Animation!

To not make thousands of threads about series I recommend you to watch, I decided to make a general thread about it! Today we have "Over the Garden Wall".

"Over the Garden Wall" is a mini-series of 10 episodes of 10 minutes each, created by Cartoon Network. I ended it yesterday, so I'll give you a bit of my personal critique.

Cartoon Network usually makes weird series, sometimes nonsense, but funny in some cases. OtGW does not follow that pattern. A close friend of mine says that we're in the golden years of cartoon, and I agree with her. We're in a years where we discover great series (Phineas and Ferb, Star vs the Forces of Evil, Code Lyoko (not the live-action spinoff), etc). and this one it's behind Phineas and Ferb in greatest cartoons. It may be the only cartoon deserver of a 10 out of 10. The story, the characters, the soundtrack...

One person and his little brother got lost in the woods and they're trying to get home. Later they find a talking bluebird that will help them getting home. But they'll have to get through many problems. Will they get home?

So I'm going to tell you the main characters trying to not tell you any spoilers.

Wirt - the main character. He wears a gnome hat and a cape.
Greg - Wirt's little brother. His personality may disturb Wirt a bit.
Beatrice - a bluebird. She'll help them to find their way home.

I think that's the maximum I can tell you without telling you the entire series. If you have 100 minutes free, you can watch all 10 this great cartoon of all-time!

Re: Animation!

I think everyone would probably have their own 'golden era' of animation. I don't know enough about current cartoons to be able to comment either way on the series' that are being produced now, but my golden era would have to be the mid-late 90s. Dexter's Laboratory, Powerpuff Girls, Johnny Bravo, Two Stupid Dogs, Cow and Chicken, Ed Edd and Eddy. I used to love all of those when I was younger! Some were definitely weird - but not in the same class as the current strange Cartoon Network stuff!

I expect a lot of people would say the golden age of animation was back in the mid-1900s when all the Looney Tunes and Disney stuff were being made.

But this is another series for me to check out when I get the chance. Still gotta catch up on Star too emoticon

They're not THAT old! emoticon

But, Disney didn't start animating until about 1928.

Warner Bros. didn't start producing animated shorts until 1933.

The Golden Age really didn't start until the 1940s, though.

Haha I meant the middle of the 19XXs - as in around 40s-70s! Maybe "the middle of the twentieth century" would have been a clearer way to word it emoticon

Oh, OK. Usually when you say "1900s" it's between 1900-1909.

It was very funny for me xDDDD

And Messup, you should definitely watch Star vs the Forces of Evil and Over the Garden Wall. You'll laugh with SvtFoE and you'll love OtGW. I promise.
