You're probably the only one who find that one funny. Which is not meant in a bad way, but we usually don't care about swear words.

You can even say all of them on daytime television, I've never heard any word getting censored (except for kids television.. but the public broadcaster had a discussion about enlargement down under... and no, I don't mean Australia by that).

Anyways, back to Ultimate Beastmaster. Yes, one of them is a Comedian. The other one is a former football player and coach. He's probably best known for being the German Chuck Norris, there are lots of Norris-eque jokes involving him.

I will watch both versions and report on the differences when I have the time to watch them. But what I've read they hijacked other countries' booths. Not sure if they did that one US version though. So there is some interaction between the countries.

I will have a look at both versions, when I have the time. But we might talk

Oh yeah that's different than what were used to over here.

Why would the broadcaster put that kind of thing on kids television?! emoticon

Yeah the German hosts came into lots of different booths. We didn't. Because we were always winning everything. Or something.

They were talking about puberty and that growing up is a different experience for everyone. And in the end, it's an issue when you grow up and people make fun of you.

So it was a serious topic and for the most time, they were just answering questions sent in by viewers. But the enlargement question was asked by the host, that makes it a bit weird. Otherwise, they tried to be serious.

They had other education shows about those topics, too. It's an important issue when you grow up and people hardly talk about it.

Yeah, it's totally different. You can swear and show nudes, but people go crazy when you see a gun or violence in general. It's okay in primetime programming (e.g. after 8pm), but they would rather not show it during daytime.

They even cut harmless shows. Dragon Ball GT was cut down by almost a third. They cut deaths from Dead Like Me when there was blood involved (even if you just saw the blood, not the death... the show is not graphic at all). On Sailor Moon, Naruto etc., people don't die. They just get knocked out, punished, put to sleep, etc.

They remove violence and blood and "cruel" dialogues, even when they don't have to. Detective Conan was cut even though it was cleared for daytime broadcast.

In the US though, nobody cares about violence.

Yeah we're totally the opposite emoticon I mean I know you drive on the right side of the road, but that's about the only right thing you guys do.

I'm kidding of course emoticon

Also I can't wait for season 2 of Beastmaster.

One huge disadvantage of Netflix is it's really difficult to talk about it online - you either have to be willing to accept the spoilers or avoid the relevant forums etc. until you've watched it all. Tonight I finally got to the final.

Overall a good production - looked great and focused on the athletism rather than being funny, but the commentary wasn't all about forced competition. It was quite light throughout, and I did like having all the countries commentators interacting with each other.

Having the same elements every episode (with just minor changes made out to be more significant than they were) didn't lend itself to binge watching, and by the last few episodes it was struggling to hold my attention throughout the episode. I also guess the episodes that supposedly began with Faceplant rather than the beginning of the course just skipped the opening in the intro.

The Wipeout influence was there in the obstacles like the magwall, digestive track and coil which were unnecessarily controlled in a way to increase the risk of failure, but on the whole the obstacles were good, just repetitive. I'm not sure though about the final being climbing based rather than waterbased - guess that's more influenced by Sasuke than Wipeout, and as I said pre-series this is a much bigger rip off of Sasuke than Wipeout ever was. The scoring system worked well though - the points system allows people who fail to complete the course to progress with their achievements credited, rather than it feeling like they've made it through but really shouldn't have.

The highlight of the series though - the opening of episode 9 which saw them transforming the Wipeout course into the Ultimate Beast.

The control-based obstacles weren't unnecessary. The Digestive Tract needed it and it made the Magwall look cooler (the magnets the people were hanging from never fell). Not sure what coil obstacle you're talking about, but if you mean Coil Crawl then that helped pace things.

Also, now I have to go back and see the premiere of episode 9!! emoticon

What did you think of Yuuji's attempt?

Might just watch one episode of season two and as well if all the obstacles stay the same!

It probably won't, the press-release made out that the course changed greatly every week so maybe they were saying this about the season 2 course - without realizing it.

Or it was just a comment from someone who didn't watch it and decided to say something general that would reveal this truth (emoticon )but still!
