Re: New season of Wipeout starting April 1st!!!
Wow, they moved that up, didn't they?
I have to admit, I'm pretty excited despite my current reservations with it all.
I'm guessing from what we've seen they may use the Qualifier starting obstacles two times each? I'm guessing along with the Smackwall in the mudpit there's another obstacle that hasn't been previewed yet - probably a slightly different smackwall Having the Sweeper Run bars raise up really is BS. Why not genuinely enhance it by having them go up and down IN A PATTERN instead of just another "made to fail" obstacle. Having the split-path is remotely interesting at least...
Does the Poundabout thing change? I keep just seeing it with the yellow bars, though a lot of the trailers contain similar shots, so maybe we haven't seen much of it yet. The Rumble Room being unthemed gave me hope, but seems it won't change either.
I'm really confused on the middle round. From the overhead shot it looks like: Drop onto fat Sweeper > (probably mechanical) square blocks > Ride to the finish on a grip (dangler, ring, etc.) while dodging the Sweeper. That seems too simple, but you say there is more of it that takes place in two other pools? Also, I don't think it's likely that the things they grab onto will vary, actually. They already have a variety of grips it seems like, so I expect they'll just stick with the four unique grips throughout the block.
The middle Zone obstacle does look simple, but I'm sort of intrigued. It's just jumping down from the raised platform onto the spinning plank. From the clip we saw of it, maybe it changes speeds as the guy missed it by a mile. I'm really interested in the final obstacle too, so they stand on the spinning triangle? Wonder if they can also stand on the hexagonal part? Probably not, but seems possible. The thing on the side of the finish platform with the black stripes is just a design, right? I'm paranoid that it's a ladder (as that'd mean the Washout Zone is back), but I'm almost certain it's not..
A couple of the grips in the second round look pretty tough and kind of ninja-esque. Just thought that was interesting to note.
Also, I like the new hosts but they're going to be hard to adjust to. You never would've heard the Johns yelling "Yes queen" in the Zone for instance Or saying "I haven't seen a man bounce around like that since last night" At least I hope they wouldn't

Re: New season of Wipeout starting April 1st!!!
I'm almost certain that we have variations in the things they grab onto.
In that clip of the first stage from overhead, you can see a trapeze, rope, ring, and dangler. In the clip of someone falling using a ring, you can see some orb thing not seen in the first shot. The fact that they're thinking about variation makes me hopeful for the Poundabout. What's also important to remember is that we've actually only gotten a clear shot of one side of the Poundabout. We've only barely seen a shot of a hoop in a clip of the Rumble Room. I'm remaining hopeful because there is SO MUCH they can do to play to the strengths of the Total Carnage layout.
We can see that the unseen obstacle in the mud pool has a long trampoline making me think they're bringing back the Mashmallows. If they brought back something like the Pitchforks, my guess is they would look a lot more like the season 3 version with the new color scheme like with the RRaBST.
I'm REALLY hoping that we get some substantial variation in this course if we aren't getting a B course. In order to add variation to the middle round and zone, they'll probably have to replace entire obstacles. However, I could see them doing something like taking the triangles off the hexagons and just having them run across the hexagons. The Poundabout and Rumble Room have the potential for variation but I have my doubts. If they did switch out something like the Rumble Room, my guess is we haven't seen it because those episodes haven't been edited yet. Personally, I'm hoping to see a return of the Double Barrel because it has those absolutely brutal falls that they just love to put in their trailers. I'm hoping that if something else is in store for us, that we'll start seeing it pop up soon.
Lastly, in a post Nicole made on Instagram today, she pretty much confirmed filming was over by saying, "What a wild time but dang it truly was fun." I'm hoping that this reboot gets good ratings so that they'll make more of it and hopefully give us more variety in a future season.

Re: New season of Wipeout starting April 1st!!!
It was inevitable we'd get quite a few obstacles that we'd essentially seen before, but it does feel like the course creators of this season have only seen season 5.

It's a shame that a lot of the original crew didn't return. I wouldn't mind them getting whoever came up with the Tether Beater and having them create every obstacle forever.

Didn't remember that one but it's a goodie:
Tether Beater
Talking of obstacle names if they're passing the last one in the qualifier off as a ship surely it'll be "Ship Shake".

Construction for Holey Moley season 3 has begun.

I'm really hoping that we get 10 episodes, a mid-season finale, and then 10 episodes with another course. I've been wondering how long it takes to film 20 episodes anyways. If they only have 6 teams in the qualifier, they could film 2 qualifiers in a day. However, I doubt this because I don't see them doing the themed starter with the same theme twice.

Might be time for me to get back to the Holey Moley thread as that picture has me excited! Not much to take away from that pic yet though...

6 teams in the qualifier? To be honest in the original the couples versions sometimes dragged because they had half as many runs to show, and that was when they had two middle rounds. If there are only six it's going to be bloody Washout style with each run shown pretty much in full.

I'm really holding out hope for them doing 12 teams in qualifier and then splitting the teams that move on into 2 groups of 3 teams for the middle round with the first team from each round advancing.

Re: New season of Wipeout starting April 1st!!!
Well, it's gonna be ridiculous if it's six teams. Surely it has to be 12 - the possibility of 6 never even crossed my mind Maybe I'm wrong for that though...
