Re: Video Games
Got my cousin's old PS2. Not sure how well it works - seems to at least have trouble with slightest scratches on disc and controllers are worn - but some games are playable.
I'm giving Spider-Man a try.

Re: Video Games
If anyone ever has an interest in the Famicom Disk System, I'd say look into one, but note that it's a finicky system and is complicated to repair. Research on it is required.
That said, I love mine, but it also frustrates me.

Re: Video Games
The new Mario Maker version actually looks like a big step up from the first! I'm tempted! But if it deleted "unpopular" levels, that's still a bit of a dealbreaker
I love how were all talking to ourselves about different games anyway

Re: Video Games
As I don't have previous experience on PS2, I've got to ask: am I missing something obvious or is there some simple fix I should know?
Because I've got 4 games that won't run, even though they're not notably scratched (PC drive reads them OK). With some it acts as if there's no disc, in another it shows the disc in browser but won't do anything choosing it and in one case tries to run, shows PS2 logo, but then goes black and stops.
Meanwhile about ten games work OK (except little stutter in some opening video?)
Any suggestions?

Re: Video Games
Hmm, now one of the four started (I think it was the one that previously stopped to black screen).
On the other hand one of the working games crashed...
So far I've played 5 levels of Spider-Man and can't say I'm really enjoying it. To be seen how far I'll go before I start cheating.

Re: Video Games
After getting the house back in order at damn last, the PS2 & 3 and Wii have been brought out of mothballs. The Wii Fit Board and 2 of the PS3 controllers won't hold a charge anymore. The covers for the Wii controllers need washed, they've gone a sickly brown and are sticky with whatever has formed in them. But the controllers themselves work fine.
Trying to work out what's still on SD cards, accidentally deleted DLC save file for the first Ace Attorney game, with Wii services discontinued there's no getting that back. No problem, the original trilogy is up there with Street Fighter 2 as amongst Capcom's most ported titles, so I'll just play them on 3DS and PS4, collecting trophies on the latter as I go. Also bought the avatar pack with the lovely Iris in them, so she's currently next to my user name on PSN, replacing Sonic who was there for ages.
Also on PS3 racking up trophies on games I'm finally getting around to playing, in some cases a number of years after buying/starting them, including Sonic Adventure 1 & 2, Toe Jam and Earl 1 & 2, Sonic 4 (both parts) and the remake of Castle of Illusion starring Mickey Mouse. That'll be difficult, as it was a remake of the Mega Drive version, so there will likely be bits I've never faced before, being only familiar with the Master System version. Don't ever show that game to those 'git good' b*****ds, it's got *gasp* an easy mode!
