Surprised you saw an ad though - it's just recently been taken off of Challenge's schedule! One good thing you might not be aware of is several new TC remakes - Thailand and Saudi Arabia (which is currently running) being the highlights. No idea if you're even interested, but just in case nondisclosed_email@example.com (Messup434)Sun, 24 Nov 2019 06:09:46 +0000 Re:https://bkeshiheads.runboard.com/p357141,from=rss#post357141https://bkeshiheads.runboard.com/p357141,from=rss#post357141I saw an ad for Takeshi’s Castle and suddenly wondered if this community was still going strong, and sure enough it is! Incredibly it’s 16 years since I set takeshiscastle.org (later to become keshichat after I realised making websites wasn’t my forte). Admittedly it became more of a general spam forum after a while 😂. I seem to remember there was a preceding website which I set my site up on the back of run by someone elsenondisclosed_email@example.com (Treguard001)Sat, 23 Nov 2019 11:54:05 +0000 Re: Re:https://bkeshiheads.runboard.com/p357138,from=rss#post357138https://bkeshiheads.runboard.com/p357138,from=rss#post357138Quote:Treguard001 wrote: Well done Dan, glad to see your site still going strong Wow, a blast from the past! That's lovely. It wasn't that long ago that were each talking about how our lives didn't seem to be going anywhere, but at least we had this. Life means we've all scaled back our involvement, as is the way of a community like this, but hey. Professionally and personally Dan seems like he's doing great. I did wonder if maybe he had a better job or something that explained why he wasn't visible anymore, and I was a bit right. Only a bit. 15 years. Yeesh. Between weird rants you don't understand, and mint obsessions, I hope I didn't drive you too insane. Especially since... well... how the hell could you explain me to people? For yet another anniversary, I raise a glass to us all at Keshi Heads. Of creme de menthe, obviously. All together now... "Mmmmm... One expresses a preference for mentha peperita!" Cheers! Looking forward to see what's in store for the future nondisclosed_email@example.com (General Jonnie)Fri, 10 May 2019 16:11:55 +0000 Interview with DuffDan!https://bkeshiheads.runboard.com/p356020,from=rss#post356020https://bkeshiheads.runboard.com/p356020,from=rss#post356020Happy belated 15th birthday, you Keshi-heads! Thanks to a great idea Jonnie had, and Dan's willingness to take time out if the day and share some of his thoughts about the website and its future! We hope you enjoy. I interviewed Dan and asked him six simple questions, telling him to go into as much, or as little, depth as he liked in his responses. Safe to say he exceeded what I asked! Here we go then!: [Messup]: When you were creating the original Keshi Heads website, did you think that it would still be frequented and referenced 15 years later? [DuffDan]: I wasn't really thinking about the future at all - certainly not thinking about 15 years later! I created Keshi Heads because a previous website here all the Keshi-heads hung out closed down. I used to take the photos for that site (literally taking photos of the TV with a digital camera!), so when it closed I decided to carry it on myself. The forum came a few months later as everyone originally continued using the forum of the closed website. However that quickly became full of spam so I opened our forum on Runboard. I could never have imagined that it'd still be around, and still active, 15 years later! It's crazy. Keshi Heads has been around for exactly half of my life. It's kind of unbelievable and scary. Also: Amazing! And that's thanks to all our members, and a huge thanks to Messup for taking the reins the past couple of years. [Messup]: We know you've dedicated quite a bit of time to your craft, what would you attribute the success of Keshi Heads to? [DuffDan]: The success of Keshi Heads is no doubt thanks to the awesome community we've created together. It was always my aim to keep it friendly and safe for Keshi-heads of any age, but still fun and entertaining for those of all ages too. We're not a kids community, the site and forum has grown up with me and those other members around the same age, but it's still welcoming for the younger fans that continue to discover Takeshi's Castle too. I always tried to make everything I created for the site as interactive as possible. I wanted everyone to be involved. Keshi Heads has never been "my" site as such, but it's everyone's. [Messup]: Here's a quickie, but we're curious: Would you say you have spent more time working on content for the KH site or maintaining the forum? [DuffDan]: That's a tough one. For over 10 years I was on the forum every single day. Sometimes hours each day. But then I have created so, sooo much content for the site, all of which takes countless hours of work - especially the videos - so it's anyone's guess! [Messup]: As we grow up we all go through different phases and personalities. Soooo, would you say the same has been true with Keshi Heads' shows? This all started because of Takeshi's Castle, but over time, other shows became a huge part of it as well. Many forum members join just to talk about one show. Does any particular show stick out to you? [DuffDan]: Well we've had members join just to discuss Ninja Warrior and/or Wipeout. People who have never seen or don't like (:O) Takeshi's Castle. Both shows contributed a huge amount to Keshi Heads lasting as long as it has. Some shows I've loved but not many others have, but still created activity, like Yaguchi Hitori. But yes, Keshi heads was created for, and always will be, primarily for Takeshi's Castle. [Messup]: Likewise [to the shows], the forum has evolved greatly over the years, and many members have come and many (many, many!) members have gone. Do you remember some of the people who helped kick it all off? The people who came over from the original Takeshi's Castle forum? That guy who moderated the forum before I joined? [DuffDan]: That guy who moderated the forum. Hmm... What was his name?... Kiko?... Kiwi?... Keeku... Keke KEKE! Yes, kekerules. Meh, he was alright. No, but seriously Tom (kekerules) did a huge amount for Keshi Heads in the early days. Not just moderating but creating a lot of videos, by himself as well as together with me. Codex has also been a huge help over the years and a massive part of the forum too. I'd like to thank them both very much. Plus of course longtime regulars like latedep, josechung, and Messup. Plus who could forget rsmcc? Honestly, if you know how to forget him please tell me the secret. Haha, no, rsmcc has been the butt of many (maaany) a joke over the years. His whisper-shouting, weird rants, and love of mint are legendary at Keshi Heads. He's recorded hours of voiceovers for our videos; from KHE to Xtra to Tokyo Friend Park to VS Arashi. Via some very short lived ideas like KHRadio. A big thanks to our very own Norman Price too. One member I always remember from the early days is TuffMickey. She was a daily poster when we first opened, but suddenly vanished and nobody has heard from her since. I've often wondered about her and I hope she's well. [Messup]: What have you been up to yourself, recently? [DuffDan]: A lot! I'm currently working for a social app called Amino, creating video stories for them. This is my first creative job, and it's only a very short term thing, but I'm working hard on turning my love for creating into a career. There are other things happening very soon, so I'm keeping my fingers tightly crossed. I still work hard creating videos for Our Girl Jamie every week. The YouTube channel has just passed 50,000 subscribers, which is incredible!! Outside of work I have been travelling a lot with my girlfriend. We spend a lot of time together in France, which is kind of my second home at the moment (well, third home as Disneyland Paris is my second home haha - we're there at least once a month as we both have annual passes [thumbs-up emoji]). And I have not abandoned Keshi Heads - as much as it may seem like it! I have been working hard in the background. It's taken waaaay longer than expected. Too long! Something is coming though, I promise. I can't say when but I hope it won't be too much longer... Thank yoiu to everyone who is still visiting and posting. It;s amazing that you're still here and I hope that it will be worth staying around If anyone wants me, as I still won't have time to visit the forum regularly for a while, you can contact me on Twitter or Instagram - my name on both is @DuffDan08. Also if anyone out there wants to offer me a job, here's my CV...[laughing emojis] https://youtu.be/bBA3bfW8fMl -- Thank you very much to Dan for doing this video, and for all of your devotion to this site over the last 15 years. It's actually crazy to see how things have evolved on here since 2004. On the other hand, I've done nothing for you as a MOD, take your huge thanks back, Dan Haha no, I really appreciate it, but this forum is such a friendly group, as you say, that my role is pretty much unnecessary! Which is good, seeing as I myself am struggling to get on here every day now I learned a lot from this! Dan was telling me about how he was getting closer to breaking-into the editing and creating industry, but I had no idea he was working for an app! That's pretty cool to be able to say. I like the CV, as well I think Dan's CV needs more exposure, there are definitely a lot of companies who would draw themselves in the "I'd like to offer you the job!" face Thank you again to Dan for the great interview, and hope everyone enjoyed reading about the history of the site!nondisclosed_email@example.com (Messup434)Fri, 10 May 2019 03:25:29 +0000
