Re: Wipeout returning for new 20-part season on TBS
So I have finished the first season of Holey Moley. I didn't seem to find the thread so excuse me as I describe how I feel about this show. Will move the thread if needed.
Holey Moley is a solid show. It made my cravings for a non drama people beater show dream in 2019 came to life. The course is sure getting boring after a while. maybe they didn't have the course blocking but it will probably be fixed in next season.
The commentary was great. Maybe better than what Wipeout was. Rob Riggle and John is my favourite duo. Steph Curry is great addition and he is cool. Never watch Golden State game before tho. The site reporter was not up to Jill Wagner, but I don't really care since it's not Wipeout.
The course is nice. Nothing fancy and too much of people beater. But it wasn't bad at all. also it was fun trying to make up the course based on which pool in Wipeout.
Since the sequel will have 18 holes. And more course with water pool. Does this mean Wipeout will get more pool to play with? Or will it be filled after. Can't wait to watch Season 2 of it
Also looking forward to new season of Wipeout!

Re:
I think for season one Holey Moley only really used the Qualifier Pool and Sweeper Pool, so if they've used anymore this season they may have been able to use the other pools on site, though not quite sure what is there now - think at least one of the Round 3 pools was filled in.

Re: Wipeout returning for new 20-part season on TBS
Season 2 is much better and with much more variety
I'm impressed that you watched through all of season 1 Bruce - that's some commitment
I have been watching season 2 in full though because the variety is much better. I don't think they dug more pools from Wipeout, but did make use of the pools for round 3 and the Wipeout Zone this time.
I don't care at all where you post it, but if you would like to join in the main discussion thread, here ya go:

Another set of Stunt Sketches I've been able to retrieve from season 6:

Re: Wipeout returning for new 20-part season on TBS
Great find!
It's kind of interesting to me that in the sketch for the Wipeout Dump, they used the Wipeout logo borders, but the season 5 version (with Panic Hammocks and Comma-kaze). Also that the beam of the obstacle appeared to have a non-hidden Smackthing (possibly a hand?) for anyone who someone survived the mechanical garbage can tip onto the trampoline platform (which no one cleared anyway). It's interesting because on the real obstacle, there were several smaller garbage cans placed on alternating ends of the beam that I always wondered about, but we never saw in action because everyone fell early. Wonder what those did?
Also kind of like how the original idea for the Bounder Pounder (the trampoline windmill Zone obstacle) was just one rectangular trampoline going back and forth. Might've been an interesting twist to try, if just an aesthetic change more than anything else!

More generic casting call Instagram posts that are just a picture of someone face-planting on the Big Balls. Doesn't look like it'll film as soon as they said then?
Also "big balls"? Come on, at least refer to your star obstacle as a proper noun!

Re: Wipeout returning for new 20-part season on TBS
And just as I say it, we have our hosts!
AND THEY ARE...
John Cena and Nicole Byer! I like the look of them, although would rather have someone lesser-known than Cena because it kind of gives the show more of an identity when it has lesser-known hosts. Not that I have anything against him though! Hope they're both in the booth (and maybe have Nicole on the field as well) because one commentator wouldn't work well.
Looks like a cheaper and possibly more kid-oriented one from the graphics, but we shall see!
PS: Also strange that one of the two clips they chose for the trailer shows the John Henson Motivator that they only used one time

Re:
John Cena is actually pretty good in what I've seen but do worry if it indicates what direction the show might be going in. I don't know Nicole Byer at all so can't comment, but she'll obviously need to change her name to John.
Camille Kostek has been named as playing the part of Jill Wagner.

Re: Wipeout returning for new 20-part season on TBS
Interesting! The hosts definitely look good, so excited to see the course.
According to the comments on one of their posts this is airing Summer 2021 (which would make sense!), but not sure if that's known or just someone guessing.

Re:
That sounds about right - they'll get this filmed in the next couple of months then hand over the course to Holey Moley to film in the Spring. May get to air a little earlier but I think the original version usually got one block of filming done before Christmas.
I just hope they don't screw it up - my expectations are pretty low really.
