Dean Koontz
I've only read one of his books (Relentless), but he has a ton.
I think the concept of mixing horror and humor is pretty novel, so enjoyed my first read overall. Parts near the middle did drag, but the concept of Waxx is so twisted that you remain interested/invested.
There are about 20 pages with tons of deaths and findings, which I was actually shivering out of fright to read
Anyone else read one/have a suggestion?'

Re: Dean Koontz
Only Koontz book I've read is Hideaway. No humor there.
It was mostly good, but I didn't like the ending. It felt like last 5 pages were written by somebody else than rest of the book or as if writer had been in desperate hurry to just throw in some kind of end.
Still better than the movie (not really bad, but disappointing after book) - that was... well, you know what Hollywood does to books, comics etc.

Forgot to say it, but the ending of my story was kind of disappointing too - the main character's son made time-travel possible, so he was able to be revived after being shot by the villain's Mom. I agree that the last group of pages felt really off-kilter to the rest of the book - and I've heard people theorizing (pure speculation) that Koontz paid someone to write the tamer/less violent parts of the book
