Re: Art Attack I know! Neil always seemed to get his paper mache so smooth. And I'll never be able to draw like him.
Coincidently, yesterday two old episodes were uploaded by an account that seems to be semi-official. At least, it's someone who worked on Art Attack and various other shows. Looks like they have a whole library of old stuff.
An episode from Art Attack Scrapbook:
I think the Scrapbook series was the only Best Of episodes there were, but:
Best of Art Attack 2:
I didn't even know these episodes existed, but the same clips were used in one of the Art Attack videos. Extra long episode too.
I hope they keep uploading more. So many memories!
Re: Art Attack Ah, when there was actually something to watch on Saturday mornings. And yep, I remember! Especially the one where Neil actually turned up.
I've watched more clips of the new series and it just makes me sadder and sadder. Not only that he doesn't make the stuff himself (which is stupid in itself - he's saying how "anyone can be a good artist", yet he can't manage it!? ), but the way he talks. It's like he's speaking to a 2 year old all the time. Neil always spoke to the viewers like they had some intelligence, not as if they were a baby. Anyone that needs to be spoken to in the way he does wouldn't be old enough to make any of the stuff anyway.
Re: Art Attack yep, he seems to be a lot better than the first one. I had a quick look at the German website. They actually kept our original host, but gave him a new co-host. I don't know if they host the show together or if the host the shows on their own. The ad on their website just says that there are four arms on Art Attack now. Wikipedia says that the original host was completely replaced and Disney Junior just mention him in the about-section.. and reveal that he's left-handed. Look how left-handed he is..
The clip suggets that they alternate with each other every week. Hand here's one of the clips that prove that the original host is still there, he was the better one, too.
But the UK should have done something like that, letting Neil and a new guy host the show. Then they would have seen that kids still love Neil and fired the new guy after one season
Re: Art Attack HAHA, for a left-handed person he draws amazingly well with this right hand. What an achievement.
I want to watch a full episode of this new series to see how good/bad the new host is. I don't have the Disney channels.
I don't think Neil would have come back even if they asked him. He keeps saying that it was his decision to end the show (even though back when Art Attack did end it was reported ITV axed it, so I don't know). It has become too childish compared to Neil's original version too. And he's selling his paintings now!:

Re: Art Attack I wondered how that was related for a minute, as I somehow managed to miss the "(1:47 onwards)" you wrote above!
Art Attack got me my GCSE in art. That's the only reason I chose it it (becuase I liked Art Attack) then I realised it was all painting boring stuff and researching artists. Still, I made paper mache models for my coursework and got high marks
Re: Art Attack Yeah sorry, should have made that time frame in a more obvious font size
It's the voices that make me laugh in that bit, but that radio show overall was great until Jonathan Ross ruined it, but that's another story.
I also did GCSE art, I remember becoming totally disappointed by how rigid the lessons were. For a subject like art, you'd think it would be a little more 'free-form', right?
They said I would be charged about £50 if I didn't do the exam, so I just painted the sun, but painted it SO much that the paper bent in on itself, just so I had *something* to hand in, so I wouldn't be charged the money essentially.
To be honest, in our school each subject there were a few choice, and the one that art was a part of had 3:
1) Physical Education (Too much like exercise)
2) Religious Studies ([sign in to see URL], for so many reasons)
3) Art (Congrats, you are the default option, you win!)
So yeah Art Attack certainly did influence me too, I always wanted a room with giant 'effin pencils in it ha.
