Re: New Fear Factor
It's only on MTV. They've been promoting it a lot on the Fear Factor Facebook page. I can't decide if it looks okay, or whether they've ruined it. Guess we're going to have to wait to watch a full episode and find out.

Re: New Fear Factor
Some more information:
http://www.latimes.com/entertainment/la-et-entertainment-news-updates-april-fear-factor-ludacris-mtv-1492011587-htmlstory.html
Things I like:
-The series is a good length
-The format seems similar
Things I don't like:
-Joe Rogan isn't hosting
-It's meant to appeal to a "new generation" and is "modernized".
-It's on at 10 in my country
-It uses the four teams format (which we already knew)
-It seems all about the gross stunts

Re: New Fear Factor
The original press release said they weren't going to do gross stunts, yet I've seen brief clips of people eating bugs, so they did a 180 on that.
The trailer doesn't make it look too bad at all, but now it's full of "young people", which usually means- irritating people desperate to be on TV.

Re: New Fear Factor
They weren't terrible teams actually - pretty good sports, even if I didn't love the whole modern approach used. The stunts felt lacking to me in that there wasn't any ninja-like one (jumping from building-to-building, trying to collect flags on a moving object, etc.). Next week seems to be missing it too.
I felt like of the first two games, only one needed to be in there. The claustrophobia one would be put in place of the gross stunt on the original show! And the bugs definitely should've been second, going with tradition.
I wonder if the second stunt will always follow the idea of the teams' greatest overall fear, or if that'll shift around each week? Felt kind of like Ludacris was trying too hard, but I liked him more near the end.
They've got some stuff right, but some isn't. The final stunt was good, but feels more like an opening stunt (at least in the old individual competitors episodes).
They got it about half right and half wrong. Luckily, I have the original thing on Youtube to watch whenever I like

Re: New Fear Factor
I watched the first episode, and it wasn't too bad!!
I don't like the way it's edited with all the cutaways to them talking, but it could be a lot worse. It's bareable.
The host is fine too. I know not her about rappers, so no idea who he is, but he's a decent host and made me laugh a few times ("release the sharks!").
Calling it MTV's Fear Factor so much is just irritating though. We get it, it's on MTV now, don't have to be told every time you mention the name of the show.
What I do hate are the 'coming up' bits. No needs for them at all.

Re: New Fear Factor
Ludacris as a host is fine, but he's not good as a host of Fear Factor. With the edits, I only have a huge gripe with the slow-motion. The cuts seem normal to me! Yeah the coming up bits are worse than pointless - they spoil things! American revival shows often do have the channel name in front to show that it's different, but I see your annoyance with it
I liked the ping-pong ball toss on episode two to decide what they're drinking. It felt very Fear Factor-esque of a second challenge. The blindfold car was fun too

Re: New Fear Factor
I thought that drinking game wa pretty naff to be honest. Where was the fear in that!? It was just regular food stuff. Yeah it wasn't in horrible combinations, but it wasn't anything to be fearful of. Disgusting to taste, and you wouldn't want to do it, but something to be afraid of? No.
I get that this version has a way smaller budget than the original, so you can't expect huge epic stunts and helicopters and lorries and boats, but at least blend up some bugs ffs!

Re: New Fear Factor
Yikes! I saw the snakes. They were disgusting. Were they drinking? They were drunk? Shouldn't that be outlawwed on a gameshow? I am not personally a drinker.
