2017 > 2018

Just like last year, as we prepare to bridge the gap to the new year, we have a topic in which you can discuss the current and upcoming year.

As we did last time, you can list the positives and negatives of 2017 and your hopes and goals for the new year.

Feel free to do any combination of the three if you don't want to type it all out!

I'll begin with positives:

-Getting to go on some awesome trips to Memphis, Daytona, Naples, Prescott, Boise and many of the ares in Ohio. I had great experiences in each city which were a huge positive of the year.
-Moving to Ohio. Although it wasn't the best timing (see negatives), I'm very glad we moved to Loveland. It's a great area and I like it a lot more than Florida in general. I now get seasons, which come with many experiences you can't find in tropical areas.
-Achieving (the majority of the) goals I set and seeing how much I can push myself. Cross-country was a great way to strengthen myself over the Fall and I've continued my ninja training throughout the year (as much as it looks like I've given-up on it due to the acitivity on my YouTube channel!) so I can reach my goal of getting on ANW and conquering it all.*
-Continuing to get good/fair grades in school. Last schoolyear I ended with only A's and B's which was a very positive surprise that came with lots of extra work in the final quarter.
-All my relatives and friends making it through the year healthy is something else to be thankful for. I can only keep my fingers crossed!

Now the negatives is a shorter list but still good to reflect on nonetheless:

-Occasionally feeling sad for not much reason. I had a much more positive year than the previous in this regard (and have massively improved on my OCD problems.. emoticon ), but there's still room for improvement. Just have to keep going and I'll be fine!
-Having to move in the middle of the school-year was a bit sad. I met a lot of people in Florida and will miss seeing them daily, and changing to all new teachers and classes/ possibly losing all the grades I've worked towards is all a bit sad. I'll be fine once I start next week though emoticon
-Still overreacting to failure. I seriously hate failing so I still have the issue of reacting well to failure. I usually cry or yell because of how much failure haunts me. I hate spending my weekend knowing that my last 24 pull-up attempt (or whatever goal it is) ended in failure. It's tough thinking that I've failed and sort of hurts my chances of doing better. Something to work on next year!

Some of my wishes for the new year are very similar to my positives of 2017, but here they are anyway!:

-I want to get good grades and make new friends in Ohio. I plan to work as I did in Florida to reach my academic goals, just maybe a bit more emoticon
-Now for one that is completely original: I want to learn a language in the next year. I actually did a bit of this in the second half of the last year, when I had a Spanish course, but now that I moved, I'm going to lose some of that because I don't have it over the second semester. I hope to keep all of what I've learned (and maybe gain a bit more) through online practice of my own though.
-Another original goal for the upcoming year is to actually do KHTV emoticon It looks as if I will, just have to film myself in the next couple of weeks and my role in episode one will be done!
-Keeping myself healthy in the new year and to hope that everyone I know continues to be well. I'm going to keep working to stay healthy and hope everyone does the same.. emoticon

-To have some more great experiences and opportunities in 2018. This is my most selfish wish as I hope to have some more fun next year. I'll make it a goal to do what I can to make 2018 an enjoyable one.

Cheers and happy New Year (almost) to all! emoticon Hourly countdown story beginning tomorrow afternoon emoticon

*Which I can now do two years earlier as the minimum age has been lowered to 19 emoticon

Re: 2017 > 2018

Thinking about it I’ve done so much this year that I would never have expected to happen. I haven’t even thought about that until now, but wow a lot has happened.

- I got my Disneyland Paris pass. Something I’ve always thought would be so cool to have. Speaking of which...
- I went on holiday on my own. NEVER would I have imagined I’d do that.
- Went to Poland for a day emoticon The first time I’ve been on a plane for 12 years, and the furthest I’ve ever traveled.
- I’ve made a lot of friends (or ‘acquaintances’ at least). I’ve genuinely made more friends this past year than I have in my whole life in total before now. That’s crazy.
Still lonely though 😅
- I got to be part of the Catch the Wave radio show family, getting to become long distance friends with Jae haha! Chatting through the show and actually getting to know each other, and him actually remembering it too, has been a highlight of this year. Sad news is that he left this week emoticon
- Jamie recording a video for me ( emoticon), and us messaging each other like bffs... emoticon

None of this was planned at all. It just happened. And it’s amazing to look back at all that now. This year started off the worst ever, but it actually turned into a really good one.

I’m not going to make wishes or set any goals for next year. I’m just going to see what comes my way. All of the good stuff in 2017 wasn’t expected, so my only hope is that next year turns out to be good too!

Happy new year everyone emoticon

Oh that's really good! It was only when I listed all of my trips out that I realized how much places I've gone this year. It's really crazy to look at!

I need not offend anyone but I felt a lot more comfortable this year with a new president who at least had an idea of what he was doing emoticon

Lows:

* More temporary work comes and goes. Ho hum.

* My sister getting pushed around at work, even when away in Germany, usually her favourite part of the working year. Left the rest of us seething.

* Having our renovations effectively delayed by a year.

* A nasty chest infection swept NI, and from December 22nd to 31st, my parents were felled by it. So for us, Christmas was cancelled by illness.

* And the lowest point of all, March 15th. My grandad died. As I mentioned elsewhere, the only one I 'knew'. He was 82.

Highs:

* Everyone's birthdays, as they came along, brought much needed cheer after the above.

* Finally getting the renovations passed when we did.

* Going to a MCM Comic Con for the first time, with my sister and our cousin. Meeting top voice actor Vic Mignogna made our day. Such a friendly guy.

If you can see the clip, at the very end of it, see on the left, someone wearing a green top and adjusting their glasses? That's me.

99% of the world wouldn't agree with the previous statement in your post?.. emoticon

emoticon

Anyway I've thought of a final hope for the year: All the violence of late comes to an end and the world obtains peace. There's no reason for all of this frivolous war and arguing and nuclear-missles or whatever, just stop fighting and get along.

It's not going to happen, but it's a shame that the world can't just get that 5% of people who aren't good to become kind people like everyone else. People who look to see the good and not the bad and celebrate good achievements, rather than plan to hurt everyone else. Just don't give out participation-trophies. I hate those emoticon

Wow, you really do look just like that cartoon character that Dan always compares you too. Identical twins emoticon

It’s taken 15 years, but rsmcc has finally revealed... the back of his head. Form a distance.

Still, like Messup says, we know what the front of you looks like anyway.

I keep saying it. How did you know? emoticon
Might see the front of me a bit better if we finally manage to find our way on to Pointless or Winning Streak.
