I honestly want no Power Tower (and maybe even no Mega Wall). The Power Tower has run its course in our version and takes too much of the show. And I think now that it's been used as a final obstacle, it would be weird to bring it back to regionals in our version. I know they will though.

France's Power Tower is quite different tho lol (pretty big course spoiler):
*The Power Tower is actually obstacle 5 on the heats course lol - the course starts like last year with two obstacles in row then it splits into two with a choice of the A or B path, each with two further obstacles to attempt. After those four obstacles there's then a single-person Power Tower before the Walls. The "semi-finals" (round two of the heats) is like last year a one v one race on a different course and then the finals is the traditional 4 stage course. I remember someone on discord saying about a year ago that if any ninja show was going to use the Power Tower for something completely different it would be France but I bet even they didn't expect this haha!*

Wow, that is interesting! I do originally remember thinking the Power Tower would probably replace the usual obstacle 10 tower, but now that we know it in its context, that sounds so strange!

Curious to hear how it goes though, and is the split course new? I feel like it's happened before but then I'm not sure. Is it an even split or is one route more balance-heavy and the other route more upperbody-heavy (or something like that)?

They've done a split path since season 2. In seasons 2 and 3 it was a choice of the first obstacle before changing to be a choice of 3rd and 4th obstacle in season 4. When it was the first obstacle it was always that one was a balance obstacle and the other was the kind of traditional ANW position 2 obstacles, with the new split there aren't really very often any balance obstacles but often one side is more upper body endurance whilst the other although still upper body is less endurance based but has a more dynamic obstacle where things could more easily go wrong due to error rather than lack of strength (if you get what I'm saying)

I see what you're saying. That's interesting!

Wonder is ANW would ever adapt that, but it's probably too late now.

Ninja Warrior France aired its final today, the top result was *Jean Tezenas (champion of the previous season) timing out on Midoriyama about a hands-width from the buzzer* and the overall result spread was *Stage 1: 5/28, Stage 2: 5/5, Stage 3: 1/5, Stage 4: 0/1* - overall a much more enjoyable season I thought than Season 4.

Also while I'm here, here's the shows we have to look forward to in the year ahead:

• Sasuke had very good ratings for tournament 38 so another can be expected sometime this year

• ANW as mentioned in the ANW thread is filming season 13 from March and the national finals in Vegas will return

• Ninja Warrior Germany is about to start filming their brand new All-Stars spin-off, with their regular season being filmed later in the spring to be aired in the autumn

• Australian Ninja Warrior has also been renewed and should be filming their fifth season sometime soon

• Also NW Israel is apparently airing at the moment and Sasuke Vietnam has apparently been renewed to the joy of nobody

Looks like this year is going to have a similar amount of ninja content to last year, with the majority of spin-offs having been cancelled and just the ones which have stood the test of time remaining for likely another few seasons. I think fresh ideas will be needed to keep them alive however, as even being quite a big fan who is willing to sit through many international versions of the show, I am starting to tire of seeing the same stuff being produced year after year.

The Aussie version is now filming in Sydney Olympic Park. There were rumours it had switched to an indoor arena but those at the recordings have confirmed this isn't the case.

Still absolute silence on the UK version so I guess the rumours of the axe are true, despite it repeating well last summer (and surely the arena would be cheaper than normal to hire now!) I wouldn't be surprised if ITV just repeat another series this summer. That said though even as things calm down although the show could be filmed there is a huge difference between getting 50 odd competitors together to film a physical show compared to half a dozen or so to film a game show.

Well as far as I'm aware Manchester Central is still set up as a Nightingale hospital - although I doubt that had anything to do with the NWUK decision making due to the time frames we're looking at. They wanted a winner, they got their winner, job done in their eyes.

Australia has finished filming their season now BIG OBSTACLE SPOILER: *(with a Sasuke-style final tower - yes spider climb, salmon ladder, rope climb)* , and NW Germany has started airing their All-Stars spin-off (it's a ninja vs ninja format). The first episode has aired and there's 5 more, each airing on a Sunday at 8.15pm in Germany.

ANW has also started filming - the heats went ahead in Tacoma and filming for the Semis in LA will happen this month.
