I plan on having interviews next time (don't worry, it will be like TC, not Washout. I actually like the show emoticon , but the interviews are annoying). Guess what Messup, my mom's one of them.

emoticon That's cool! Look forward to seeing that. Also lots of respect for carrying this on - as I only made one episode of my TC remake before giving up because nothing worked emoticon

You've got it down! emoticon

Well, my brother has renounced guardship, and both siblings have renounced watching it. The watching isn't as much of a problem, though the writing is. He's done this before, though... Hope he changed before we film the next episode!

Why? Well that sucks, but I feel your pain trying to get siblings to do stuff! They may eventually change their mind from my experience emoticon

No, I don't even know where it's at - I think the clips are on some old harddrive and aren't even connected emoticon

As I expected, they like it again now. Still looking for along the lines of
Quote:

Okay, okay, it's not perfect, but that was DEFINITELY a promising start emoticon It's been a few years since I've seen a new episode of TC that makes me feel this confident and hopeful for the future of the show! Indonesia did have a good patch, but even in it's best times, it was severely limited in games and always annoying to watch.

This show... is annoying, but only at times emoticon The effects and all that's applied is unnecessary, but bearable.

Sorry, but I'm just going to shout a few things:

WE WON'T SEE EVERY GAME EVERY SINGLE WEEK! THERE ARE NO ANNOYING EMOJIS APPEARING ON THE SCREEN EVERY FIVE SECONDS! THEY SHOW THE NUMBERS REMAINING AFTER EACH GAME AND GIVE THE STORY A SOMEWHAT REALISTIC FEELING! THE STORY DOESN'T TAKE TEN MINUTES TO TELL BETWEEN EACH GAME! THEY HAVE AN ORIGINAL, WELL-MADE INTRODUCTION TO EACH GAME! EACH GAME IS PACED WELL, AND THE WHOLE SHOW IS EDITED IN A WAY THAT RESEMBLES THE ORIGINAL!

emoticon I am very impressed right now.

I was expecting to come and complain about not getting near the 50 games we were promised, but I don't feel like complaining about this! The games are are solidly-built and fun to watch. And, honestly, I'm so used to all of these remakes using the same four games every week that this feels like enough of a treat.

It really shared some stuff with the original. Music, pacing, even having an all-male episode to begin the series!

emoticon Sorry, and not having women is one of the major sticking points for this show. I'm not trying to disrespect the country's beliefs, but I think people see my point (on a larger scale than TC even).

I also was going to complain about the castle stuff being dumb, but it already has so much more going on than Indonesia's lame "sitting & talking" room. For how quick the castle scenes are, the small sketches and jokes (that I don't understand anyway) that they do are more than sufficient emoticon

Anyway, the games!

I do hope there is a substitute for Slippery Wall - it's a shame that Indonesia/Vietnam may have solidified the idea that there is only one starting game. If nothing else, I'm hoping for some variations.. emoticon Anyway, I'm not feeling so harsh about the wall's colors anymore - all that sand can do with a bit of contrast! And the little mud-pits are a great touch, as well. This game almost felt too fast with its editing! emoticon A pleasant dilemma.

Blueberry Hill was alright. I guess the berries were a bit overly-ripe, as they sagged more than they rolled emoticon But they can definitely roll when the guard pushes them, which is great! Always good to have multi-player games, too? I assume/hope we have Skittles in future episodes? emoticon

Yes, Honeycomb Maze's editing is a bit too jumpy to follow easily, but I think it kind of fits the game. I'm sure the original show did that, as well, honestly. The designs on the doors and the floors almost make me dizzy as I watch it, lol. It looks cool, though. And the guards did catch a couple of people - and used paint on their faces! emoticon I'm completely fine with the decision to use green paint, seeing as the black is easy to misinterpret Also, notice that the General (do we have his name yet?!) enters the Maze after the contestant and stands around in the first room.

They had a model Wipe Out in the castle! I appreciated that touch a lot. It's like the producers of this are true fans of the original emoticon The game itself was okay. The giant platform in the middle actually makes the game feel smaller, and the fact that there's no guard to throw losers in doesn't help things. I liked the way the board was pretty sturdy - less of a wobbly ride than the Japanese one, but harder hits when people fall emoticon However, the board stopping completely two times on that one guy's run was disappointing. Also that they let him under the alligator. Hopefully cheating is something they sort out in the future! But the set-dressing was good emoticon

I loved Sumo Rings! This is the first time in several years that we've seen a game with five guards that players choose between, so it looked pretty impressive! And they picked colored balls from a box emoticon Unfortunately, we can't have any Pauline-esque wrestler on this version, and I could use one, seeing as I'm so far finding the wrestlers to be pretty interchangeable. Hopefully they establish characters/reputations over time. The green wrestler did make me think of Bruce Ling, at least emoticon

I think the rules are that the loser is whoever sets both feet completely off the ring first. A bit weird I know, but the green guy never had both of his feet completely off the ring at any time. His right foot slipped way back, he stepped back in, his left foot stepped back and so did his right, but it was still on the ring. Then the contestant was eliminated when both his feet touched the sand. It kind of makes sense with the full circles they use (rather than just having a ring with sand in the middle) that they might make that rule. It's strange that they went that route, though. I just wish they'd colored the side of the outer-rings, so they weren't all just yellow from the front view. Also, I can't tell the red and pink(?) balls apart! I thought the first contestant had got a red ball, but he got the chubby guy instead emoticon

Unfortunately, Skipping Stones isn't very good. The stones look so fake, and I don't know why they started with that giant stone. emoticon The pool looks so artificially blue and a lot less natural than Skipping Stones should. The wall the contestants enter the game through is silly, as it makes the game feel too enclosed - and Skipping Stones shouldn't feel like that. The good thing is that it produced a couple of decent wipeouts, but the pool feels too small for the game, honestly.

Now Knock Knock has the hill that Skipping Stones could desperately use (albeit a bit too big)! In all seriousness, Knock Knock worked pretty well. The ground was muddy, there were nets, guards chasing people around, and small pits to fall into emoticon AND they used paper doors - that's really important for Knock Knock, I think. Using six rows of doors is interesting - I wonder why they felt the need to increase it? It seems like there are few bad doors in this game (and most are netted-off instead of being blocked by a crossbar), but surely it's easier to add more bad doors than add two extra walls? Interesting choice - maybe we'll see a Knock Knock II attempt (though that'd probably be too crowded and quick) at some point?

Yeah, Palm Tree Trip is definitely more Corncob than Mushroom. I'm really happy with how quickly it spun and how long it took to reach the platform emoticon Unfortunately, this stalk is also too thin, so hardly anyone falls before the platform emoticon I do like how they have no net at the start, and prettyb interesting to see the guard standing in the scaffolding controlling it (another similarity to Corncob Trip emoticon ).

Did I forget to warn them that turning the rollers as the contestant runs is just like putting a giant Smackwall in the middle of a good obstacle on Wipeout? emoticon Did they get the idea from Indonesia?! I mean, it was still kind of fun to watch, but I don't think there should be five guards doing everything in their power to roll you off - that's not the point of the game! As a twist it'd be fine, but I really hope we see them introduce a straight-forward version soon. The issue is that it seems hard to make them spin when stepped on emoticon

Home Run (or "Goal"?) really was a surprising game! I had no idea about it either, and it's interesting that it was selected to be the final AND the only nighttime main game! I wonder if this is the extent of the "Saudi Arabic original" games or if there will be others that are completely new concepts?! The game works well enough too - though I'd say the guards being able to push the soccer ball after they release it is overkill. The guy who ricocheted and rolled off the finish platform emoticon

Final Fall was alright. It's hard to give it a great atmosphere in a desert, but they did a decent job. I think some dramatic/creepy music would actually HELP, in this case. It needs a little something more than what it has. And hopefully they change-up the distraction guard/object in the future, though I doubt they will. They showed us about ten attempts and we only saw two people clear! It's almost as if they edited it as a main game and wanted to keep the number of clears they showed somewhat consistent. But that makes things pretty lopsided.

With main games like Skipping Stones and Knock Knock, we accept by now that only a handful of people play each, so only losing ~7 players per game doesn't seem too weird. But with Final Fall, we know everyone plays it, so it only seems appropriate to show about 3/5 people making it. We should definitely see at least half of the competitors on-screen in this game choosing a safe hole, really.

Yeah, the editing of the Show Down is awful - they truly just cut to a shot of each ring already being broken emoticon It's a shame as the game looks kind of cute and exciting, but it's so hard to follow with such snappy editing. And yes, I really, reeeeally hope they don't go for a winner every two weeks. It's not even unfair/cheating in my book to have a huge guard cart/smaller ring/more experienced guards - the point of the show is that Takeshi has a huge homecourt advantage. The contestants are never meant to be on an even playing field. I don't think they will get a bigger cart (though you never know), but I think they will find a way to prevent frequent winners soon - after (I predict) learning a harsh lesson in the next week or two.

Yeah, it wasn't perfect, but I'm PUMPED to have TC back on in some form! emotico n
