Martin Lambie-Nairn Today the news broke that the TV branding design genius Martin Lambie-Nairn died suddenly for no reasons given. He gave Channel 4 blocks and BBC2 '2' logos.
I wonder what ScottGamer17 feels about it including the dying breed of old fashioned TV designers? Speaking of ScottGamer17, where have yo gone?
Re: Martin Lambie-Nairn A sad occurrence. He had a hand in multiple design brands over the decades, around the world, that many will not even realise. The most famous of all being, the Bladed 2 and Robot 2 for BBC2, The Virtual Globe and Balloon for BBC1, and most famously, thecoloured Channel 4 Blocks, aired again in tribute to him. From a creative point of view, he 'gave us' Channel 4. Rest in Peace.
Re: Martin Lambie-Nairn It's okay ab25170, I'm still here.
Yes, I'm really saddened by this news about ML-N's passing. What a legacy he has left behind in British TV presentation. For me, I'd say the Channel 4 logo and BBC Two's bladed '2' symbol are my favourite designs from Martin's career.
rsmcc, you're so right about what you said. He won't be forgotten, that's for sure.
Re: Martin Lambie-Nairn Amazing really that for half of the 90s his branding was on three of the four main TV channels at the time across the UK, and indeed in some regions (Anglia at least) on all four channels.
