BGM Replication Project

I'm hiring musicians to replicate the BGM in Takeshi's Castle that was never available elsewhere. The first one is Surfin USA which I'm very happy with. I'm asking him if he can upgrade it to realistic instruments for the guitar for example (which is possible with using software and sample packs) but it's awesome anyway.

Yeah, I know there are already MIDIs of Surfin USA, but they're not quite the same. Here's the MIDI!

I think I'll do them in order, so probably Velcro Fly after this.

The second musician who can produce something more accurate-sounding (i.e. non-MIDI) will probably return tomorrow. In the meantime, any suggestions would help so others don't point out something that's "off" once it's already done.

Plans for more real/accurate Surfin' USA are on hold... for now. It would set me back over $50 on top of what I've already paid as the guy would have to sample his own guitar/bass. It would be a longer job, but it'll have to come to fruition sooner or later!

Here's the preliminary MIDI version of Velcro Fly. I think he did a good job so I look forward to what's to come.

There are two guys. One creates the MIDI and the other takes the MIDI and uses it to produce a more accurate version with samples.

Listening to the Velcro Fly one took me back to the days when lots BGMs were discovered left right and centre at one time. I hope the Take It Snow track will be made at some point emoticon

Those were the days. Back when I was in highschool and had the time to search.
We'll find em. Don't know where, don't know when but we'll get em.

I thought you were some kind of old man when you were harping on about millennials. You're younger than me. emoticon

At any rate, I hope these replications will aid you in your search.

Velcro Fly is done: http://files.themantiscave.net/filebrowser/share/P-vtVmKX

And I think my project updates will end here, or at least in terms of providing files. I've decided that instead of releasing it in incremental parts, it would be better to just handle it independently and surprise you with something great when it's complete.

A few details on the project as a whole...

Its working title is Takeshi's Castle Ultimate, though it will of course be made clear it's a fan compilation of music without any affiliation.

All music will be adjusted to match what's in the the show. That means in the case of songs that are actually much longer (e.g. the original song is five minutes but you only get to hear the TC part two minutes in) they will be trimmed to size, but still kept tidy and enjoyable.

In some cases songs are actually edited to loop in Takeshi's Castle. Some are even loops lasting forty seconds or less. I'll be respecting the music in Takeshi's Castle.

Subsequently, only songs from the edit will be in this soundtrack. Any additional songs from cutscene segments in the original Japanese show will not be in this. You'd have to seek those yourself.

Every "undiscovered" song that is in the UK edit will be featured as an arranged version with intended accuracy, like Velcro Fly above.

It will be released in FLAC and high-quality MP3. It might span two CDs.

I hope you enjoy Velcro Fly as a little teaser!
