Re: Formula 1, anyone?

Formula E season start is just couple weeks away, so time to make choices for my Formula E Game. Like last year, this isn't a big complicated thing like my F1 Game; players just choose any 2 drivers and their final scores are added at end of season to see who won.

Choose 2 drivers from the list:

(X)=position last season
*=didn't drive all races last season
201X=championship

(1) Lucas di Grassi 2017
(2)* Sébastien Buemi 2016
(3) Felix Rosenqvist
(4) Sam Bird
(5) Jean-Éric Vergne
(6) Nico Prost
(7) Nick Heidfeld
(8) Daniel Abt
(11) Nelson Piquet Jr. 2015
(12) Oliver Turvey
(14) Mitch Evans
(17)* Maro Engel
(18) Jérôme d'Ambrosio
(20) António Félix da Costa
(23)* Alex Lynn
Edoardo Mortara
Neel Jani
Luca Filippi
André Lotterer
Kamui Kobayashi

(The "eternal participation" rule added to F1 Game this year is also applied to FE Game.)

Hurry up and play the Formula E Game above! ^^^^^ emoticon

2017 F1 Game final results:

Simelius: 342
Codex89: 338
Li0nh3eart: 323
rsmcc: 264
Kaunisto: 262
Justbec: 214 *
Petal Alderin: 209
Nick: 203 *
EyeOfTheBeholder83: 201
Barbara12: 86 *
DuffDan: 65
eaglewings: 43

*=not actually playing Active Game, so Passive Game score counts as that too

Passive Game:

Codex89: 275

Morwen Oronor: 272
Petal Alderin: 264
EyeOfTheBeholder83: 262
rsmcc: 261
Li0nh3eart: 253
Kaunisto: 244
Simelius: 239
Justbec: 214
Nick: 203
eaglewings: 110
DuffDan: 89
Barbara12: 86

Total Game (the official championship):

1. Morwen Oronor: 25+18=43

2. Codex89: 25+15=40
3. Simelius: 18+4=22
4. Li0nh3eart: 12+8=20
5. rsmcc: 10+10=20
6. Petal Alderin: 4+15=19
7. Kaunisto: 8+6=14
8. EyeOfTheBeholder83: 1+12=13
9. Justbec: 6+2=8
10. Nick: 2+1=3
11. eaglewings: 0+0=0 (13th+11th, best guess within games 2nd)**
12. Barbara12: 0+0=0 (11th+13th, best guess within games 3nd)**
13. DuffDan: 0+0=0 (12th+12th)

**=this sets a precedent for future seasons: when there are multiple games and two or more players finish with exactly same positions, tie breaker is amount of correctly guessed wins/2nd/3rd/etc. in all the games combined (excluding games that itself are combined, such as seen 2014 and possibly making appearance 2018)

(^^^ I'm just making a rule note for myself here)

Anything Goes F1 Game 2017 champion is Morwen Oronor
Morwen Oronor also wins Active Game
Codex89 wins Passive Game

This is first championship and fourth individual game win to MO.
This is first individual game win to Codex.

Results of the separate F1 Season Start Game:

Simelius: 9
rsmcc: 6
Kaunisto: 5

Simelius is the 2017 Season Start Game winner.

Formula E Game could use a couple more players... emoticon

Only couple days left to season start!
Just pick two names from the list (second post above) and you're set.

I’m going to go risky again and choose two who didn’t drive all races last year. It might pay off this time... emoticon

Maro Engel and Alex Lynn.

Re: Formula 1, anyone?

FE Game has 6 players this season and we all picked pretty bad: of total 9 drivers we chose (3 by 2 players), none are among top 5 and 3 are among the bottom 5 who have scored no points.
Nearly all of us are somewhat even within 10 points or so, so I don't bother to count exact score.

I'll bring up the F1 Game once Williams officially names (Sirotkin) the second driver.

Good news for Finland: Niko Kari continues at GP3 with MP Motorsports (team that moves down from Formula 2). Another Finn Simo Laaksonen also enters GP3 at Campos Racing.

There's talk about starting a Finnish F4 series. I don't know how certain this is or what will it mean to the North European Zone F4 where Finland has so far been involved with teams, drivers and races.

Good, pleased for Kari, he got treated as badly as Kyvat by the Red Bull company. Sometimes makes you wish motorsport did what football does and sacks the management after bad form rather than the participants.

Didn't know FE had a game running. That's what I get for not paying attention. Really need to get up to date. Like finally rounding up WRC '17 before Monte Carlo. Loeb won't stop coming back, it seems. Shows how desparate Citroen are for success again, they need to tap him for feedback, like Williams look set to do in F1 with Kubica. Age and the nature of his injuries have worked against him in killing off the fairytale. The feelgood story just isn't enough. Williams need perfromance from a driver, and Kubica wasn't showing it. Both in a Renault, and in a Williams, and both of those midfield machinery, Kubica has been consistently running up to a second slower than Sirotkin. That just won't do. In Abu Dhabi, Stroll was a second down on the departing Massa in the race, then in the test Kubica was a second slower than Stroll. You can't explain that away with fuel or setup. Running slower than Stroll shows that Kubica's not what he once was any more. A test driver is all he'll be now. Watching him in F2, I know Sirotkin has talent, not just money, anyone who just puts it down to money is blinded by nostalgia for Kubica. Sad, but there it is. Sirotkin deserves a shot at the big time, as he's been sniffing around F1 with Williams, Renault and Sauber in previous seasons. Williams have all but signed him, as they should.

Since I use the same "eternal participation" rule for FE Game as I added to F1 Game last year, you are automatically in with your last year choices: Prost & Buemi
