New season of Wipeout starting April 1st!!!

We finally got the relase date of TBS Wipeout's new season in the last trailer, which is the fifth trailer. emoticon emoticon emoticon

It's been confirmed to be on April 1st so get ready everyone!

We also got some new footages of the obstacles, I personally have the feeling that this season will be very similar to the fifth one, both summer and winter, considering the amount of obstacles that they are reusing from that one.

The accompanying trailer doesn't particularly reveal anything new, but does reveal they've kept Smallsy, which is pretty pointless IMO.

Also confirmed the sweepers in the second round are for jumping on rather than running past.

I'm really excited for this to drop. However, the fact that it's premiering in April makes me nervous that we won't be seeing a B course for 20 episodes. Hopefully it'll be something like what Brekkie said. Maybe we'll get a mid season finale and they'll come back with another course for the other 10 episodes.

I can't tell if the Sucker Punch pool is back or if that's another mud start. Either way that weird combination of Driver's Ed and the Sucker Punch looks amazing and absolutely brutal.

The Red White and Blue Sweeper Trees are also returning with an alternate Topple Tower path for the second person running. Should be interesting.

That new middle obstacle for the zone looks kind of bland but I guess it'll have some good falls.

The commentary seems pretty good and I'm excited to see that the qualifier and middle round are like.

What is notable is how familar everything is - you could pretty much substitute every single clip for an equivalent scene from the original run.

Whether that is good news or not I'm not sure - probably is for the casual audience, not so much for the most loyal fans who like the show to evolve.

We will have to wait until April but yeah we haven't see any big variations in Qualifier or Zone so it will probably be a single block. emoticon
So far, we know they have one qualifier, two middle rounds and a zone.

We don't know that there are 2 middle rounds. Every clip of a middle round that we've seen comes from a MASSIVE round that spans across 3 pools.

I haven't lost all hope for a B course. We've seen Nicole wearing 2 outfits in the zone which suggests 2 days of filming. They could probably get through about 5 episodes worth of zone a night which is perfect if we are getting a B course.

I'm gonna try to put together a schedule of sorts that could fit in filming 2 courses from October until now.

Qualifier - 20 days - Even with them reusing starts, they still have to switch out themes (and hopefully the Total Carnage obstacles).

Round 2 - 5 days - I'm assuming that they can get through 4 episodes worth of filming for this round in 5 days assuming that 4 groups go a day. It's safe to assume that things like what you grab onto will have some variation but it shouldn't be too hard to switch out. I'm nervous about not getting a new middle round even if there are 2 blocks.

Zone - 4 days - Zone shoots are loooong and go into the very early hours of the morning. With all the shots in the trailer showing the hosts in 2 outfits, I'm going to assume that it takes 2 days to film each zone.

My probably very inaccurate schedule thing has the total amount of filming dates at 29. That should leave plenty of time to switch out the staple obstacles in the qualifier and probably install a new zone. Like I said, I don't know about us getting a second middle round.

Soooooo...
Re-skinned smackwall, oddly simplistic middle zone ob - I certainly hope there's more to it than what we've seen but I honestly doubt it, the sweeper bars moving upwards like the Swept Away ones - admittedly a small petty thing of mine which I'm frankly not surprised by, almost certainly only three teams in round 2... quite a few things I saw which I'm not a fan of.

Don't get me wrong, I'm much more happy that it's back than not back at all but it frustrates me somewhat to see things that didn't really work well in the old show coming back for the reboot. I'm also a bit concerned that we're getting clips from right across the course but only seeing 4 starters and not one sight of the middle part of round 2 - I hope my instincts are wrong here but are they only showing 4 because there's only 4 and are they not showing the middle of round 2 because it's unentertaining filler between the two main pools? I hope I'm wrong.

Enough negative tho - the revamped Snowglobe looks great, the zone-ending hexagons have much more to their movement than I first thought, double bubble trouble is a great choice for a returner, what we have seen of round 2 looks fantastic and I'm liking the hosts more and more each time I see them - live zone commentary is a great addition too I must add.

Still very excited for new Wipeout episodes - and tbs seems so far to have done a much better job than I thought they would, hopefully I can still say that when the episodes start airing in less than two months!

Loving the optimism but I find it almost impossible we're getting 2 blocks - perhaps if it's like I think Brekkie suggested in filming 2 separately airing 10-episode blocks but otherwise it's going to be one big block I think. The other alternative is they could have swapped out the back two qualifier obstacles half way through and haven't edited those episodes yet so they're not appearing in commercials but tbh I'm not convinced. (Also Nicole's defo been seen in more than 2 different outfits in that zone booth - there were 3 in that trailer alone I think)

Yeah I was off about the outfit thing.

I'm still holding out hope because while the new zone doesn't look bad, I highly doubt it'll be good enough to keep us entertained for 20 episodes.

I'm hopeful that we'll be getting a lot more than 4 starts this season. The Sweeper + Nutcracker Combo, Double Bubble Trouble, and Sucker Punch x Driver's Ed don't have themes which makes me less worried that they'll reuse them. The smackwall obstacle pretty much relies on the decal so it's easier to retheme. Think of it like the Henson Headshots or Wipeout Lanes.

As for the middle part being boring filler, this is probably the case. The hurdles probably won't be that entertaining and there isn't much else that could be there.

I'm not too annoyed by the sweepers moving up. I've always thought that the qualifier should be about seeing who could take a hit above all.

Something that worries me about the middle zone obstacle is how simplistic it is. I'm really hoping that they didn't run out of money because that could spell disaster for the reboot.

The outfit is nothing to go by - usually they'd change per episode filmed. I think at best they can film 2 sets of zone episodes in a night too - think that's part of the reason they cut them to 3 people so they could do that, rather than one set of four.

I'm certain there isn't another course sadly - I think the best we can hope for is this run is just 10 episodes and the remaining 10 will be filmed on another course, or at least this course with significant tweaks. Just a shame there isn't an alternate middle round at least.
