Re: Wipeout [is officially over] Vanessa was pretty much a scapegoat for them. Oh the ratings are down, must be because of her, so let's kick her out and everything will be find again.
Re: Wipeout [is officially over] I wouldn't have said this at all at first, but I definitely think that Vanessa seemed more involved than Jill (at least at the end of her season, and in Jill's comeback seasons) in the game. I haven't gotten to her episodes yet and I'm rewatching season 4 currently, but will be interesting to compare them when watched with no break in between.
Anyway have Vanessa Lachey auto-tune:

Let's face it: Jill was done with the show, that's why she left Wipeout when it was still popular.
Unfortunately, acting didn't work out for her.. so she was free again after a season on Teen Wolf.
Re: Wipeout [is officially over] They probably threw a load of money at her to get her back though, so can't blame her for retuning. Easy money, especially if you can't get employed as an actor.

Seemed more to me that Vanessa had her baby and didn't want to be there and Jill was coming running back to them so they took her back.
If they did pay extra, that explains season 6 and 7's obstacles

One doesn't rule out the other. Even if Vanessa didn't want to come back, they could have always asked for someone else.
But I doubt that Vanessa had a choice. There was no report that said that she was leaving and they decided to bring Jill back. It was always worded like "Jill returns after Vanessa replaced her in season 5". If it was her decision, they would have included a statement from her. But Vanessa was pretty much "written out" and forgotten.
And they made a huge deal about Jill returning. Back then it was even more important news than Wipeout hitting 100 episodes.
I think it's pretty obvious: they wanted Vanessa out and Jill back after they had 50 episodes that get more and more repetitive as season 4 and 5 went on, hoping that people would return for Jill.

I do think I read an article that Jill happily returned (as at least it was something).
But then what's it matter now?!

Re: Wipeout [is officially over] Yeah, sorry if I wasn't clear. There was a press release therefore there were news reports. What I meant is the wording. The focus was on Jill returning and Vanessa was just a side note, e.g. not getting a proper goodbye.
Jill still got mentioned as the current host, while Vanessa didn't in the season 6 PR release, even though those press releases were sent out during the season.
Jill got a goodbye message from Matt ("We will miss her"), Vanessa didn't. Really, judging from the press releases, it was not Vanessa's decision to leave. They literally wrote her off the show.
