Re: Keshi Heads TV: Brainstorming Ideas

I actually thought about asking people for YouTube before. I even found some people to ask... it then I released how much work it did take to make what I was going to do and changed my mind emoticon

True. Maybe find someone who wants to become a bigger YouTube personality? Probably the type of person who'd actually want to do it AND they'd probably be happy to help make videos they're in.

Maybe find an editor as well? emoticon

Hahaha - yeah, you're right - knowing what you want to do first would help before asking people to do it emoticon

I was thinking you were talking about the ideas you came up with previously, when you hit a snag finding people to take part. So I wondered about taking a leaf out of Begiragons' book, where they advertised on youtube for people to work with.

Speaking of which, Megwin clocked 1 million subscribers a while back, so I guess he'll be around for a little while yet - how about dropping him and Bandy a line? emoticon . They seem to love doing odd things emoticon .

It's bound to be a lot of work to make anything worth watching, but that's part of the fun of it emoticon .

[Edit: Love the Christmas decorations by the way Dan! emoticon )

[Walks back in]
I knew there was a point I was going to make about ideas! Completely slipped my mind when I started typing though - sorry! emoticon The joys of getting old emoticon .

While waiting for public transport (which I spend far too much time doing emoticon ), I have actually been writing a few things with the intention of maybe making something for youtube at some point, but I don't know if you'd like it for KHTV - it's mostly travel and some science to combat some of the lousy pseudo-science stuff that's flooding youtube lately emoticon .

As for game shows though, I have learned something by witnessing the "around lunchtime gameshow testing slot" on TV at the gym now and then - there's some really impenetrable game shows out there emoticon . So, rules-wise, I'd recommend keeping it as simple as possible emoticon .

I still want to do that Taskmaster-esque idea I have. It’s a simple idea but should be fun. That’s what I was going to ask people from YouTube to take part in, as they’re not going to mind filming themselves, but the huge amount of work it’d take to organise and edit has put me off emoticon

Maybe we could find an editor off YouTube, too? That would at least take some of the burden off of you

We could at least film it (willing participant #1 here emoticon) and go from there

Yeah, it certainly can be shockingly similar to herding cats trying to organise content from different providers emoticon .

Outsourcing the editing sounds like a smart plan emoticon . There's bound to be freelancers out there, or I wonder if it might also be worth asking schools or colleges that teach editing for help - I remember when I was studying to be a sound engineer we got given a few projects that clients had approached the college with.

I really liked the sound of your taskmaster-style idea too Dan - I remember reading about it a while back emoticon . I wanted to offer to help at the time but was pretty swamped emoticon . I've got a bit more time now though, so if there's anything I can do to help out just let me know emoticon .

Yes, outsourcing! And I really love the sound of a sort of mutual deal between us and an editing school emoticon

..although it's probably not a big enough things to be accepted for a project, but you never know!,

Hahaha!

The tradeoff is that you have to watch a whole bunch of versions of it, and give useful feedback to each of the students. I should think editing for youtube ought to be a hot topic right now, with how big it's gotten. Mind you, the problem with it is that you get paid on youtube by number of views, rather than repeat views or satisfied viewers. So you get all those lousy ones with clickbait titles and thumbnails, which are mostly just still pictures and auto-generated speech. Before you even get to the fact that their content is terrible and usually made-up emoticon .

*Ahem* But I digress. Messup you're absolutely right, I think the thing to do is to actually try filming something and see how it goes from there emoticon .

Thanks for reading me mind on that emoticon

Yeah, that makes sense that we'd have to "pay" for the editing by giving feedback. I'm no professional video editor so don't know how much use I could be, but will always be here if help's needed. Sounds like a really fair tradeoff and I'll do everything I can!
