Re: What would you think about a 3d game?

Messup, I see, well anyway when this game is done I will try a different way to send you the file, hopefully it will work.

Also thanks a lot beforehand for spreading the word about the game, indeed it will be great help as I cant pay for a marketing campaign =).

Speaking of controls you are right Messup, I think it will match Takeshi's Castle as not every contestant is agile and fast so you can try your best with the current control system and pass the event, thats why the testing and all opinions helped to make the game suitable for anyone playing it =).

Hi BlueMantis! thanks a lot for your support and comments =), can you show some of your 2D game works? I think a 2D game would be cool too, just I thought I wanted it 3D this way to sense somehow inside of the show you know but you see Im from those who played the Takeshi's Castle NES games even though these were really really hard to play without that peripheral, also the java 2D game (its in this thread if you are interested) so I think there is place for a 2D game too if you decide to make it someday =).

Speaking of controls, yes as you said its meant to represent how the show is, never really easy or every week a lot of people would win the big prize and Takeshi would still be trying to figure out how to pay all that people lol. Again as I have said before we are still tweaking things so if you see something that maybe could be changed just let me know and we will see if its good to be added or not =).

Oh and yes Im still at Skipping stones, this first game required more time but you know many things are going to be recycled in next games like score system and other internal stuff then the next games will be completed faster I think.

I did play the NES game but it was years ago. I haven't played the Java game so I'll check that out.

To be honest with you there isn't that much to show. Most of my experience has been learning how to use the software and working privately for clients, but I have casually been using Clickteam software since I was twelve years old (year 2001) and currently I use Fusion 2.5.

I've thought a lot about how it would work. For example, in Skipping Stones it's not entirely a matter of skill. Some very athletic players are simply unlucky and land on a bad stone. It would be easy to program that game and it would be mostly based on chance variables for whether a player would end up in the drink. If sprinting, I think the odds of landing on a bad stone could be increased, but you'd skip two stones at a time.

I'd use Spriter (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6vuPpPFDj1w) for character sprites since it's easy to swap parts, so you could easily create presets like the bank manager, lol. Or the player could completely customise their character, but that's thinking ahead a lot.

Most of the difficulty is in the sprites. I'm not a great pixel artist and I've hired pixel artists in the past, but it's not cheap. Totally worth it though if you have the money for it, even if it's a passion project you don't profit from.

Edit: Wow, that Spanish Java game is brilliant! I didn't beat it, but maybe next time. emoticon I liked some of the game mechanics and the sprites are nice. It really took me back to the good ol' days of paying £5 of my credit for a crappy mobile game. (Except this one is really good.)

Sorry about the delay in replying, well first of all here is another update, I think I fixed some things that were wrong before the heatwave and health issue, added the wobble effect, I dont know if its right but somehow matches what we talked, maybe the effect should be shorter, maybe there are more to fix in this game, let me know if so, I make a list with needed changes etc but sometimes I forget to add something:

http://www.mediafire.com/file/5yy8waj4tww54a4/KeshisCastleWobble.rar/file

BlueMantis yes indeed the Nes game is something we all know but is hard to master too, and Im glad you liked the Java game =), I agree the sprites are nice and the mechanics, some of them at least are really matching the game, I just would like that button reaction could be a little faster in some game but overal is really good.

I dont know much about this software you use, but I will check it for sure, overal looks like a handy tool that of course requires lot of time and skill to master. You sure are good at that if you have been working professionally with it.

In relation to skipping stones mechanics you are right, well actually stepping on a sinkable stone in the current project is not definitive, so you can jump quickly to next stone and still reach the goal but I think you are right and some athletic contestants could jump 2 stones with each step and they have less chances to fall. I think the way you described it would work greatly, if you decide to make this a reality dont hesitate to share with us =).

Also I see that your choice of that spriting tool looks quite reasonable, seems like one could work a lot of characters this way and even create preset like the one you mentioned lol, indeed sounds interesting.

Actually customizing the character is something I have always thought about this and other games but never really added that feature, in this project Im not sure about it either, trouble is it requires a lot of extra work of course but also how will everything merge in the game? will it look ok? so this is something Im not certain yet, I think in 2d its at least a reachable goal but in 3d I have to think you know but still I would like to add that if possible.

Yes I agree some pixel artist out there make an impressive work, I have never hired one of them but I will follow your advice if I ever need one, I make some 2d graphics too but if its about 2d sprite animation I know that I can very easily spent 2 or 3 times the ammount of time a pixel artist would need to achieve same or better result, so mainly I do my 2d things when I need them because Im dead poor lol, but I know what you mean, well made sprites are worth the money.

Thanks for sharing your thoughts about this BlueMantis, I will be sure to apply some of what we talked here to the project or future projects =).

Sorry about posting again but I think its worth doing this, here is another update, here are small fixes and also a feature I forgot, Dan suggested that we could throw confetti when contestant hits the other side of the pond and only when he jumps in the pipe we advance to next level, check it out.

Also it happened to me once that after jumping in the pipe and retrying the level the camera started upside down, its odd as I havent managed to replicate that scenario and each time I restart the level I reposition the camera and restart its rotation, so theoritically it shouldnt happen, well if it happens to you please let me know what happened, how you jumped in the pipe or where you were looking at when you jumped, probably this fact is what really matters, if you are looking up or down or maybe to the starting point or something.

Here it is:

It's always strange when you find a glitch, and you're not even able to replicate it!

Anyway, keep up the good work emoticon

Indeed its strange, well I cant replicate the glitch, could be a bug in Unity who knows, thanks for your support Messup =), well if someone thinks there is other addition to this game let me know, else I will proceed to next game (it will be some game where I can recycle a few elements from this one).

Re:

Hi everyone =), Im very very sorry it has been so long since last post and update, my health hasnt been at its best (Im still unsure whats wrong with my body) and well other things also make everything more complicated. Additionally as you know I make games for a living and I have been trying to sell other game I made recently and it has been impossible to agree with publishing company (you know like Electronic Arts etc but for independent games) so if you know of any publishing company I could contact I thank you beforehand =). Now back into the subject, I had to tell you all that I said because this made me have doubts on how could I publish any game (the Keshi's Castle too), I have been researching a bit and I have seen I could open maybe a Patreon account and ask for small donations to continue development, thats one option, for me it would be better to just sell the game on a store somehow but that cant be done without a publishing company, well its not exactly like this, it can be put on any store (like Steam) anytime but without a company behind the game, it becomes almost invisible to anyone so nobody would see it and buy it, I really want to continue with game development and the Keshi's Castle game but I have to think about what could be done so that there is a valid way to release the game. This is the game I have been negotiating for a little while without much success so far just in case you wonder:

Speed masters ASD

And well if you wonder, what I was doing in previous times was not like selling the games but putting games online for free with advertisment on start (like you see in youtube videos), you can check some of these in my site but they no longer pay me, I keep them just for the visitors, its at MordazaH so in that era this method worked fine for me but I had to change that and do other things because it was impossible to continue with that scheme, so logical step was to attempt to sell games instead and here we are, well again sorry if I went a bit off topic but as its all related to the Keshi's Castle game I think I should tell you also I count on you to any suggestion or advise in relation to what could I do with my finished game and the Keshi's Castle game when is finished. Thanks a lot for your support and everything really =)

WateryMimosa, great =), you can try the game demo with 1 game in previous posts, goal is to include all games of course.

Josechung, thanks a lot for your support =), I hope too, also what do you think about the possible ways to sell the game? I know this is a thing that I have to decide but I cant do it without counting on you all, so if Patreon seems better for you then I could try it or well other possible way to sell it, I mean Im a bit lost in relation to this as my previous game is not finding a way into the market so Im open to any suggestion

Edit: Patreon scheme I think is like people donate monthly to make the project continue but of course the game is available in the end for everyone, but as said Im new to all this
