Richard Ayoade? Really? Never found him particularly entertaining. Might give it a miss.

Re: Making of Crystal Maze
I've had a look at the website for the Bristol Tv studio...and it looks really big so that fills me with confidence, and having the original set designer on board makes it all the better.
Pity they're having Industrial instead of Ocean, and I won't judge the IT Crowd guy until the first episode airs (whenever that will be!)

Really? Just over not liking the host?

Is this it?:

Doesn't look too big to me but maybe I'm overestimating the space the Maze takes up
I don't mind industrial if they're willing to change things up and possibly create ocean somewhere down the line, but I agree Ocean would be a better choice if they're not planning on updating things.
And why's your avatar gone?

Nah, that's the BBC's local news studio/newsroom/etc. They're building the new set here somewhere:

Re: Making of Crystal Maze
I'm looking forward to seeing the new set more than the actual finished show itself. Really disappointed they've gone back to Industrial and not Ocean though. They got rid of Industrial because it was dull.
If it were me; I'd have kept Aztec and Ocean, and replaced Medieval and Futuristic. Medieval is another dull-looking zone. When it was part of the story that Richard and Mumsie lived there it was fine, but I'm hoping they don't go copying the same story this time, as why would the new guy live in an old castle. In which case we don't need the Medieval Zone. How about swapping it for some kind of Victorian mansion or something. He can live there. Maybe make it spooky and haunted.
I don't think Futuristic can work properly anymore. It all gets outdated pretty quickly. Look at the original future zone. Digital displays and clunky metal doors. That's old now, not futuristic! I don't know what I'd replace that with. Maybe a snowy zone, to oppose Aztec.

20 episodes is a LOT. I suppose they have to justify the costs of building the set. And thankfully it is going to be a real set, and not filmed in one of the experience things.
Don't know about the host though. I've seen a couple of shows with him in and he doesn't seem like he'd fit, but we'll see.
The original had 13 episodes per series plus a Christmas special, so 20 episodes, which (sadly) will include a handful of celeb specials, isn't a huge expansion on that. I hope the permanent set might see it expand around the world this time with other countries filming here, though whether other countries would get it remains to be seen.
I've said all along Richard Ayode will either be brilliant or awful. He's fantastic on Travel Man but his persona is of someone who hates contact with other people, so him inviting people into his maze doesn't really fit with that.

Re: Making of Crystal Maze
I'd be surprised if they don't try and sell it globally. I assume it'd cost less money to hire and send contestants over here than to build their own set elsewhere. Plus the production company would make enough money to replace the zones with better ones in the future, hooray...
