Re: Formula 1, anyone?
Half of the players don't either - because they are nice old ladies from my forum who I'm annually whipping into playing.
Just check the list of drivers and team in wikipedia and pick three

Re: Formula 1, anyone?
Hahaha, okay....
I've picking purely on the names I have heard of. I guess that makes them good if they're more famous, right!?...
Kimi Räikkönen, Jenson Button, Lewis Hamilton.
Those are probably boring choices

Champions all.
I'm playing even more coldblooded and boring myself...
(but that's because I wanted to have the Finns)

More like insane optimism.
I picked two Germans which will do fine, but are a bit of a gamble when it comes to the championship. I guess Lewis Hamilton would still beat Nico Rosberg.
After picking two Germans I thought it'd be nice to a pick a third one for consistency reasons. The better choice would be Nico Hülkenberg, who's quite nice. (A coworker actually met him the other week).
And he might finish in the Top 10, something that Wehrlein won't achieve. He's new to the F1 championship, he signed up for a crappy team that didn't win anything in the past and he should be happy enough if he doesn't finish last.
But I picked him over Hülkenberg, because a) I thought it was a funny pick. b) I'm happy to support an underdog c) if anyone can be the odds and not finish on one of the last three places, it'd be him. That's why he got my pick.
I guess a smarter pick than Hülkenberg or Wehrlein would be Bottas or Massa. But everyone can be smart... it takes a lot to be stupid!

Re: Formula 1, anyone?
Ben Edwards and David Coulthard retained in the commentary box, Lee McKenzie retained in the pit lane, a rotating panel of pundits including Alain Prost - my vote for greatest driver of all time in that eternal debate - and the one and only Murray Walker.
Forget the 'music', I can just mute it. I forgive you again, Channel 4!
Meanwhile, 'Division 1' at the top, I choose Vettel. Because I'll always choose Vettel. Raise that finger on high! What a difference a decade makes. 11 years ago, I rejoiced as a German dominating with Ferrari was finally stopped. Now in 2016 I want a German to start dominating with Ferrari.
In 'Division 2' in the midfield, though it may be a struggle... The strength, speed and Shiny Teeth, of Daniel Ricciardo. "Hunt! Hunt! Hunt! He's the Huntsman!"
In 'Division 3', near the back. It's tempting to go for the Chosen One, Wehrlein, or for Grosjean in his new adventure as Haas' team leader. But I've always had a soft spot for the fallen former champions Renault, so I'll gamble on a rookie, and go for Jolyon Palmer.
Apart from all that, it's 30 years since Keke Rosberg retired... just a thought. Come on, Nico! Time for the brains in car No. 6 to finally put the spoilt brat in car No. 44 in his place!

Re: Formula 1, anyone?
Let me explain two thing about my game.
1. The traditional main game (which I now refer as "Active Game" as opposed to this "Passive Game" where we choose 3 drivers in season start) has for many years had rule of "if you don't choose new driver, you'll have same as last race" (so that you can play without missing races), resulting that you could say Hamilton for first GP and have him all season if not actively playing.
Additionally, to avoid this I've last couple years given less active players option of naming 2, 3 or more drivers that would alternate all season - like the Passive Game works now.
2. Most people at my board have never really shared my passion for motor sports and I annually beg, whine and annoy them to join the games. The fact that my rules have in some years been even more complicated than now doesn't help.
Because they haven't always known what exactly they were supposed to guess, I've sometimes made colorful interpretations of how something they happened to say counts as making a choice.
I rather enjoy that. (I used to work in a bureau for years and liked it.)
So I'll do some interpreting here...
I rule that rsmcc's support to Rosberg counts as a choice for the Active Game (practically meaning you'll have him all season - or until you post otherwise - and therefore have good chance of winning the game).
Codex89 is a bit harder. As a fair judge (/benevolent dictator) of my game, I can't make a farfetched interpretation that would hinder a player. Because Passive Game score counts also as Active Game score if player doesn't enter the latter, I cannot rule to Codex89 a choice that would be worse than Rosberg/Vettel/Wehrlein.
Since he presents suspicion that Hamilton is better than Rosberg, that replacement can be done. But Wehrlein (or alternatively Vettel/Wehrlein) can't be simply replaced by bot Bottas and Massa because they would then take two races, replacing also a better driver. So instead Bottas and Massa will be alternating between themselves, thus being in every 6th race.
So, (unless there's objection or a further active participation by the player that overrules this) I rule that Codex89's Active Game choices are Hamilton/Vettel/Bottas/Hamilton/Vettel/Massa (repeated as long as there are GPs). (Bottas comes first and so has one race more than Massa both because he was named first and because he was better in last year standings.)
*sigh* I miss being a real bureacrat.

I know the feeling all too well! Replace "motor sports" with various titles of various TV shows or singers and that's been my past ten years

That's fine with me.
