I'll eventually get around to actually playing all the way through, but for now, it will not surprise you to learn that it is More Of The Same.

Re: Wipeout [is officially over]

Pretty much.

The sad thing is there was genuinely some brilliant stuff after season three (Panic Hammocks is easily the best thing they ever put in that last Qualifier pool, and both of season six's Zones are surprisingly great - if they didn't go down the smackwall route with the loose ledges on Blockbuster, that zone would be my stealth pick for the best course the show ever had), but when they had something amazing they either didn't do anything with it (they went to the effort of making a tilting turntable for the opening Qualifier obstacle once and then we never saw it again, while the entire Detour round only turned up three times in total), or it was shunted into the background so we could spend yet more time watching Henson put on a silly voice to introduce a round that was basically "ride a couple of sweepers and turntables while we throw things at you, then ride down a slide through a windmill to a finish platform that's deliberately out of reach". Sigh.

At least we only saw Sugar Smacks a handful of times though. Seriously the least entertaining obstacle course challenge I've ever seen on TV, and I've watched multiple seasons of Big Brother.

Re: Wipeout [is officially over]

So I'm trying to replace my copies of the show after a hard drive crash, and there are a few episodes I can't find anywhere. Is anyone able to help with a source for any of these?:

Season 2, Episode 0 (Wipeout Bowl)
Season 2, Episode 15 (Australia)
Season 4, Episode 1 (Wipeout Wall qualifier)
Winter Season 2, Episode 3 (Snowboard Halfpipe qualifier)
Season 7, Episode 11 (Wipeout Shores qualifier)

Hi!

The only direction I can point you in is downloading them on Amazon Video (and maybe you can get those onto your hard drive? I'm not good with them) and watch them from there or maybe find a way to put them on a hard drive!

Good luck! emoticon

I didn't save any of them, so I can't help, sorry emoticon

I'm surprised that they're not around anywhere at all. There used to be loads of places to download them. I suppose it has been a few years though.

I'm not sure but I think I have a few episodes on an old hard drive. I won't be home till Sunday, so I can't check the hard drive right now. But I will get back to you shortly.

Re: Wipeout [is officially over]

Looking for something a bit light hearted to watch tonight after a crappy day at work I thought I'd give a couple of episodes from the last season a try, the Bachelor one and the Fraternity/Sorority one.

Effectively viewing them blind the Bachelor one was enjoyable enough - no real complaint about the obstacles (as I've not watched them seven weeks running) and the John's were on top form with Anderson playing the fanboy brilliantly.

The Fraternity/Sorority one though reminded me of why we hated the final season especially - the tone of the episode is so different with so much focus on time and who won what round rather than the personality of the contestants. Really did spoil the whole thing and just don't know what they were thinking by going down that route. It's gutting to that it was this zone they went down the Washout route on as it is certainly one of the better zones of latter series, so just a shame that more often than not contestants skipped the obstacles.

I've still never watched an episode from the final season. It's the stupid skipping rule on the Zone that was the main thing stopping me. We know how crap the rest of the obstacles had become, but to sit through all of that and then end on a total anticlimax seems a complete waste of time. It was obviously the final nail in the coffin. Well done guys.
