Messup's at Home Courses

There's a ninja fan hidden in me (overshadowed by my Takeshi obsession, and it's a motivation in my life. So, without further ado, I'll explain what this is for: for tracking the obstacle courses I've configured and getting the feedback from you guys, as I'm sure you'll know more.

So here's me first course:

Bar Traverse: Hang from a bar, do a pull-up and swing four feetonto a knotted rope.

Hanging Gauntlet: From the rope, transition to a swinging arm ring and cross over two ropes to reach a hanging playground swing. Feet and use of knots are not allowed.

Sky Swing: Jump from the swing up to a hanging-egg-shaped-grip and traverse to a hanging "cannonball", two feet away

Monkey Peg: Cross from the cannonball to a pegboard and travel horizontally through, then travel half the distance of the first section, downward.

Balance Tank to Final Teeter: Turn around from hanging at the bottom of the pegboard to reach a small cylinder and roll to make it to a teeter totter positioned on to[ of a wobbly mat to finish.

I'm happy to say I made it on my first try this time emoticon Probably luck emoticon

Alright, there'll be future courses (possibly tomorrow) and I'm open to people's ideas. I have everything I said (duh!), a rockwall, a treadmill, five Cliffhanger cliffs, ping-pong balls, a punching bag, hanging grips, a disc swing, hammock swing and three boxes that get higher.

Coming soon: Floating Monkey Peg and Unstable Bridge

Lol can you tell I'm addicted to this now?

Sounds like an impressive setup! emoticon .

I'd love to make a ninja course, but sadly I have nowhere near enough space, hence the odd trip to have a play when urban ninja are in town emoticon.

Maybe it's because I watched Million Family too much, but all I can think of with the ping pong balls is to make a trap for anyone coming up the stairs to try and find you emoticon

From what I've seen, a lot of people slip up on things like switching between ropes, and jumping obstacles like the quintuple step, so if you're looking to train yourself up for a go, it seems like it might be handy to stick some obstacles like that in, and maybe have a bounce on a mini-trampoline or something like that.

Or are you looking to make your own, custom-built even trickier ninja warrior style course?

Wait, that's a great idea: Sasuke x Million Family. It's an obstacle course but it's full of surprises and traps to trip contestants up. [sign in to see URL]. emoticon

Thanks for the comments and tricks! emoticon

For the most part I've got switching between ropes and climbing up with and without feet down, but Quin Steps are something I want. I have a few mats so maybe if I fold them up I could do at least Quad Steps? They'd be further apart.

Yep I need help with a mini tramp jump - but appearently, most of that gets easier as I get heavier.

I need a Salmon Ladder to practice technique and a Warped Wall, Pipe Slider and Devil Steps would be great. Sorry got carried away for a minute! emoticon emoticon

Four of the Timbers are made of foam, Log Grip spins at the bottom, Tarp over holes in the path that contestants fall into

Just to name some ideas emoticon

Go buy 6 exercise balls. Then, lay them in a straight line 1 foot apart per two balls. To clarify:

Sorry Codex, sisters in the garage, but maybe another time I can emoticon

That would be a good balance test, Alex... except I can't buy five more balls emoticon

Today I had course #2 - similar but far tougher than yesterday's.

Bar Traverse: Hang from a bar, rotate your body around it twice (so turn your hands around and back around and repeat. Make sense? emoticon ) and swing four feet onto a knotted rope.

Bumpy Rings: From the rope, transition to the first of four arm rings and go across all four, transitioning into the middle of a rockwall. The second and fourth are a foot higher than the first and third. No feet allowed.

Rockwall: A long rockwall must be crossed, and after that jump a few feet backwards to a punching bag laying on the ground.

Tall Walls: From the punching bag, a mat stood on its side must be jumped over to land on a small, folded-up mat. From here another mat, just like the first must be jumped over to land on another folded-up mat. The walls may not be touched and are four-feet tall on their sides.

Ball to Wall: An exercise ball must be rolled from the mat to a slanted rockwall. This must be climbed and stood on top of to finish.

It took four tries today. I failed twice on the first obstacle and once on the transition to rockwall from ring emoticon

Thanks, only took me six months to think of these emoticon

I'm trying to get good at these things. Well, I have eight (or five) years to perfect everything, but first I must learn actual stuff.

I've got an idea here, and the fun part is that you can play with a friend.

Ball Gym: Cross a bar by using your hands and jump onto a box. It has ping-pong balls as well as the stuff to hit them (forgot what they were called emoticon ) Pick a set up and your partner is on another box 3 feet away (he/she has a set too). Hit the ball to your partner and then grab on to a rope. Swing from it, land on your partner's box and tag him/her. Now he/she does the whole course backwards, except that after he/she is done, he/she has to use a cannon to fire a basketball or other similar-sized ball into the air. You have to do two forward rolls on a long mat and catch the ball in to win.

Since the ball will be launched up high, you should build this in your backyard.
