But they’ve bigged up how fans of the original UK version will enjoy this, and even used the term Keshi-heads. You’d think if they were aiming this at fans they didn’t at least get the English names of the game right.

That means Berry Bayou will be “Bridge the Gap”, when it’s actually a totally different game. A ten second Google was all it’d have taken to find the right names.

Actually, given that there are 85 episodes to use, they can mix and match the clips or cut out some contestants from games to use their appearances for later. For example, there are 10 contestants shown playing Cheat -er- Slip Way, then only 6 are shown. The other four can be cut into clips and shuffled into another episode.

With that being said, they MIGHT include some of the scenes in the castle, given that they give clues as to the twists in the game for that episode. This would cut the amount of time we see the games, but we can easily extend the program to be 45 minutes or a whole hour long. This will bring up the number of episodes to around 120. Don't forget, that's not too far off from what we've seen from the original, which was 133 episodes, and not all of the episodes (and not all parts of some episodes) were aired on Challenge, so it will probably stick around for a few years, if they can edit the footage REALLY well.

My estimates may be a longshot, but, hey, always look towards good things! Don't think about the reusing of Ch- I mean Slip Way and Turtle Hurtle since we can just discard some of the footage. There would only be five wins over the course of the show, but as mentioned before, we can mix and match, and that would include the Show Down. Even if we can't get 120 episodes, we might be able to just about reach 100.

So I wasn't far off when I made a joke about Wossy having to say Ridiculous Replay!

Personally I'm not too bothered they're sticking to the same name Thailand use instead of Avalanche. Comedy Central have already used the name Honeycomb Maze in their promotion in London, so I'm not going to lose heart just yet

That's pretty much how I feel about it. I do think they're only using the original format episodes though (at least for now), but they could probably get 75 out of that emoticon

Well the original show had more games and 23 minutes worked in the UK version - they cut a bunch of games like Quake, Slipped Disks and Karaoke most of the time they were used as they were ruled boring by the Challenge staff. Trust me, I'd not be upset if a few games of Slip Way, Wet Paint and Dominoes remain unseen in the UK emoticon I know we want cast stuff included but hopefully that can still be fitted in for about five minutes of the episode. It's a shame this couldn't be the BBC and have no ads (although then you all would hate having Richard Hammond host it emoticon), then 30 minutes would definitely suffice.

I know it's annoying when they get names wrong (people not capitalizing the game names miffs me lol), but I'm trying to keep a positive outlook that it'll be pretty good. If they referenced our site, they probably should've used it to find game-names emoticon

I would be a lot more worried if they did call the Honeycomb Maze something different haha!

But the difference is the original show only ran for an hour, so cutting it down to half worked. The games were only a few minutes long each. The Thai episodes were one and three quarter hours. Cutting those down to half hour is impossible.

I assume they’ll drop Final Fall, but they’ll also have to cut at least one other game out per episode. That or cut out a bunch of attempts in each game.

It’s almost a guarantee that there’ll be no castle stuff. I’ll bet the whole Princess Woonsen story won’t get any mention at all.

Yeah, I know it's not the best, but almost every episode does have a game I could live without (pretty much any game of Slip Way, a boring selection of runs or a variation that messes the game up). A few attempts would probably get tossed even then, but that's just like how they did it on the old UK version.

Remember that there was "only" 74 minutes of the actual show and at least 30 were of pre and post-game interviews so only really 45 minutes of valuable stuff, similar to the original show. I'll be sad to see some of the castle stuff go, but maybe they could have a first episode that gives the backstory (with some game clips included that fit-in with the story), and have a few "behind the scenes" (e.g. in the castle) episodes now-and-then so not all footage goes to waste.

I'm more worried that they'll show all the different games right away in the first four episodes to show that they have variety, and then end up having 45 episodes with the same games over-and-over. If they just stick with the original ordering then we'll have new games throughout, up until episode 32. Let's hope they play their cards right and give nice variety but still save some surprises for people who will watch every episode.. emoticon

Don’t go expecting any of the castle stuff. It’ll be like the Challenge episodes and all that stuff will be dumped.

I really doubt they’re going to mix up the order of the episodes either, so the games are going to appear in the same order. The advert is mostly clips from the first few episodes (though then they have Mud Ball and a later Skipping Stones clips, which is odd).

In the advert they removed all the advertisement (Milo etc.) with Comedy Central Logos. I guess they didn't do that just for the ad, but for the whole episode.

I'm just saying they could. It'd work nicely actually. As I said they could do an episode of backstory (using the original graphics they showed early-on because they looked cool), an episode of planning the games (show clips of mini Dominoes, exercise-ball Sumo Rings, Tug of War, and all the other games recreated in the castle, along with some of the twists the guests brought along with them) and maybe an A-Z with the extra bits filled in with other little segments (doesn't sound familiar at all emoticon ).

I'm just saying that's what I might do so they would show the castle.

I'm probably reading too much into it but they could've wanted to show Skipping Stones earlier than episode 11, so took some of the later nighttime clips and edited them into the first episodes. Like, they could skip the first Velcro Fly game or one of the first Berry Bayous and add some Skipping Stones instead. Of course, they'd still need to cut some games, too, probably emoticon

Radio Times have this as the description for Episode 1:

Revival of the Japanese game show in which contestants take on obstacle courses as they attempt to storm the castle. Narrated by Jonathan Ross.

To be fair it's a correct description, but there's no mention of it being shot in Thailand...!
