Also me hosting Italian daytime smash hit "Avanti un Altro!" re-titled as "Next!".

Honestly, it could work.

I also agree with Wipeout Star's suggestion of foreign Wipeout, if they could get it, voiced-over by an English host. Maybe even with little inserts filmed of them in the booth! Again easy and cheap to produce, and if people will watch Washout then there's no reason they wouldn't watch this.

Didn't India do that with the US Wipeout? But yeah, it would be an easy way to get new shows.

La piste de Xapatan and le tesor de Pago Pago would be good shows for Challenge, too. Would work perfectly with Fort Boyard. Xapatan didn't change the games that often, but it was still a good show. And somebody just has to show it so that I can get a full episode emoticon

I knew there was a country that filmed their own inserts for American Wipeout but couldn't remember which! It was done in a studio though, wasn't it? It'd be fun to have the proper booth background so the English host could pretend to be there.

Lots of foreign shows would work with voice-overs, but I can't see Challenge ever taking a chance on one again. The days of them being inventive seem to have long gone emoticon

They have trouble enough with filling the one channel with interesting content, so I don't know if a Challenge Extra would be such a good idea!! Repeats of repeats of repeats.

I don't actually think VS Arashi would be that good on Challenge. They don't have that many games and they don't vary them very often. It's fine for us because we only have an episode every now and then, but it'd be on Challenge every day and people would get fed up of seeing Rolling Coin Tower and Giant Crash day in day out.

What do you guys think of the way Challenge looks at the moment (eg. idents/logo)? I think it looks kinda cool and feels a bit retro, but I still kinda preferred the old look (used from 2008 to 2011).

Do you guys think the channel's current presentation could've been better or different?

Re: Challenge TV

True, but they're only on once a week. Imagine two episodes a day, five days a week! Maybe if it was on less it'd be okay.

I like the new look. At least it kind of relates to the channel as opposed to a city, a beach and a park in the idents they used to have. That old look was good when they first introduced it (before it was modified). The yellow bits coming out from behind the logo used to have lines through, and they had flashing lights and stuff. They used to make idents themed to different shows then too. They had a Fear Factor one with a helicopter in and a Ninja Warior one with... well, a ninja!
I saw that they'd made a Deal or No Deal themed ident in this new style which was cool, so they should make more based on their other shows again.

Looking through the listings for the next month or so they have a total of one new show. Win Lose or Draw Late. emoticon Regular Win Lose or Draw is fun, but this was 'celebrities' getting drunk and drawing penises. FUN FUN FUN. Naturally it's scheduled for 11:20pm. Money well spent then - buying some rubbish to go out late at night that hardly anyone will watch (because of the time, but mainly because of how bad it is). I hope it was dirt cheap, otherwise what were they thinking? emoticon

But then they brought Big Break and have stuck that on late night too. Why not put it on at a reasonable time to actually get the best for their money? And apparently they're showing the first series again. Why didn't they get one of the later ones? It ended in 2002 according to wiki, so surely the later episodes would be a lot better to show? They'd be widescreen (emoticon) too!

Yep, can be easily done. You just need a green (or blue) screen emoticon

How long is an original episode of VS Arashi? They might cut one episode into two. That's what DSF did with their French shows like Xapatan. Originally it was 75 minutes (without ads), but we got 3 episodes that were 25 minutes long. So it's similar to what the US/UK do to Ninja Warrior. That's a smart move, episodes are less repetitive that way.

Re: Challenge TV

I do agree that Challenge's current look does relate to the programmes they show in some way or another.

I think the old look was still great even though it was slightly modified when Sky took over the channel. The only differences I noticed was that the idents were kinda zoomed in a bit, the logo in the break bumpers got larger for no particular reason, and the font used in the bit where the announcer talked about what was coming up on Challenge on that night was altered (also for no particular reason).

I still like the presentation that was used from 2006 to 2008 with the word 'CHALLENGE' in flashing lights. That was pretty cool, shame it couldn't have been used a bit longer.

I haven't noticed that special ident for DOND. That's probably because I wasn't watching the channel when they were showing those old eps from Series 1 late last year.

I have noticed that there's now some special idents being used to introduce TNA Wrestling's programmes aswell.

Even though it's great to see Big Break back on Challenge, I seriously don't know why they aren't showing later eps (especially the ones in widescreen). They just have Series 1 and 2 at the moment.

I have noticed that the late night version of Win, Lose or Draw from 2004 is coming to the channel next month. To be completely honest, I would prefer to see the original daytime version of the show instead. They did air it from 2007 to 2008.

Regular Win Lose or Draw could be really funny (depending on the guests), and again it's something that Challenge could remake themselves. So many possibilities for new series' that wouldn't eat up their budget.

They're about 47 minutes, so I cut out well over a third for our episodes. All of the stuff I do cut is just talking, so I expect Challenge would do exactly the same. When you cut that out it comes down to around the right length for a half-hour show. And we know what they do with those - double them up and air them daily!
