Re: Yaguchi Hitori Collection

I finally got the full Yaguchi Hitori DVD. Yay emoticon
I paid £3.something for it too.

And so, that means unseen stuff! Like the very first movies Mari and Haruki ever made. These were in 2004 - long before movie-making became one of the regular parts of the show.

First, here's Mari's. Starring Ayaka!

That's cool that you finnaly got the DVD and glad to hear that it wasn't really expensive either.

It's funny to see clips from the early episodes. They are even more basic than the newer ones and those were quite basic. But it's fun and it was nice to see something new with Ayaka. Her English lessons were awesome.

What is she doing these days?

I don't really know what Ayaka's doing. She had her son and then stopped posting on her blog. Apparently she had a small part in a TV drama recently, but other than that I don't know. Probably just being a mum. She is married to a rich golfer, so she doesn't really have to work a lot emoticon

Nice. Laughing away at Mari trying to look important. That was a throwback to the 'wacky Mari, sensible Ayaka' thing that I always got from Mari's appearances on SELs. Funny watching now, as I 'm watching this in 2015 thinking that Mari with tied back hair and glasses from 2004 looks like Michelle the bailiff from Judge Rinder in 2015. emoticon Nice short, as well. Liked the black and white look on everything that isn't red so they could do the whole 'red string' thing. Good effect. Often makes me think about how weird it must seem to Western eyes to see Japan treat Christmas like we do Valentine's. We may do romance at Christmas too, but family's the main focus for us, whereas it's romance for them.

Discuss. emoticon

I don't know, romantic Christmas makes sense to me. It's only about family in the western world becuase of the whole religious baby being born thing, right? So that's to do with families. Obviously Japan's main religion isn't Christian, so Christmas is all about the decorations and presents and pretty things (well, like it is to most people anywhere in the world really). Sparkling lights and glittery things are all romantic, so having a day with your partner seems the obvious thing to do.

With KFC. Becuase that's American, and Xmas is "Western", and the whole of the Western world = America to most non-Western countries, obviously.

But back to YH! Hopefully I'll get Haruki's movie up tomorrow.

I read somewhere that KFC was the first company to run advertising for Christmas and said that's what Americans would eat for Christmas. And everbody believed that KFC ist the American way of celebrating Christmas, that's why there's even a line in front of KFC at Christmas.

That video doesn't feel like it's from YH, because Haruki's not Haruki. Lol at the ending of the movie though, didn't expect that to happen.
