need to be changes in the other two rounds as well, if it's going to be the same three overall courses every week.

Re: Big Ball Energy
When originally publishing the episodes to their schedule, TBS listed 6 episodes by production order rather than when they're airing. Last week's episode was 803 and this week we're seeing 808. We know that the Nutcracker was the first starter filmed so it's concerning if it was also in 803. We've seen 5 themes for the Spanker Planks (WWE, Social Media, Yacht, Food Delivery, and Clubbing) which means that if there are 3 Nutcracker episodes, we're only going to see DBT and the Sucker Punch twice.

Re: Big Ball Energy
I've never understood your logic on the episode obstacle count from the limited info we have, so we'll see what happens. I think though until we know for sure it's unfair to complain about repetition that may not even happen.
P.S. Can you edit the thread title to include the episode number (i.e. Series 8, Episode 2) as that'll make it easier to find moving forward. I thought this thread was going to be a comment about how underwhelming and undershown the Big Balls were on the first episode.

Re: Big Ball Energy
Thanks for the info on the number's, LS6. It would suck if the Nutcracker is used three times, but maybe 801 and/or 802 used an obstacle in the mud instead that we've not seen? It'd probably have been in the trailer, but you never know I suppose. Maybe they'll at least do something to differentiate it a bit if it appears more often. Maybe.
I am going to give it the chance before changing my opinion of the show, Brekkie, but the trailers do seem to indicate that the only change we get (aside from possibly a second Jiggleator variation) is the several different starters. I'm hoping that maybe all the trailers are made of just the first few episodes filmed (there are several clips I already recognize from ep 1 in the trailers, so it's definitely possible) and there is more to see yet in regards to obstacles.
Agreed on the title. I was going to suggest using quotes to show it's the title, but an episode number would be great too

Re: Big Ball Energy
Looking back we used to use the episode date rather than number, which makes sense. Or just TBS Ep 1, Ep 2 etc. I see some sites are labelling it Season 8, as I would, but others are calling it Wipeout (2021) Season 1.

Re: Big Ball Energy
We've got a clip from what I'm assuming is this week's episode! https://twitter.com/Wipeout/status/1379496360550957060?s=20
It looks like they're doing a straight man/funny woman thing. Instead of one smart one dumb like in the original, they're doing one making dirty jokes and the other worried that you can't say that on TV.

We also now know that the Wipeout Legacies aren't old contestants. Still seems like an interesting team.
After seeing both of these clips, I feel like I know both of these teams fairly well which I can't really say about the last episode.

Re: Big Ball Energy
Did they seriously cut that first clip as the man was finishing the Body Blender?
Same things on Poundabout and a very similar Rumble Room (the ending is slightly higher and no floppy hurdle, but that won't change much). They better mix up the other two rounds somehow or this is going to be an issue.
The people on the page are outraged about the hosts but express no concern for the repetition we're about to see week-on-week. I posted a brief comment on their page and someone responded saying they spent 25% of the budget on covid protocols. That can't be true, can it?

Re: Big Ball Energy
In an interview last week the executive producers said the budget went up by 25% due to covid protocols, which is presumably testing everyone as Camille doesn't distance from the contestants (though John and Nicole do, but not from each other).
I do think John and Nicole need to be given a chance - I'm not convinced yet, but I'm not convinced they're bad either. I do think some of the filming choices in the booth don't help either like the close ups or the awkward height difference making it look like Nicole is sitting down.
No variation but no surprise.

Re: Big Ball Energy
That's a ton of money Well at least it sounds like it's extra money they've added in rather than 25% of their original budget!
I don't dislike them, but after one episode I can rather confidently say they should've at least asked the old people first. I watched some other Nicole stuff recently and I find her funnier on those. It seems less forced and her delivery is just funny - rather than these scripted back-and-fourths. I think the hosts should definitely swap places though, it looks awkward!!
The Rumble Room is definitely a slightly different variation from week one, but I'm baffled why they went to the effort to change something, only to make it so miniscule. Also, they tease everything but the first obstacle which is just dumb - a lot of people might just assume the Sweepers and Nutcracker are back!
