Re: Fun Gameshows

Here's two new grand show!

First up is 101 Ways to Leave a Gameshow:

Here you have to answer questions and if you pick the wrong answer then (you guessed it!) you'll be eliminated in one of 101 ways!

Next is a triva/race show, The Whole 19 Yards:

Here they keep asking questions and when you think you know the right answer you dash through 19 yards to a buzzer but it's harder than it seems! Contestants will race each other through a 19 yard long course. And the contestants are extremely stupid!

101 Ways can't be watched in my country and probably not in any other country except for the US. But we've seen it back then when it was on TV and we did a big trip to the US just to see that show.

It was so much better than the UK version (or any other version).

The Whole 19 yards was okay-ish. No big hit, but not completely crap. And better than the German adaption, which took 2 hours, they played games a few times on the same show. Also, they haven't used an obstacle course all the time. Sometimes they had puzzles that people had to solve before they were allowed to advance. Or they had to run on treadmills.

101 Ways was really good and seemed to not be staged, which is probably actually the reason it got cancelled so soon.

Yeah the UK version must be made by the Washout producers because some of those eliminations look like fun!

And The Whole 19 Yards was an interesting concept but maybe they should have done a Ninja style course, but then it's its own show and it's alright.

I quite liked The Whole 19 Yards. They used the same courses every week, but it definitely deserved a second series so they could improve things.

I liked the variations between episodes and rounds emoticon

Kind of reminded me of the Dizzy Dummy because they have to start over and do it again! They had the blindfold dizzier and the velcro course which was ace!

I wonder if there's ever been a winner (as in winning the whole prize)?

I think pretty much every show going to the effort they did deserves a second outing!

Not every show deserves a second series! Some are just bad and nothing you do to them will change that. 19 Yards had most of what they were doing right - they just needed a far bigger variety of games.

I quite liked 19 Yards when it was on, like everyone else has said though, we saw the same games a number of times in the one series, which is always a problem when your games are the core to the show. The endgame was good as well, fitted in with the style of questions the rest of the show had.

Yep - that was a lot of good stuff about it. I guess it must have been one of those shows that suffered from the obsession with the ratings not being high enough. Yet they recommision far worse shows.
Also look at Ninja Warrior. That was so much more repetitive than 19 Yards yet they've brought that back again.

This week's discoveries:
Run for Time. It's the new Chinese Run for Money. If you don't watch RFM because you can't understand what's going on then you have no excuse with RFTime - it's fully subbed in English (emoticon Hunan TV)!
It's not as good as the original (but then what international remake of any show ever is) but from what I've seen so far (only about 20 minutes into the first ep) it's still very good.

Ep 1:

And something I somehow stumbled on today. I don't even know how now, but I've ended up watching it most of the day emoticon
After School Club. It's a Korean show, but made for a worldwide TV station (like Korea's version of Japan's NHK World) so it's all in English.
It's really about K-Pop (which I know absolutely nothing about) but the hosts are awesome. So the main point of the show is to have fans from around the world talking to their favourite singers, but the fun stuff is between all of that where they mess around and play games and stuff.

So it's not technically a gameshow, but there are game parts so here's a random one - the classic guess-the-horrible-drink game. The hosts are Eric (in the middle) and Kevin and Jimin (on the left). This should jump right to the game:
https://youtube.com/watch?v=TxAflHj33DI&t=5m20s

You might think it's one of those really awkward shows at first - I did - but the more you watch the more you realise it's just the kind of style it has and the more you enjoy these three. I did anyway lol.
Here's another clip that's not a game but it made me like them even more, In this episode they invite Eric on as a guest to promote his music, rather than him hosting, and play a prank on him with the help of a video caller:
https://youtube.com/watch?v=OnXiK1G0tgs&t=27m55s

He seems like a really nice person, especially when he was like "I thought I'd have to talk to some people after the show [about the way they supposedly treated her]" LOL. So he obviously cares about his show, that's always the sign of a great programme when the people hosting it get involved in everything. So yeah, kinda ASC-ing it up at the moment haha.

Jimin is great too. You do not expect that voice to come out of her mouth. Totally doesn't match how you think she'd sound or act from looking at her emoticon She's a singer too - she's pretty much Mari with serious attitude LOL.
SO MUCH TO WATCH.

I suspect cost comes into it as well, Ninja Warrior looks considerably cheaper to produce than 19 Yards. Bigger set, bigger lighting rig, big course changes, bigger/more prizes.
