Ideas for using Rice Bowl Downhill ramp in a new way

Well it was pretty clear where the budget went for series 2 - to the building of the massive slope use for RBDH! Well this is a great game, it can't very well go out every morning so pretty important to add some new twists to the ramp - while still getting their moneys worth.

Three relatively easy ideas here - some a bit complicated but making use of the space with an all new concept has to be a plus.

First up and it is time for some Hill from Hell!

Essentially here we have the competitors starting on the land opposite the slope and trying to reach the slope to climb it - tacking a couple of obstacles as they go. First we have the Log Drop, which is stepping from the ground to the roller and balancing enough to step off onto the platform. Naturally, like the original show had in a video I saw, it spis! Next a simple Rope Swing really - and not at any angle as the image makes it appear - just a straight shot and land on the platform. Lastly is an obstacle that will change every time in order to reach the base of the hill. This will be a small, but unique item, and could be taken from another challenge, for example a segment of the Gibraltar bridge etc. Once on the hill, contestants essentially must climb the slope - no water but also not much to use to get up the hill. There are four stones on the hill that contestants may hold onto to help them but they are not placed near one another! If a contestant slips backward at any point on the hill - they lose.

Next short but sweet is the Reverse Bowl Uphill!

As you can draw really this is more a copy of the original rice bowl game. Essentially players once again start on the bank but must climb into the teacup floating in the water and propel themselves across the water to reach the hill. They must climb out and onto the hill, but there are three sprinklers lightly dripping down water which will make contestants slip. There is a lifeline though - a long rope to hold onto as you can. The trouble for contestants though is they only have half a minute to get from shore to hilltop!

Last up and ending with a traditional downhill variation - Sink or Swim?

Up at the top is a huge super squirter that will essentially coat the entire ramp and make it slippery, which this time is to the contestants favor. There's a lip at the bottom of the slope which will allow contestants to propel themselves upward and onto a platform that is sitting in the water. Contestants have to hope they have enough speed or inertia to reach the platform and then climb on top to win - sure we'd see lots of faceplants here really. Thinking too you could make a starting game here - give competitors 10 minutes to continually try to launch onto the platform and anyone who gets it advances forward. Or perhaps a battle sort of game - take out the red platform and essentially see who can launch further over the water. Also can mix this one up by having contestants sit on a doughnut or adding back in the rocks on the slope.

Great ideas!.. not as great as the size of the pictures, but still really nice thoughts emoticon

Your first game is kind of like Berry Bayou as it's a medley, though this time its quicker snippets of more games, which sounds good. Wonder if you could put a bit of water/oil at the top of the ramp to make it a bit more interesting. Or drop oil around the ramp and make it a kind of "pick the right path" game around the oil puddles. But that idea sounds good and the hill can work if you're eliminated right when you start sliding down.

Interested in this idea because this version really needs a timed challenge or two! You might be taking it a bit too far with only 30 seconds though (they do have to float over a stretch of water in a clunky bowl, climb out, and climb up a long, slippery slope after all), but it would probably work fine with just 15 extra seconds. I like the recycling but making of a new game at the same time! I just think that trying to get out of the teacup onto the slope wouldn't work as the teacup would be tipping and would start drifting away once it hits the bottom of the slope! It's a good concept, though emoticon

Sink or Swim is so simple, but so fun. Probably the one I can actually "see" the most as it's comprised of just one idea, rather than stages. Your variation ideas to it sound interesting, too!

Thanks all of you - and I suppose I am expanding our horizons literally and figuratively emoticon

Moving on and wondering how the guards should be worked into these games. I’d say two guards could be worked into Sink or Swim simply having them standing on the starting platform. Not quite sure about the other two - maybe just having them stand at the top of the hill so they can jeer when the players make it to the top!

Not all games on the original really had guards, so it'd be fine if a couple didn't here. Though TCIndonesia seems to pay guards to stand around at each game and do nothing, rather than spending money on building new sets emoticon
